  1. As in improved wages at the Well and Clarky goin nowhere? Or better move financially for all concerned?

would like to speak to the new gaffer first, not fussed about jumping into the first offer that comes along but is wary that it isn't always down to the player when offers are made to the club!

  2. He flew down here on Thursday and everything was sorted except the medical which will get done on Monday or Tuesday (he has a wedding to attend this weekend apparently so can't get it done before then). He's taking the weekend to think it through.

It's a 4 year contract and the fee is 600k up front with another 200k based upon goals, appearances and promotion.

Max 800k which is a good deal for your club given he's out of contract at the end of this coming season.

it's his sisters wedding this weekend hence him coming home! Has a meeting at the arc on Monday so wouldn't count your chickens he will be signing next week

  3. I don't know enough about the guy to get too excited about his appointment, anyone care to enlighten me as to why he is a good appointment in their eyes? Would have been nice to have got a name so to speak, not to say that they are always successful

    though!

  4. I'm glad he's taking my advice from another thread :P Bristol is not the club for a guy like Clarky - they are on the start of a decline.

Although, on the plus side, it's a great part of the country to live in. I was a few miles further north of there for six and a ahlf years, and the pubs are the best in the country.

I agree weeyin, think Cardiff would b a fantastic move for him but don't see them paying 800k for him

  5. clarkson to bristol city. 500k. apparently to be confirmed tomorrow. we shall seeeee

I know David personally and if he is away to Bristol city it's news to me! I wouldn't panic just yet!

  6. I see from today's Sunday Herald that Luc Nijholt has said that he knows he is a candidate and will come for an interview if asked. For me this means one of three things; 1. The quote is a few days out of date as we appear to have started the interview process 2. Nijholt will not be getting an interview or 3. We are not as far along the interview/selection process as we might have hoped. My gut instinct is telling me number 2, Nijholt will not be in the frame. Which is a bit sad really because I think he was definitely one of the candidate who would have brought something new and fresh to the table.

Lobey Dosser stated on the 'Latest Rumour' thread (which thread are we supposed to be using??) that he felt that he understood that Sanchez was top of the list by some distance. I've certainly got the impression from the forum that since Sanchez's name came up, a lot of people seem convinced that he's the best candidate for the job. I've not seen any evidence that John Boyle thinks that (he is playing his cards very close to his chest, so I don't know how anyone could definitively say who is leading the race). Personally I'm not sure he's the best man for the job, but he's certainly a good candidate.

Given that Nijholt appears out of the running to me, my prefered candidate by some distance would be Gary McAllister. Not because of his previous ties to the club. In our financial situation we're going to be relying on loan deals from bigger clubs and bosmans from the english lower leagues. For me, McAllister has the best group of contacts for the former and the best first hand knowledge for the latter. We don;t really have time for a new manager to go and have a look at players he might be interested in. I also think in our predominantly Scottish squad, he would immediately command respect. Sanchez would not horrify me. Staunton would make me apprehensive. McAllister would excite me...

Whilst i take your points on board melvin, I really dont think we can count anyone in or out of the job, and can treat sanchez being a shoe in as hear say.

There is also absolutely nothing to suggest that nijholt is out of the running, I think at times like this, we are all guilty of making assumptions, then we all jump on the bandwagon and run away with ideas of gary mac turning it down, sanchez being the favourite, nijholt out the running.

The club have been as tight as a ducks arse on this, and with no official word on even a shortlist everything is mere speculation, as boring as it is I dont think anyone on here can say anything for sure until mr boyle and co make a comment hopefully sooner that later!.

one positive thing is craggs seems to think we will have someone appointed this week, with him taking training id think he would have a bit more info as to the likelyhood of when someone and who that person maybe appointed!

  7. led to believe that interviews took place yesterday, with staff being told that if names of candidates were leaked their jobs were basically on the line!. that came from someone working at fir park.

to be fair if the names that were interviewed are those mentioned in the rancid report id be pretty happy!, not sure about staunton to be honest but the calibre of manager has certainly jumped from those that were linked a few years ago!.

id be happy with a gary mac and staunton partnership, or a nijholt and and an assistant set-up.

  8. remember mcghees comments when he joined us saying he didn't like putting people out a job by bringing in his own backroom staff! Boyle loves leitch he was instrumental in bringing him back to assist malpas much to malpas dismay! I would put my mortgage on leitch being our new manager! Not my first choice but I'd get behind him all the same, incidently leitch and Clarkson are close so the only saving grace from that would

Be us having a better chance of keeping hold of Clarkson!

  9. Are you serious!

Corrigan got elbowed out at Kilmarnock, had a disastrous loan period at Dundee and is now by no means an automatic choice at ROSS COUNTY.

Meanwhile Kinniburgh couldn't get a game at Partick Thistle and will be released this summer.

To be fair mate he has been injured a hell of a lot since arriving at thistle! and had more good than bad at well from what I remember a lot like McLean!

  10. i really like marc as a player and think he is a useful player to have in the squad, think he is far too easily made a scapegoat though when looking for someone to highlight as a weak link or having a bad game. I would however only play him or keef, think the roles they play and what they bring to the team are too similar.

  11. nice result tonight. won £250 smackers on the asian handicap betting!!! even thought bet365 had trimmed the odds since the game was supposed to be played.

how does that asian handicap betting work mate? could do with a wee win like that right now!
