  1. I will be amazed if any of the two teams score more than one, this will be yet another very tight SPFL match.
  2. A great venue for all classic rock fans.
  3. I wouldn’t have thought that Inverness would have a much larger budget than us. I would guess that our budgets would be pretty similar. However, I think we have the advantage of playing in the central belt, as I reckon the highland location may put some players off moving to Caley.
  4. On that front you would have to concede that McCall is slightly superior. However, I am not sure how both teams transfer/wage budgets compare, as you would need to take that into consideration.
  5. Definitely should be added to the list of celeb Motherwell fans. I am sure that he still goes to a few games when he gets the opportunity, and his classic rock voice would be a welcome addition to the singing section!
  6. In the short time that they have been around they have done not too badly. In season 1905-6, nineteen years after we were formed we finished joint 9th with Morton. The year before, we finished bottom of the pile with 14 points.
  7. Here's hoping it stays that way. The real test will be at the weekend, and whether they can halt a young Hearts team that are fighting to claw back the deducted points. Hearts will take a large support up to Inverness, and may even outnumber the usually poor local crowd.
  8. As far as I heard Terry tries to sign like for like. If he loses a big central defender or a forward with pace he will attempt to replace them with a similar type of player. If successful, this will mean that he can play with the same formation and tactics each season. I know fuck all about football tactics or formations, however this seemed to be the general consensus among the radio pundits. So far it has kept them in the top flight, and possibly a top six finish in the SPFL.
  9. Motherwell v Airdrieonians Scottish Cup Semi Final 1975.
  10. Celtic Reserves v Motherwell Reserves mid 60s Celtic v Motherwell late 60s Celtic v Motherwell mid 70s
  11. I seem to remember that they charged a fiver to park your car.
  12. Seems to be the scourge of all Poundland wingers.
  13. Agreed, cup draws and competitions were far more exciting when this was the norm. Seeding teams has ruined all cup tournaments.
  14. Not surprising that I never noticed Andy, as sadly I don't really take an interest in the U20's. On the shorts question, this seasons kit is so busy, that I reckon the amber tones down the overworked shirt.
  15. There would have been only one outcome from that one.
  16. Boyd is Killies equivalent to Faddy, if we can keep him quiet I fancy us to shade it 1-0. If we play pish and fail to stop him, it will be 2-0 Killie.
  17. Agreed, there was a time not that long ago when Fir Park sounded more like a morgue than a football stadium. These guys have been brilliant, and add some much needed atmosphere to even the poorest of games. Edit: my Thistle mates daughter wasn’t too impressed at the naked torso show in the singing section, maybe one or two need to pay more visits to the gym rather than the pub, before opting to get naked.
  18. While we defended reasonably well yesterday, if Thistle had a more potent strike force we would have been in trouble. The real test of any improvement is when we come up against the likes of Celtic, Inverness or any side with an proven striker. At times in the second half we looked nervous against what on the day was a very ordinary Thistle strike force.
  19. The journey home was fine! I wished them well for the rest of the season, except of course when they play us. Even this early on I was surprised how nervous they are when Hearts eat into that -15 points deduction.
  20. I went for Hutchinson as my MotM. The one worry for me is the early form of McFadden, as I thought he was dreadful. This was the first time that my Thistle mate had watched Faddy in the flesh since his last Scotland game. He was shocked at what he saw, and commented that Faddy seemed to be a shadow of the player that he had watched last play for the national side. Hopefully this early form is just a blip, and he will eventually prove why we gave him a contract.
  21. I thought both teams were very ordinary to be honest, for our first half effort I think we just about merited the victory. In my opinion Faddy had one of his poorest performances in a Motherwell shirt.
  22. I will be driving my Thistle supporting mate and his daughter to the game, it will be hell driving back to Glasgow if Partick win. Please Motherwell, don’t let it happen!
