  1. I have suggested that damage limitation tactic a few times over the years, maybe now is the time to see if we can use it Just curious does that rule actually exist in the SPFL rules and if so has it ever been put into force?
  2. Then Bob wakes up and realises it was all just a dream.
  3. Same was said about yesterdays game that there was no chance that Albion Rovers would beat us, and low and behold they did just that. While I don’t think we will lose 7 Celtic should win by a convincing margin.
  4. Yesterdays game is still very raw but here goes... With a possible record low crowd (against the Old Firm) combined with a potential record high score it could be a long night at the Ark. Celtic will be far too strong for a Motherwell team that will still be suffering from the mother of all hangovers. I will probably decide nearer the time whether to bother to make the trip along the M74 for this one. Bring your Seville calculator as you just might require one to tally up the goals reining in on Gunner Nielsen. At this moment in time we are not causing teams any trouble with our absent goal threat and I don’t see this changing even against one of the weakest Celtic teams that I have seen in some time. I thank god that we are not playing Dundee United as I believe with the way they are playing they could really cause us some damage on Friday night. I am being conservative with the score line, however, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more... 4-0 to the team in green and white.
  5. On todays performance I doubt whether he will be moving anywhere in January.
  6. I've been coming to games regularly since 1967 and not missed many home games since then. Today is up there with one of the worst results that I can remember.
  7. There was a few disastrous league cup games in the mid to late 90s against Alloa (0-0, lost on pens?) and Ayr (2-0), however this performance even tops them. We were woeful today and deserved nothing from the game, a massive well done to Albion Rovers.
  8. I am looking forward to this match, the last time I was at Hamilton’s ground was at the old Douglas Park. I wonder how many local Well fans will be making the short trip over for the game?
  9. One of the most well known sash shirts is worn by Peru. Umbro currently produce their kit and I was curious to see how a Peru top would look in C&A. With Umbro’s whole retro vide the top looks as if it belongs in the 1970s. Depending on your views on a return of the sash, some might say that’s were it should stay. Personally I would love to see it make a one off return and who better to launch it than our very own Wullie P.
  10. Sadly this is the best option for Motherwell FC. In order to get some cash for Hutchy, I would make it someones full time job to make sure he gets a move in January.
  11. Looks like we have been bitten again, we should adapt Jim McLean’s philosophy and sign youngsters on 25 year deals, that way we will always get a return on our investment.
  12. Try telling that to the likes of Aberdeen who have endured a few embarrassing defeats at the hands of so called part timers in recent years. Yes they are part time, however, it is 11 v 11 and in football anything can happen. In saying that I would want some answers if we didn’t come out of this one as comfortable winners.
  13. While it won’t be easy it would be a major shock if we were knocked out by Albion Rovers. I am going for a comfortable 4-1 win.
  14. If they calm the over use of their logo and the occasional madness on things like the shape of the shorts, they have the ability to produce some nice designs. The recent unbranded Roma kit was produced by Macron, although the design was influenced by the club and fans through an online vote. They have produced some nice Macron branded kit for teams like Lazio and FC Lorient. Tradition mixed with subtle design is the key to a good looking football kit. Unfortunately we are not in the position to pick and choose how our kit will look, however, we can be clever about which template we select and the manufacturer we choose to make it.
  15. Any updates on who will be making our kit next season? As I have previously stated I would stick with Puma, however there has been some nice templates produced from a few other manufacturers of late. I am not 100% certain how the club/manufacturer kit market works, however, I don’t think we would ever get an adidas or Nike deal. The main reason being we don’t sell enough replica gear for them to bother making bespoke kit in C&A. Bradford City wear Nike however with average home crowds of anything between 10,000 to 13,000 they will certainly sell more replica kit than us. So this leaves us with either sticking with the status quo, or taking a risk with a new brand like Macron. The dark horses would have to be Admiral or Umbro who are both making moves to get back into the UK kit scene. Either of them would suit me, however, Macron would be a risk due to there inconsistent designs. It seems for every good one they produced they release two or three horrific templates. Hopefully the club will announce an extension to our current Puma/Genesis Sport deal soon or maybe (in dreamland!) a big money deal with a new supplier.
  16. Hopefully Faddy will fight through his performance slump and we are not witnessing the slow demise of a Scottish football legend. Whatever is wrong with Faddy (fitness, confidence) I really hope and pray that he gets one more crack at the big time either with Scotland, us or another side.
  17. He has had two good chances according to the Radio Scotland. The second one really should have been 1-0 to us.
  18. Killie are dreadful, however we haven’t been that great either of late. I’ll go for a narrow 2-1 win for the Well.
  19. ...and two of the best own goals you will ever see.
  20. Don’t say I’m not good to you. A potential retro classic?...
  21. I have a vague recollection that the ruled may have been eased on that one, however, I am not sure if it applies to teams in the top league. In saying that I am sure Killie had USH, or maybe it’s bust.
  22. I haven’t posted a shirt in a while so here is another one gathering dust in my old hard drive. As a fan of the 1970’s NASL kits ( Philadelphia Fury, New York Cosmos, Rowdies ect...) I have always loved this style of shirt. The main manufacturers from the time were Admiral and adidas and this is how I envisaged Admiral would have interpreted a Motherwell away with a slight 1970s NASL style. In many ways our Admiral 1991 home shirt had a 1970s Philadelphia Fury design feel to it. The shoulder flashes were very similar to Fury’s Admiral and adidas tops from the 1970s/80s. I love white kits anyway as it reminds me of 60s/70s floodlit football. The problem with Motherwell away tops is that you need the right balance of claret and amber, too much claret and you are in danger of it looking like a Hearts away shirt. I think it’s time we brought back a white away kit for season 2014-15.
  23. Never in doubt, however the calculator wasn’t required.
