  1. Has to be Ruddy, but I think O'Brien deserves a mention for winning yet another penalty with his clever play. He also deserves an even bigger mention for not picking the ball up when it was given!

Agreed , bamboozles me when he is lauded on here for doing sweet FA to hurt the other team , wins a significant number of MOTM votes for missing a last minute penalty in a 0-0 and then when he does do something productive in a game he ends up with less votes than Steve Jennings who looked off the pace for the 30 mins he was on !?

BTW O'brien was his usual yesterday but i'll put up with it if he is going to take on a defender in the box once a game and win us the game through it - every week Jim , make me eat my words !

  2. Self righteous? Moi? Fuckin' Hell, last week I was a bigot, today I'm a self righteous pontificator. Really couldnae make this up.

It wasnt aimed at you in particular but are you saying you've never done worse than shouted abuse at the game ? And that the youth of today could learn from the eighties where those smartly dressed youths stopped and had a ponder when the older fans said '"c'mon chaps , have a think"

Cant believe ive added another post to this shite and helped it towards a 7th page

  3. Who shagged all the boys ?

The stuff about Dene Shields eye ?

Shouts about hoping players die - heard before and after Phil

If you want to go back further Justin Fashanu got it bad

and back in the days before seats there was even swearing at the games

Maybe if youve personal experience of paedophilia you are more annoyed about yesterday ? Its not a pleasant subject but when were drunk football fans ever pleasant to the opposition ?

and where and when did this cuddly Liviesque reputation of Motherwell's support come from that you are fighting to defend ?

Dead horse and flogging come to mind - i dont think you are going to be getting a written apology from those that are admitting to singing it

I agree with you that it was in bad taste and a bit unimaginative , maybe ive just been to so many football games that it goes in one ear and out the other

It isnt true but then again they arent all sheep shagging bastards either , dont suppose folk like it being said that they pump animals any more than they do kids if its to be taken seriously and not as a noise up from drunk football fans and im sure even the tabloids can work out which of the two yesterday was.

Good luck on the rest of the thread and on cleaning up the terraces

  4. Well I was just waiting on confirmation just in case I read it wrong. I have had a season ticket at Motherwell for about 17 years. I go to most away games, however this one I was working. I have no days left as I used them all for the European run and won't get any until April. I didn't go to Aberdeen and I'm sure others had valid reasons for not attending. So because they didn't attend one game it bans them from ever taking a differing opinion from someone else?

Fair enough my boss never gave me an extra day off than everyone else in my work! Sorry disregard my opinion I will shut the fuck up.

Well ignoring completely the fact that it wasnt you that was quoted ....

It wasnt just a differing opinion . What right has someone that wasnt there to tell someone that was to go support another club because of a song that wasnt even sung ?

Hope you manage to decipher this ok.

  5. Not that it makes it any more factual, but it is also reported in the Mail that there were chants of f****n b.. etc.

Lying bastard journo's again then ????

Well not one single Motherwell fan heard it even those being most vocal about the chants that did happen and an Aberdeen fan sitting beside the away support is saying its lies on the Scotland on Sunday comments section under their report.

  6. I see in the NOTW there were also chants of f****n bastard?

How retarded are some of our fans?

Fuck off back to supporting the old firm, theres no place for that at fir park.

I just hope this doesnt continue as there will be a vast amount of kids not being allowed to go anymore.

Is there something strange in this post where someone who wasnt at Aberdeen is telling folk that were to go back to supporting another team because of something that wasnt sung ?

  7. Just back and a wee bit worse for wear so I'll keep it short.

The game wasn't up to much, but gannons tactics were spot on, nullified aberdeens attack and if only for more clinical finishing would have taken the three points.

We have a section of our fans (which is fairly new for the away support) who are a total embarassment! I'm honestly sick, fed up of listening to these wee bawbags chanting absolute baws at any opportunity!

Fair enough, give mcghee abuse, the boy deserves it, but the patter today was cringeworthy to say the least.

Should have been walking out of pittodrie with the heid held high today, great point away from home, but just couldn't do it. Ashamed.

Do Aberdeen have an attack !?

They had a wean playing in defence in his second or third game , id have liked us to have gotten at him but unfortunetly our midfield including our very own Pele who started up against him was back to his not really doing anything productive in attack mode.

Its a "meh" point , much the same as at St Johnstone , hardly a cause for street parties IMO especially as we barely created a chance at all

As for the fans it was OTT but ive heard worse , what a bunch of wummin we have whinging and moaning away about our fans and what the Sunday Mail thinks of us.

  8. Sorry I'm no being a dick here, I just don't understand your point. Do you mean Davie Cooper , Uncle Phil and all the ex players who have died in the past because I'm sure they have had tributes in various forms.

Im not trying to be a dick either though ill probably get a barrage saying that i am. Id imagine there are more than that who have played for us and sadly passed away in the time frame you are talking about. Why should we hold a minutes silence or worse applause for everyone that ever kicked a ball for us , Fir Park is a football stadium , not the local branch of Dundas Fyfe.

Paul McGrillen wasnt a bad player who was never a star for us IMO , he left us about 15 years ago and never won any honours so doesnt really qualify as a club legend whether he was in the former players club or not

As for chanting to help his wife deal with the sorry situation , she found him and now she is left to pick up the pieces "One Paul McGrillen" might not be what she is wanting to hear.

    Tin hat firmly on

  9. How's about a few choruses of "Only One Paul McGrillen" (and the others too) at the next home game. At least it's paying our respects in SOME way. Really kind of shocked that nothing has taken place.

When you say "the others too" do you mean every player we've ever had that has subsequently died ?

  10. That sounded painful for you. You wanted so much (and would have preferred) to say he's shite didn't you?

    :lol::lol: I call it as i see it !

I dont think if we have other options he should be near the team on the evidence so far (over the past year) . IMO he isnt threatening enough in attack and has been a bomb scare defensively this season - the first couple of mins against the Albanians at Airdrie he made a mistake and let the boy in , we couldve been out on our ear instead of an 8-1 win and the money for getting through, his efforts at both Saints goals last week didnt inspire, i dont suppose he pretends that defending is his strongest point though.

He had IMO his best game for us yesterday but like Jim Gannon i thought he couldve done better. It was far from a perfect performance but then again he only needs to be slightly better than shite for some folk to vote him MOTM every week on this site !

That Jim Jeffries says we won fair and square tells you what Killie offered yesterday but that aside O'Brien's confidence must be high so hopefully we get the same from him next week if he is playing as frankly the likes of next week is the type of games where i think he's offered nothing in the year he's been here.

Hopefully you are right and im wrong and yesterday was the launchpad for his season , we can be doing with all the good players we can get - without using the "s" word you tee'd me up with though i just dont see it in him

Well played yesterday though and good to see his never in question effort be rewarded.

Hopefully its the beginning of the second coming :(

  11. Good to get a win today against a team that, as others have pointed out, we have struggled against no matter how good or bad their team is.

I thought we started quite brightly today and once we got the first goal, the result was never really in doubt. Kilmarnock never offered much today but a lot of that can be put down to the fact we spotted where the threat would be and nullified it for the most part. Kyle got one free header all day, and the whole back four need to take a lot of credit for that. But for me, Hutchison was outstanding. Against a guy whose goalscoring record for Kilmarnock is phenomenal, he looked like he'd been playing in the SPL for years. And as for his goal, as Craig Paterson said on Radio Scotland "will give centre halves a bad name". Aye, other centre halves...

Going forward, the emergence of Forbes and Slane has overshadowed a wee bit the fact that in Coke and O'Brien, we've got two guys who've been fantastic. Coke looks like a great acquisition, the only fear being that we should enjoy him as much as we can this season because if he keeps up his form, he'll be hard to keep a hold of. O'Brien has done well this season, having been asked to play in a couple of different positions. Today, he was immense. He seems determined to score a goal with one touch from a throw in, similar to that effort he had against the post last week. He tried it twice today and went close again on both occasions. Strange to think that at 22 and 23, O'Brien and Coke are the senior men in our midfield at the moment. O'Brien is another guy whose contract is up next summer. Maybe time to start talking to him now?

All in all a lot to be positive about today. As someone else stated, we never hit the heights we did against Bucharest (1st half in Airdrie) and in the second half last week, but still dealt with Kilmarnock with little trouble. They had a 15-20 minute spell in the second half where they had a lot of the ball, but we limited them to playing in front of us.

All I know is that I saw more smiling faces leaving Fir Park today than I had in a while...

He had a decent game today

The two goals from last week are available to watch on BBC !

  12. Fair play , im one of O'Brien's fiercest critics but he done well on the ball today for the first two goals (he wasnt going any further at the second !) . Probably the best game ive seen him have in a Motherwell shirt (not much competition IMO) and still believe he'll have to do better than today if he doesnt want to lose his place when Slane is fit !

  13. The ref's shorts and suit jacket combo in the first game is an absolute belter.

When did refs stop wearing that rig out ? Ive seen pictures of Tiny Wharton refereeing in it in the 60s , maybe later , was it being worn as late as the 70s ?

  14. I dont imagine the queue is going to be around the block for O'Brien. He isnt going to end up at anywhere better than Fir Park , i very much doubt if any other SPL club would be interested, id rather keep our cash and see who else we could get for our money.

Slane , McHugh , Murphy (Coke , Humphrey , Archdeacon) all offer more going forward IMO and in defence he is no use at all

  15. Forbes and Slane were superb. It makes a mockery of someone (with a big face) last season saying how our lack of squad depth was responsible for poor form in November. McShovelface talked about giving Slane his chance. Forbes never got a look in. Gannon has come in and they've played four competitive games, not letting themselves down. What has he seen that our previous manager couldn't? I'm not going to burden Slane with the new McFadden tag, but he has some of the same qualities; cocky, ball hungry, aggressive, fearless. Forbes ooozes class. I can't think of a Motherwell player, but he reminds me of a young Barry Ferguson, comfortable on the ball, seems to glide about the park, yet willing to get stuck in.

To be fair Slane is still quite slight just now , he may have even been a good bit smaller last season , our pitch wouldnt have helped him and throwing in a 16yr old winger when on a bad run and looking for a saviour isnt something many managers would do.

Both have played well and could do a job when the league starts , particularly Slane IMO , Forbes im not so sure about , brilliant last night but the space and time Llanelli and that mob last night gave our midfield isnt going to be there in the SPL.

Hopefully both are given time to develope and not laden with unrealistic expectations. Tin hat on , i think some folk are going overboard on what we've seen so far.

This Euro thing has turned out as well as we couldve expected though. Confidence is high , we've made a few quid , its ensured we've took pre season seriously and theres no real shame if we go out now.

Well done the team last night , put themselves in the history books with a performance that deserved it.

Oh and just noticed Slane wasnt born when we won the cup , i feel old

  16. People applauding two guys who had just come off and already had a round of applause coming off, and they didn't particularly have a good game.

    Slanes was probably deserved.

At one point, it looked like they were clapping for nothing.

Clapping a ball boy. Twice.:woop:

Aye i was half expecting the ball boy to be named MOTM on here by the usual suspects.

Well done to Paul Slane again tonight , yet again he showed our alleged wide midfielders what they should be but havent being doing against , not to put too fine a point on it , shite. 3 cheers too for the manager who hasnt taken long to clock on where the waste of a jersey is in there.

  17. Please please please say straight home after the game,

back in time for Friday night shift this may be my only chance of seeing this one

Ditto, check in at 0730 on the Friday at Glasgow for me , a risk im willing dying to take

  18. Somewhere in Netherton used to have a contract to make the repli-kits for Liverpool and the likes , was that Daiwa sports ?

Im with you , worth looking into.

Though theres a chance we were getting Canterbury . Xara , Bukta etc cheaper than Daiwa could do if they were being made in India/China or similar.

  19. Surely this can't be true

It isnt , look back through the thread , not sure about RJ but Solskjaer's name was on an agents list that was faxed through - a large agents list that half the professional clubs in Britain mightve recieved. He was never anywhere near Fir Park .

Hypia and the likes may be true , we went through a fair amount of trailists back then. Peggy Arphexad , Marvin Andrews spring to mind.
