  1. I understand the sentiment. But they didnt really die. Only Rangers did that. 😉
  2. Youd like to think not. We got a guy in on terms that suited us. He played well for 2 seasons (has been exceptional this season) and has got himself a bigger move off of those performances. The deal has worked for both parties and he is a great example for us to showcase to other prospective new signings. Its the model we have to work with now, so we need to get used to it. Would havr been nice if we had managed to get top 6 sooner and pushed the boat out for him, but realistically Hearts would still have been able to top that. Good luck to him. He will have my support until the end of the season.
  3. Good to get someone in post Hopefully he has the necessary skills and experience to be a success. It also hopefully means that the Well Society has exerted some control/authority over the investment opportunities and we will take our time to find the right one for the club rather than just dropping our drawers at the first offer.
  4. 3-1 Motherwell. For no other reason than trying to generate a positive feeling around this fixture!
  5. Probably. But it would be good to see him back and have the management team assess whether he has developed any. If not, happy for him to move on.
  6. I know not everyone on here is a Scotland fan, but cant you even hear yourself? I try not to bite with some of the stuff you post, but this is reactionary nonsense. Given the amount of injuries we have suffered with our players in training this kind of thing could easily have happened had international football not even be a thing. But seeing as it is and Im Scottish, I love to see our players being picked for Scotland (and any of the other countries our players play for). It shows they and we are doing well. Enjoy your summer watching cricket or whatever other meaningless shit you fill your time with.
  7. This is what we do. We take players, improve them, and move them on. It would have been nice if we could have got a fee for Spittal, but at least it is another one in a long line of players we have improved who have gone on to bigger things. Should help us attract a suitable replacement......
  8. Regardless of the repsonse, its a good strong statement from the club putting our position and that of the fans on record. If other clubs do likewise, the pressure on the SFA / SPFL will be ramped up. They cant ignore it forever.
  9. FWIW I dont expect us to beat St Mirren, Dundee or Hibs. I just live in hope. Im not sure I could keep turning up at Fir Park if I thought we were going to lose every week. (Not that Im saying thats your position.) I know its the hope that kills you, but I cant help myself! 😆
  10. He has been very impressive. Would love to get him back next season. However, I suspect after the performances he has put in here a "higher level" loan will be likely. But given our success with Biereth and now Vale we should ve seen as a good destination for prospective loanees.
  11. All results are possible. You wont be surprised to know my glass will remain half full....... .......until its confirmed to be half empty! 😆😆😆
  12. KvV was brilliant for 6 months. The chances of us getting him back and him also replicating that form are slim. Lets just remember the good times and move on.
  13. The problem with speculate to accumulate is that it doesnt come risk free. Look at us under Dempster/McCall. We were spending significantly more then than we are now and we did get higher league positions, the odd cup run and European football. It was good fun, but we made significant losses every season that could not be sustained. Look at Dundee United, Hibs and Aberdeen. They have all been spending significant sums of cash in order to "speculate to accumulate" and none of them have any better recent records than ourselves. I think fiscal prudence in our current fan owned set up is not only wise but necessary to ensure our continued existence. The last couple of seasons havent been easy, but it looks like we will retian our top flight status this season and be in a better position to build and move forward next season. Given the changes that are coming down the line at executive level, keeping faith in the manager that has been through the process and allowing him to build in what he has done so far seems sensible to me.
  14. You are of course entitled to criticise SK and have done extensively. And of course you dont have to identify who you thing would do a better job than him. But by not doing so you leave a void and the credible argument presented previously, which is, there may not be anyone better on the money we are willing or able to pay. The list of candidates on the last 2 occasions was less than inspiring which is why Hammell and then Kettlewell got the job. Lets face it, with the budget we are running, its just not attractive to anyone with any pedigree. Which is why we get rookies & journeymen.......
  15. A number of credible candidates for CEO were identified during the interview process. The whole thing has been put on hold until the investment issue has been resolved because at least one of the investors wants to appoint their own CEO. Any suggestion that the current board have been ignoring this is patently nonsense.
  16. We were actually discussing at half time that Collum had, by his standards, a pretty good game yesterday and got pretty much everything correct, up until the VAR intervention. He could have looked at that and justified the goal on the basis that from the camera angles given the point of contact with Bairs arm isnt clear therefore no clear and obvious error. Onfield decision stands. We then discussed that, this would be the point it all unravelled for Collum and the game would become all about him. And so it turned out. Numerous baffling decisions for fouls both ways, the time wasting, as you mention, failing to book Roos. The yellow card for SK, the yellow card for SOD, only adding 3 mins when there were at least that for subs, never mind injuries and time wasting. His attitude towards our players at the end when awaiting VAR confirmation on the pen was just the icing on the cake. Ive no idea why matches turn out that way for him, but its like a switch flicks and he goes into meltdown. I despair when I see he is refereeing any of our games as it rarely ends well for us.
  17. I wouldnt be giving up on top 6 just yet. Hibs go to Ibrox next and we have St Mirren at home. If we could beat them it could be down to 3 points going into the last 2 games. If we can match their result against St Johnstone it will be all to play for in the last game. Goal difference is tight enough to still go in our favour. We need Rangers to despatch Dundee today though......
  18. If he isnt fit enough to be brought on, he shouldnt be on the bench. Nicholson starting instead of Davor was the one that really surprised me as he is a great impact player off the bench. I thought he did ok yesterday and was unfortunate to be hooked at half time but looking at what was needed over the 90 plus minutes it was a surprise he started. Can only assume maybe Davor was carrying a niggle given the choice was to bring Halliday on. You are correct that SK and his staff are the only ones who really know why certain decisions were made and there could be very justifiable reasons for team selections and substitutions, but without that information it all just looked a bit odd and is worthy of debate.
  19. I do know that. But he has at least played some senior football and was on the bench, so should have had at least 15 - 20 mins in him. Im not against playing young players. I just dont think today was the correct time and circumstance.
  20. I thought a number of players had decent first halves. But the levels dropped off in the second half with all the unforced changes from the mangager. I thought Vale had another very good 70 mins before he was undeservedly hooked. But Ive gone for SODs for Motm. Thought he was very solid at RWB, did well at RCB and showed some real leadership qualities trying to direct his team mates and effect the game.
  21. When I saw the starting line up today I did raise an eyebrow with the changes made and can only presume some players were unwell or carrying knocks. The back line seemed particularly negative with no Gent or Devine and the midfield too attacking with no Davor. It also left the bench looking like it was all eggs in one basket, with plenty to shore it up if we were ahead and not much to change it positively if we got behind. Thought we started slowly and let Aberdeen get the better of the early exchanges, but we seemed to grow into the game and it felt like another act of self harm when we gave up the opening goal. After that we had some good chances and should really have got level, even before VAR conspired against us. Second half, I couldnt really understand the substitutions. I can accept Gent being brought on to give us more width but he was largely ineffective and Im not sure what the purpose of bringing Halliday on was. I can only think SK thought we needed more control in midfield and maybe Davor wasnt fit. Otherwise its a mystery. We did play ok for the first part of the second half and created a few chances that were spurned but the rest of the substitutions were baffling. Taking Lennon Miller off was madness as we effectively gave up the midfield at that point and bringing 2 youngsters on when we were chasing the game was not fair on them. If Moses hasnt shown enough in training to get 15-20 mins in front of them at this point, Id question why we have given him a contract. Big Theo had a poor game and had run his race by then and should have been replaced before Vale for me. Need to see the Shinnie hand ball again, but it certainly looked a lot clearer than the Bair decision. All said and done though we didnt lost the game because of VAR. Bad finishing and poor in game management did that.
  22. Hard to know what to expect from Aberdeen next week. The whole Warnock thing seems like a shit show, and leaving suddenly without any apparent replacement waiting in the wings seems very weird. You would presume Peter Leven will get the job until the permanent manager is in place and he might steady the ship, but with the level of uncertainty hanging over the club and players its hard to see it going well for them. Glad we get to see what happens against Dundee before we have to play them.
  23. Great update Jay. Thanks for all the effort you and the rest of the Society Board are putting into this. Its the kind of thing that should have been happening from the outset. I get that there were lots of reasons it wasnt, but great to see that its getting done now. More power to you all.
  24. Some of that close contact stuff is pretty impressive. I love the bit where Lundstram tries to tackle him and just bounces off! Brilliant. No doubt Theo has worked hard with the manager to develop himself over the course of the season and its paying dividends for all concerned. I still think he has room to develop further and if he does what a player we will have on our hands. I think the concerns at the start of the season were probably justified. For me it was more the length of contract given rather than whether he would be any good or not. 2 years seemed like a bit of a risk on someone who hadnt really shown anything at this level. Glad to be proved wrong though and I would have no issues extending him on improved terms to protect our asset. Hopefully a push for top 6 and the guaranteed revenue that comes with it can come our way and allow us to start planning early for next season.
