  1. My heart sank when Rangers were awarded the inevitable soft penalty, I was standing with my dad and some other folk from the Forth, Lanark & Carluke supporters bus and we couldn’t believe what we were seeing. I really felt for the players that night as they didn’t deserve to lose that one. We never really turned up for the Airdrie semi final replay and probably got what we deserved. A cliché, however, it was probably our best chance opposition wise, to reach a cup final in the 1970s.
  2. One of the saddest nights I ever had watching the Well in the 70s, I was depressed for days after that one. It was only equaled by defeats from both Airdrie and Rangers in the semi final of the domestic cups. Those three defeats still hurt to this day.
  3. Especially when playing Tottenham Hotspur in the Texaco Cup.
  4. Was there not also a boy who used to wander around the trackside at half-time with the lucky programme number written on a board?
  5. I agree. At this present time we are a 90 minute ‘no goal’ to ‘one goal’ team, which will probably mean that we will lose us more games that we will win in the Premiership. Goals win games and unfortunately, that’s something that is in short supply down Fir Park way.
  6. The smell of those ‘toilets’ will live with me for the rest of my life.
  7. I was fortunate to make the game and although it was only a friendly testimonial played at half pace, our inability to score goals is still slightly worrying. We look as if we could play all season without worrying the opposition defence too much, thank god for Kilmarnock.
  8. I am sure there will be a few ‘housewives’ out in force to salute their pin up boy as well. The more who turn out the merrier for this great servant to Motherwell Football Club, just keep your tackle in your pants lads!
  9. Sadly I am not sure if I can make this one, however, Keith deserves a good turn out.
  10. Those were the days, sadly I am old enough to remember before the fence was erected. Occasionally they would open the gate and allow you to wander, however, at the majority of games it remained closed.
  11. I agree, we have secured a short loan deal on a very promising young player who plays for one of the most successful clubs in the world. What’s not to like?
  12. Still no news, I assume we have not managed to get anyone in before the 11pm deadline.
  13. My EE signal works well from where I sit in the East Stand.
  14. And right on queue, there will be extended highlights of todays game on BBC Alba tomorrow evening.
  15. I thought Thomas was our stand out player and always looked dangerous on the ball.
  16. An important 3 points, however, despite having loads of possession we still didn’t look like scoring more than one goal throughout the entire 90 minutes. If any team can score two against us they will have a good chance of winning the game.
  17. A Tweet from Flow on the amount of strikers that Baraclough had in mind...
  18. It did seem strange, surely there were other positions that needed strengthening before the deadline closes? I reckon Baraclough has a vision of building a team of ten strikers with the motto, attack is the best form of defence . Anyone know a goalkeeper we could sign, who at some point has played up front?
  19. Agreed, love him or hate him the game needs players like Higginbotham.
  20. I vote that we just keep adding new players until we get it right. A first team squad of around 100 should just about do it.
  21. Straight into the starting eleven for tomorrow’s game against Kilmarnock.
  22. However, that could be said of a good few players who have been handed extended deals at Motherwell (he would have been a much better asset than lets say Bob McHugh). Sometimes you need to take a gamble on ‘luxury’ players, and when he is on form he is a class above (the chipped penalty v Celtic is just another example of how much confidence the boy has in his own ability).
  23. This is a worry and Law will require as much help as possible, as on his day Higginbotham can be a handful. I always remember the scissor kick goal that he scored for us against Hibs, it was different class. I thought he deserved a deal at Fir Park, however, those in charge at the time obviously thought differently.
  24. Moult has done more in the last few games than some players do in a full season. He appears to be a hard worker and he has also delivered on the goals front, I think we need to cut him some slack.
