After three games which of our new signings are you writing off already.
-
It's definitely far to early to judge the new signings,i said on the dundee thread that I actually think we have signed quite well but the formation and how were looking to go about things is the big issue.
-
I agree with that, especially the last paragraph, add in the fact that donnolly looks miles off the pace in terms of fitness and sharpness, after being out so long it's clear that he isn't ready to be starting games.we can't afford to have both him and maguire in the team at the same time,it's clear already it doesn't work.im not a fan of a midfield three and if alexander is going to persist with it then there's serious work needing done starting with bringing in a player that's going to make a difference not just another squad filler like crawford.
-
On the face of it,I don't have to many problems with the signings that we have made so far,the problem lies in how we're going about things,it's clear to everybody that the system doesn't suit.there is absolutely no link up or cohesion in this team, the defence are on there own to deal with it,the midfield offers nothing defensively or in an attacking sense and that forward line today wouldn't be out of place in the league below playing like that.
-
Another games goes by where the glaring problems are there yet again for all to see,how many times do we need to see a game where it passes the midfield by and we're absolutely powder puff up front.
-
Simply not good enough from us today, were miles away from the required standard.
-
We don't even look like a team that played midweek in 30 degree heat with travelling involved,we look like a team that's never played with each other before,it's been shambolic so far,the midfield is still a concern but our defence fills me with zero confidence, you just know it's only a matter of time before we give away a soft goal, were always going to be on the back foot with this current defence.we need ojala in to hopefully make us better as lamie and mugabi just aren't upto it as a partnership and our full back are still giving away all the time under the sun for the opposition to put balls into the box.weve had a couple of good moments going forward but it's simply not enough for 45 minutes of football.
-
We've had a couple of good moments going forward but the same old frailties at the back have cost us.
-
The standard of goals we give away really are criminal
-
We definitely need another attacking option,i would like to see a left winger with a bit of pace brought in which would also give us the option of mixing it up more and playing watt more centrally.van veen looks like he will thrive on cross balls this season so another option out wide could work out really well for us.anybody know when shields is expected back?

I think shields will do well for us,hopefully he's not far away from being in contention.i wouldn't mind seeing a left winger come in that would allow us to play watt more centrally. -

Coming into this season i was worried about the spine of the team giving who we lost over the summer but having brought kelly back and the signings of slattery and van veen and an international centre half to come into the team, even though it's very early days we might actually be stronger than last season.after today I'm reasonably confident we will have a decent season by the time the new signings find there feet and guys like donnolly get back up to speed we will be fine.we still need atleast a couple more signings as the bench today was lacking in options especially in the forward area,if alexander can pull a couple more like van veen or slattery out the bag, that would be great -

I agree with that, hibs are one of the better sides in the league but there not any better than the other teams that finish 3rd in the league.they have a really good forward line that causes teams problems cause they interchange there positions really well but i wouldn't be in a rush to go and sign any of there defenders or midfielders. -

That was a kick in the balls, that we didn't deserve.there was a lot of positives to take from that and if we can play like that most weeks we will be absolutely fine.the defending for the hibs goals, the first and the one leading up to the penalty were school boy stuff,we really need to start defending the wider areas a lot better,to many times last season we got caught out with the same thing.i think the new signings will all add something especially van veen who was outstanding, woolery had to score though,if he did we would have got atleast a point.we have shields to come back but I would still like another forward in as well as a midfielder.all in all it was a good enough performance that we can definitely build on. -

We need to get a grip of the game in the middle of the park -
There's nobody that really stands out for me as our captain bit it makes sense to go with o'donnell, hopefully he thrives on the responsibility, good luck to him.
-
Some of watts best moments last season came when he was in a central position, his through ball for campbell's goal at kilmarnock and then a similar pass for roberts at easter road were both outstanding,he's wasted drifting out to the left,he's got a good footballing brain that can do damage if in the right areas, watt in behind woolery and van veen could be really interesting for us.
-
As things stand if cornelius isnt viewed as atleast fourth choice midfielder then it's best we get him out on loan,I would rather he played every week at a lower level than maybe find himself behind the likes of crawford, who should be moved on himself as he just isn't good enough.I would like to see us bring another midfielder in but that would surely only happen if we moved a couple on.

If the game was at easter road and they gave us an allocation i would have been chuffed so i can't say anything different that were letting hibs fans into the game, getting back to some kind of normality includes having away supporters and will definitely make sunday that wee bit more enjoyable, especially if we send them home miserable.while there is still restrictions in place it's impossible to get it right everytime and please everybody but hopefully were not far off where we can accommodate every motherwell supporter that wants to go to fir park without having any hassles. -
This has the potential to be a really good signing for us and hopefully the player that we are crying out for, happy with this one.
-
Agreed,I wasnt overly confident about last night and i wasn't that surprised that we lost the game but for as poor as we were in the previous two games i expected better than what was on show last night.its still very much evident that some just aren't good enough,we will never do anything as long as guys like lamie and crawford are about the place.alexander has to take his share of the blame for last night too,I still can't get why he's put o'donnell straight into the team, the guy clearly and rightfully deserves a rest,if he isn't left out and we bring johnstone in on saturday then the mind will truly boggle.
-
I see alexander is saying the players need to start taking things more "seriously",to me that's pretty concerning as we heard similar last season not just from alexander but from robinson and lasley too.
-
I have to agree about the defence it's just not good enough and relying on mugabi coming back isn't the answer, lamie is our main centre half right now and that says it all.we need to sign a centre half and one that is being brought in to play to make us better.we need a creative player in the middle of the park and then use one of our current holding players as just that, sit in front of the centre halfs at all times and protect them and don't move, that should be there role nothing more than that, our defenders are woefully exposed in the current set up,all it takes currently is one pass and our entire midfield three is took out the game because they all run about like headless chickens, some discipline is seriously needed in the middle of the park.
