  1. Is it not Gerry Britton when he was at Thistle who we're thinking of? Or was he just hated everywhere?

Speaking of Thistle, I'll chuck in their fans. What a smug, holier than thou, morale high ground grabbing shower of shite they were/are.

I think Gerry Britton is a given.

It was Isaac English, cheers Frazzle.

Not sure why I hated them. Must have been an angry kid.

  2. Even before he came anywhere near us, and destroyed us, I always thought he was a wank.

Always hated Ivo Den Bieman for some reason. I think he's the greasy one on the left. (Was it not him that smashed McMillan's cheekbone with a shocking tackle in front of the East Stand one game, and was then taken out with a waist high tackle by Simo?)

    Hamish French

There is one more from Partick I used to despise, thought it might have been Hamish French again, but it's not. Was from around the early/mid 90's.

  3. Think he was going out with my mates big sister for a while, he still playing at East Stirling?

Don't think so man. I think he left them at some point during last season and moved to Glenafton in the juniors.

Haven't seen him for a while now so not sure if that's still the case.

  4. Forgot as well tht Joe Savage was 2 years above me. Played for Hamilton, Stenny, East Fife and East Stirling twice. Had a few trials at Hibs and Leicester too. He was at East Stirling a couple of season back when they played Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup and The Sun had him do one of their diaries for the week in the build up to the game.

When Joe was at Hamilton they tried to sign our entire Jerviston team. They were 2nd Division at h time and our bosses knocked them back. About 3 months later was when their players went on strike and they were relegated to the 3rd Division, and released just about all their players.

  5. John Kennedy was 2 years above me in school.

Was a guy in his year Steven Pinkowski who was a keeper on the books at Celtic before moving onto Partick. Don't know where he is now. His little brother David was also signed to Celtic and featured quite regularly in the Celtic View at the time. He was released too though and last I heard was with Wishaw.

Also played in a tournament don't near Morecombe(I think). In our section was a team from Edinburgh who we were told had the best young keeper in Scotland at the time, and I tried to lob from 40 yards. Anyway, IIRC,it turned out it was Craig Gordon.

  6. it comes across as more of an ego trip, making the team sit down and watch his greatest moment on dvd.

add that to jimgannnon.co.uk, the fact that's he's in love with a 4-5-1 that doesn't suit the players we have, him constantly going on about winning fair play prizes and passing football without ever acknowledging that that's what we've been doing for the past couple of years and his determination to play the youngest team possible (most likely to enhance his reputation as someone who develops young players) and i think we could be dealing with someone who is as much of an egomaniac if not more so than mcghee.

i've been at 8 of the 9 games so far and it's been on the whole very positive the guy isn't the messiah and there are still some question marks around him.

  7. For everyone who is condeming our fans for the paedo song.

Why did no-one kick up and get stuck into our fans when it was sung in Llanelli, and that has been refered to on this site several times. Or when it was sung to the Celtic fans.

Is ot now just a case of taking the media's side and jumping on the band wagon?

Is it OK as long as we don't get caught?

  8. does anyone know when the transfer window in scotland closes as ive heard midnight tonight and ive heard 5pm tomorrow the same as the premiership can anyone shed some light on it

It's been extended to 5pm tomorrow, same as in England, to allow for cross-border transfers as their FA offices will be closed, or at least closed early, due to their bank holiday today.

  9. First I've seen about this having just come in from work.

Glad to finaly have it confirmed.

As for everyone doubting how good he is or his previous record down south - Kevin Lyle's just been called up to the Scotland squad for God sake.

  10. Yesterday's newsletter - are they still going? I used to get them last season but haven't had one for months.

Aye mate. I stopped getting them for a few weeks during pre-season, but I doubt there was too much to report at the time. Started getting them in again for the last 2 or 3 weeks now.

  11. There is definitely some sort of suicide awareness campaign being publicised before the Rangers game, with the players wearing promotional t-shirts. I would imagine that the earlier poster who said the minutes silence/applause for the 3 players will tie in with this.

Although it could have been pointed out to the fans before now.

  12. The performance against Steaua has given me reason to be excited and optimistic for the season ahead. Although I do understand that we can't expect such a young team to perform to those levels every week.

I'm starting to think we might sneak it tomorrow, due to our superior fitness from the Euro workout's and confidence from the Steaua game.

However, I'll stick to my original guess on the predictor.

    1-1

    Alan Main MOM.

  13. In recent year all our managers have been hopless and left no GOOD lasting impression on the club.

Butcher was fairly recent and I'd say he definitely left a good lasting impression on the club, and was certainly not hopeless.

  14. Where did you find that he could also play in defence. When he was being linked with Hamilton, I vaguely remember thinking he was a defender. When he was unveiled as a midfielder today, I kind of assumed that I had been mistaken...

Your definitely not mistaken. When he was up at Accies last season it was definitely mentioned that he was a defender.
