  1. The difference in your attitude towards Hammell and KVV is mistifying to me. One is our post war record appearance holder and club legend. The other is a very talented but huffy manchild who conttributed to getting the former sacked due to his poor attitude. I would never have dropped KVV because without him we really didnt have goals in the team. And yes, the new formation does suit him better and is getting more out of him. Hammell, could have changed that but didnt. Thats on him. But as a senior pro, you can down tools like KVV did, or you can roll your sleeves up and give everything youve got, as he is now showing. Hammell is gone and no changing that. But you dont need to dance on his grave whilst glorifying a guy who may be a cult hero. But wont make it near our Hall of Fame.
  2. Some cant see past the end of their nose 😉
  3. Wasnt at the game, so wouldnt normally vote, but KVV deserves it for his brace. I was critical of his poor attitude and lack of effort (not his goal return!) at times under Hammell, but the last 4 games is the KVV we all know is in there. I know Obika takes a lot of the pressure off him work rate wise, but his willingness to drop deep, take the ball, or run channels, find space is night and day compared to before. Long may it continue.
  4. I think we have to play a certain way just now to get points on the board and allow us to get some defenders fit again. I think if you get to the stage where Butcher is in midfield and we are still secure at the back then Kettlewell might have some more freedom to play different formations/players.
  5. They were our "10man mirror image" until Saturday! 😄
  6. Be difficult to give it to anyone else other that Postecoglu and he's got plenty!
  7. Feels like a very good appointment. Plenty of experience. Its amazing how quickly things can turn around in a couple of weeks. Need to make sure we dont lose on Saturday. Then we can look forward to the run in with more confidence.
  8. Same as last week. A point is better for us than them and I take that right now. But it is a game we can win and should certainly be targetting it. Our record up there is decent and it will be nice for the players to get back on a decent grass pitch. Add in the Kettlewell / Spittal factor and I think we can get a positive result. Also MJC forecasts a comfortable defeat so hopefully his form in that regard continues! 😉
  9. Im hoping that Kettlewell feels that there is unfinished business for him in Dingwalll and he will have the players super focused on getting a result. Spittal going back as an ex player hopefully adds to the mix just as our ex players always seem to!
  10. I think the fact that QP are playing him through the middle will be helping him enormously. Whether he will ever be good enough for the Premiership remains to be seen. But it is nice to see him get a bit of respite. Hopefully he can use the time to regain his confidence and come back to us a better player.
  11. The ugly sisters apart, we should be targetting points against all the others. We need to keep this momentum going. I think 8 points from the last six games is acheivable and would effectively (if not mathematically) have us safe by the split. First things first though, do not lose in Dingwall. Offer them no hope whatsoever.
  12. Another game where a point is better for us than it is for them. A win would be huge. I would be tempted to freshen things up a little just to keep the players on their toes and throw Ross County a curve ball. Deano and Goss didnt have great games yesterday and neither could complain with the attacking options we have on the bench. Aitchison in partucular looked very good when he came on. All depends on how the gaffer sees it.
  13. No real stand outs today as most of our players really struggled on that pitch. I would probably have given it to Butcher or Casey, but how often do we score a free kick like that? Calum Slattery take a bow son.......
  14. Terrible game on a terrible pitch. Killie were the better team first half as we really struggled to get to grips with things, but we were much better 2nd half and thoroughly deserved our point. 2nd half they barely troubled us apart from cross balls and set peices, which is a sign that the defence is still holding up. Other than the goal I dont remember Kelly having a save to make. Their keeper on the other hand made 3 or 4 saves in the second half and was voted their MOTM! Absolute scenes at the end with Slattery's goal! All the more pleasing as it appeared a stick on penalty in the run up to it with Obika looking as if he was rugby tackled to the ground. Re the pitch, was talking to a few Killie supporting mates afterwards and they say they are in the process of building a new training complex out of town which is going to have facilities to allow their reserves and ladies team play out there. Once this is up and running they will be ripping that abomination up and laying a grass park again. No idea the timeframe, but welcome news.
  15. I like that, but surely its Kettleballed? 😆
  16. Glad to see its done. Would have preferred until the end of the season with the carrot of a 2 year contract if he kept us up, but understand why he would want more security than that if he is having to give up the development job. Good to see some positivity about the appointment. With the good start he has made it has re-energised the support, which in itself could make all the difference in our upcoming fixtures. Saturday is a big game. Looking forward to seeing a big travelling support and hopefully a big performance from the players.
  17. Ok I just got "whooshed" didnt I? Its the de Gea joke.......
  18. What does that mean? You cant seriously be saying he is away watching them instead of taking the team?
  19. No news yet? How long can it take? Hope this isnt hampering our preparations for Saturday!
  20. There is a world of difference between Alexanders long ball football and what we have winessed in the last 2 games. Under Alexander it was turgid shite and barely anything ever stuck up front. How we won so many games from the January to the December is a mystery to me. But he did win those games and our record was the best of the rest in the calendar year. Unfortunately he couldnt maintain the results and when the football is that bad to watch he was always on borrowed time. Whether he would have recovered the situation after Sligo, nobody knows, but I wasnt sad to see him go as I was at the point of giving the football up as it just wasnt enjoyable. The long ball stuff under Alexander was enjoyable initially as well up until Moult left and then our form fell off a cliff. But there is no doubt we were much better to watch when Turnbull came into the team. The last 2 games have been good and there has been enough football played to be entertaining. Obika is a better player with the ball at his feet than he gets credit for and he has breathed life into KVV which has to be welcomed. Like others hace said, it shouldnt need to be either or, we have enough quality in the forward areas to play football in the final third, but nothing wrong with being a little more pragmatic at times. Maybe that was Hammells downfall......
  21. Id go same again and only change it if its not working. We have got so many options off the bench in forward areas. Plenty of our bench got gametime for the reserves today so that should help should they be required.
  22. Some amount of animation on here today! What do folk really think our options are? 1. Take a chance on a guy who has been out of work for 2 years, his last job was a disaster and knows nothing about our players or the Scottish game. 2. Take a chance on a guy with an ok record but with no knowledge of our players or the Scottish game. 3. Take a chance on a guy who got his team promoted from the championship, only to be relegated again the next season when his budget was cut and his co-manager moved upstairs. He also knows our players, knows all our opponents and has back to back wins against the 3rd and 4th teams in the league with a set of players who hadnt won a game since October. We have 12 games to go folks and the next 2 games could see us safe if we win both. We dont have time to be f#cking around bedding in a new manager, new tactics etc. I still wouldnt give Kettlewell the job beyond the end of the season, but give him guarantee its his if he keeps us up. But making any other decision right now comes with massive risk attached. I found this quite interesting.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64712164
  23. I wouldnt imagine there will be many contracts being discussed until we find out what league we will be playing in. Doesnt make much sense for the club or the players.
