  1. I don't think there's a need as such, just that a few people have expressed the wish on the thread and it had been said that there would need to be feedback from Mfc before this could go ahead, as yet, I haven't seen any response on behalf of the club. I have actually tried to make some kind of contribution to the memorial fund, I went to the benefit night, I donated to the fund for the flag and I bought a couple of the dvds. The point that I was trying to make was that people have asked if a minute's applause would be appropriate, they were told it would need to be run by the people at MFC and there hasn't been a response as yet which doesn't leave a lot of time for fans to be told yes or no. The players with their huddle are having a public show of memorial. Of course they were closer to Phil than most of us were, but given that a lot of fans were at the game and saw what happened, perhaps fans just want to show some support for the players. So if the huddle has been given the ok, surely Motherwell can say yes or no to the fans before Saturday.
  2. It's 2 days to go till the game, I appreciate that staff probably won't be back at work until Saturday, but that's the day of the game and it looks as if there has been no yes or no from the club regarding the minutes applause. I think the minutes applause is a good idea but seeing as the players are having the huddle before kick off perhaps the minutes applause could be done then. I know that it's important to take the wishes of the players into account and the O'Donnell family but do the club need to give permission for fans to clap their hands on the 78th minute of the game? What would happen if fans decided to do it anyway, there's not a lot the club could do about it. As it is, it seems that it might be too late for the club to give a yes/no and for the message to be passed to the fans.

    Porter

Oh yes, the tosser who didn't think Phil O'Donnell's death was worthy enough of a minute's silence.
  4. People have been giving you pelters for a month? A whole month? Usually the mention that you support the Well is enough to have people taking the piss.
  5. Merry Christmas, here's hoping 2009 is a good one for everyone and for Motherwell fc.
  6. McGhee was on the news saying Porter hasn't signed a contract with anyone.
  7. The above is a rumour also isn't it? "Reliable source?" A player, player's dad, tea lady, someone who had their ear pressed up against the dressing room wall said that Mark McGhee has the confidence of the players. Either name your source or leave it out.
  8. I actually agree with you on this one, if there were stories of McGhee in screaming and shouting at players shocker, then I think we'd be on here giving him pelters, he doesn't scream and shout and he's still getting pelters. If someone's confidence is at rock bottom, shouting and screaming at them isn't going to motivate them. Craigan mentioned it on the radio show, he spoke about situations where managers shouted and screamed in people's faces and if it had been anyone on the street doing it he'd have smacked them in the face. Of course the culture in football is different but that doesn't necessarily make it acceptable. The players seem to be at an all time low, shouting and screaming in their faces telling them they are crap isn't necessarily the best way to motivate them at this point in time. They get enough of that from the sidelines at times.
  9. He did mention during the hour that he had been in training earlier on in the day. I enjoyed the show, I felt a bit better about things after listening to it, I know that Craigan was obviously not going to be able to say anything against McGhee on live radio so who knows what's really going on behind the scenes, he did have a laugh and a joke but when asked directly about the state the team are currently in, he didn't sound as if he thought the way we are playing at the moment was a big laugh. Hearing that only one of the players acknowledged the fans on Saturday at the end pissed me off more than Craigan being on live radio, but again, it's whatever cheeses you off at the time.
  10. I don't know how long in advance Craigan would have been asked to appear, it could have been arranged months ago, I think if he had cancelled it would have looked worse.
  11. You could hardly not laugh at some of the questions that were posted on here that he was asked.
  12. Yeah it should definitely have been cancelled because Accies beat Motherwell the day before. Lets put a ban on laughing or having any fun until Motherwell score again.
  13. I don't shout abuse at the games but I can understand why supporters are getting pissed off. As I said in my original post, where I sit in the East, there are fans who sit near me who didn't have a good word to say about the team last season, never mind this. You get a 90 minute running commentary of why someone is rubbish and of course they get told how they could be doing it better. I think there's a vast difference between supporters booing out of sheer frustration at a time when Motherwell are playing poorly and people who go week in week out who don't have a good word to say about anyone. I think a lot of us have been scunnered lately to say the least and I've said what I think about McGhee in other threads. However, it's crunch time now, we do need to get behind the team.
  14. I don't blame people for crawling out the woodwork when there's a big game on. I'd rather have thousands more Motherwell fans out there than not. I'm actually sick of hearing the who is the best fan argument, there has been talk on boards about people not being allowed to go to the Cup game unless they see Motherwell home and away. It's not a competition and a lot of people don't have the money to watch football week in week out. I agree with you, booing someone as he warms up is awful. People get criticised for saying what they feel on here but I'd rather say what I thought on here than boo at the ground and by that I mean, there are fans who start booing and criticising players from the minute the game starts. Not just when we are playing badly either. I don't have kids and I'm afraid that I don't have pals who support the Well either. The team do need a boot in the baws from us when they are playing the way they are at the moment. Too many players out there look as if they have given up and don't give a toss about Motherwell. I've watched Motherwell go through worse spells than this but at the moment we look as if we have a team who don't care and a manager who couldn't care less, yet fans are expected to pay good cash to watch Motherwell. It does work both ways but the players need to look like they give a toss.

    Mark McGhee

It has been said that Leitch is taking a lot of the training sessions because of the amount of time McGhee is spending down south due to the recent birth of his baby.
  17. You can download it from the bbc website
  18. Possibly the fact that it was all ticket didn't help either.
  19. Do you think we'll score a goal between now and the end of the season? If so, who do you think will score it?

I'd like to share your optimism, but I don't. We don't look like a team who will bounce back, our squad is paper thin and there are players who will be off in January. We have a manager who seems to care only about himself and giving spin to the press to take the edge of our current plight. We have fans who are saying they won't be back at Fir Park because of various things that have happened this season. Goal difference is keeping us off bottom spot and we play ICT next week. We cannot go through the rest of the season hoping that Hamilton are going to get beaten every week because at the moment that's the difference between us and the first division. We also have a chairman who doesn't want to spend money, except to double McGhee's wages. I hope that decision doesn't end up costing Motherwell dear.

Of course he will stay, on this showing what interest is he going to attract from elsewhere. Hearts fans must be be so glad he didn't take the job on.
  22. I agree, I also think we are going down, and I think that if we lose the next 2 games McGhee should walk. Usually when you are scraping along the bottom of the league you can console yourself with the thought that there's always someone worse than you who will lose games in the run in. Sadly, today we showed that we don't even have the players to get a result against the team who have been newly promoted and would normally be people's tip for the drop. They want to stay in the SPL, we just seem to be a side full of people who think that no matter what, Motherwell will stay up. If McGhee does stay and we keep losing, I'd like to see what he comes up with when it gets to the stage that it's mathematically impossible for us to catch up.
  23. How are we at our level? We might have overachieved last season but surely that should have shown the football Motherwell can play when we feel like it. We aren't too good to be relegated and this run of form is clearly showing that but no way should we be losing the games that we are at the moment. How long has it been since we were in division 1? 22 years, 23 years? Yes we have escaped relegation by the skin of our teeth on a few occasions but come on, I know lots of people weren't great fans of Butcher but at least we saw the top half of the table when he was manager. Obviously teams like Hamilton have a bit of hunger because they want to stay in the SPL. This run isn't what Motherwell fans should have to put up with, it's shocking, we can play decent football, but it looks like we have just given up already.

Agreed, they are a fucking joke of a club, but a joke of a club that are 4th in the table.

Loyalty won't mean anything when we get relegated, which we will, if we keep up this form. McGhee will be ok one way or another, if he walks or he is sacked he'll get another job. It won't just be players/managers on the line if we go down, it will be office/backroom staff as well, people who get paid a pittance compared to McGhee. There's loyalty and there's blind loyalty. There's nothing to stop McGhee walking out. So what, we would be managerless going into the ICT game. Would anyone notice the difference, can morale get any lower than it currently is? Malpas didn't get us relegated and he went, on this showing, we are heading towards the SPL exit door. It's not fans who need to stand up and be counted at the moment, it's McGhee and at a time where he could/should be showing a bit of honesty/despair at the plight we are in, we get yet more pathetic excuses. Time to go.
