The initial plan was for the team to wear this one off retro top in the game/date nearest to our anniversary. In order to do this you need approval from the powers that be (SFA, SPL, Commsworld). There may be other boring technical reasons why this plan never came to pass.
No doubt we will know shortly what is happening with our kit next season, until then we just need to be glad we have a club shop that works hard to give us a good variety of merchandise.
You would need to ask Alan, but I think it all depends if the current sponsor decides to stay for another year. Kits take a while to produce, so I think we might just be keeping this years home design with a different sponsor.
As requested a clearer image of the shirt and the 125 YEARS monogram. It’s basically a redraw of our original (Now long lost!) MFC script font that was used on our late 60’s/70’s kits. With the addition of a subtle, slightly darker amber 125 YEARS underneath the MFC. I’m not sure if the Puma logo will be on this top, but if it is it will also be in a slightly darker shade of amber.
I didn’t choose the shirt design, (although it is my favourite Well top design!) but I was responsible for creating the MFC 125 YEARS monogram that will appear on the shirt. If Alan Provan / The Well Shop agree, I can post a larger version on here for you all to see. (I’m not sure who did the drawing on the leaflet but it isn’t very clear)
Considering we have sold over 10,000 in 2 days, it looks like there will be around 3,000-4,000 leftover for the non season ticket holders. Do we know how many have put their names forward for the lucky dip?
Just back from collecting my tickets, and apart from the surprise form filling bit everything went smoothly. The girl in the office says that we have sold around 10,000 already.
If they apply for a license I don’t see why not. I’m not sure how much this costs but if they can get the staff to work on the day, then they should go for it.
Surely if any street trader is selling flags or scarves with the club badge they can be charged and the stock confiscated. Or is it not as simple as that?
Complete fantasy I know, but surely we have missed an opportunity in temping Coca-Cola to sponsor next seasons top? Both are celebrating 125 Years, and we do sell the fizzy stuff at our food kiosks.
Different times playing a "different team" in the final. I don't live in Motherwell but I would imagine there are quite a few Celtic fans who live in or around the town. I would also imagine local businesses won't take the risk of annoying the petty few.
