  1. Absolutely. If we get beaten, as I expect us to on Saturday, we'll have 3 points more than I anticipated before the season kicked off.

Out of interest how much would the manager have to spend before you would expect more than 0 points from 12 ?

I wasnt one of the cheerleaders who was fooled by the play offs , thought Johnson was Ronaldo or even got anywhere near excited by the summer signings.

It isnt the Champions League we're in though and relatively speaking some serious cash has been spent by this guy.

It's early days , hopefully the goals start going in for us soon. Definsively im not expecting them to improve much if any , we know what we have back there and have decided to stick with it, Hopefully the supposidly lesser teams will cause us less damage at that end of the park.

  2. Please god no

I well remember him greeting about our fans and saying he'd never play for us

Would just about round off a completely underwhelming, bordering on worrying group of signings this window for me.

  3. I like Skippy, but I don't think he's that influential - especially as our biggest failings tend to be in defence.

His timely signing and goals had a fair influence on us (just) finishing above St Mirren last season if you ask me

  4. Have macron failed to deliver on training kit so far? Seems mostly last season's gear on show in Holland with those horrendous luminous jackets

Apparently Baraclough is quite happy with what we had last season :whistling:

  5.

    Based on....?

Not meaning to sound so pessimistic but we've signed a couple of conference players, a forward who was released by Dundee, a youth from Celtic and a cb who was part of some shocking defensive performances last season. Not exactly the most exciting signings and looking at what we started last season with we have a far weaker squad now and even with another 2/3 signings it'll be no stronger than what we had last season. Not saying we'll be relegated but a top half finish is pretty optimistic in my opinion.

Most exciting pre season in years apparently ...

  6. Motherwell are 66/1 to win league w/o celtic.

Can get 1/3 of the odds for each way (1st or 2nd without celtic)

Paddy Power has us joint 2nd favs to finish bottom , stone cold last , they arent as deluded as some ...

  7. Lets not forget that Laing, Long, Grant etc were in the team for some of our worst performances in recent years.Just because they had a couple of good games at the end of the season doesn't mean they'll be good enough to get us further up the league this time.In my opinion the standard of players we're going for aren't any better than what we had and anything above 11th would be a good season.

Yip , that Sevco team even made McManus look half decent , the rest of the SPFL certainly never though. The bottom 6 performances when it was in our hands and we were playing for our survival were abject , to keep it clean. Id be looking elsewhere for a keeper and centre half.

Im hoping we bring in someone with some leadership skills. Ideally the new boys will bring goals with them and we wont miss McDonalds (5 in 11 according to wiki) we will miss his drive , enthusiasm and confidence to tell the others to get the finger out though when things arent going well , all too often some of them looked as if they couldnt give one last season.

  8. Clarkson when he first broke thru was one the most entertaining exciting young talents Scotland had produced.

O'Connor is a couple of years older than Clarkson and was an established player when Clarky was a prospect. If you look at Seib's comment he said he was one of the most exciting talents - at no point did he claim him to be better than anyone.

Other than the others that Scotland has produced over the years ye mean !?

He may have been one of the best in his age group to come out of Hamilton i'll give him that

Good luck and hope he does a job for us.

  9. Clarky is replacing Sutton! We need experience in the team and he will bring that.

Fact is if we bring in Skippy and look at Moore as the replacement for Erwin then we are in the same place as last season.

Or if we get say a Lyle Taylor as replacement for Erwin then we are in a stronger position.

The negativity towards this signing is mental. Clarky and Sutton are a very similar level of player.

If last season showed us anything it was that when you have a keeper and defenders who arent good enough (yet you pursue to resign the following season) and you add in a striker who doesnt score goals then relegation is a distinct possibility

Folk who spent time and money travelling away in particular wont need reminding how pathetic we were last season and how big an improvement is needed , are Chalmers and Clarkson a big improvement ?

Maybe , hopefully the signings still to come inspire me with a bit more confidence though

Two enjoyable wins over Sevco doesnt hide the fact that Baraclough failed miserably to raise that squad for the "must win" post split fixtures , new and much better players are needed, talk is cheao.relegation isnt.

  10. Got a feeling County's last minute equaliser in Baraclough's first game will come back to haunt us.

Thinking it was ok to piss about for 45 minutes and then pat ourselves on the back for getting a point against 10 man Killie is still the one thats niggling at the back of my mind as what might be the sickener. Whats gone before counts for fuck all though. It's down to the next 3/4 games and It's still in our hands IMO.

Need to win on Saturday though , over to you lads ... (with the now almost traditional post NDP rhetoric ringing in my ears for the third time in a year about knowing they let us down and being out to show us something about it next time)

As an ST holder i hope they open the gates and announce it early to try and get a crowd in .

PS It's a cold day in hell before i'll ever be scared of Ross County coming to Motherwell

  11. Absolutely. For better or for worse much of the new venture's business would be based on the proximity of Fir Park and of course MFC. Any new owner would know that perfectly well and I just hope they don't soak up business from our club, without any symbiosis.

If the club wanted to make money from it they should have bought it . Good luck to those willing to pony up and take the risks themselves.

  12. Not that I'm in anyway giving giving any credence to the suggestion but the location quoted isn't a kick in the arse away in all honesty.

Its fairly obvious thats who it is , the board wait until a confidential deal is almost done and then they get the phone out and ring Rab McKinnon before making their way through any still living former managers in alphabetical order , McCall wouldve known our business very early on.

  13. He's come on twice and done well.

No one is saying he is due the ballon d'or just worth a game in midfield ahead of tried and tested proven shite like reid, vigurs and law.

At Paisley his fucking about on the edge of the box couldve cost us the win seconds before the end of the game.

Im not having a go , merely pointing out that he is human as some on here have the opinion that might be beyond that , generally the same folks who wouldve been forming a lynch mob outside had John Sutton fucked up the chance Erwin had at 2-0 over in Hamilton.

Anyway , time to head up

    2-0 us (Erwin , Thomas)
