  1. First pen this season?

Brilliant DC!! Never thought he would take them!!

Only our second penalty this season I think.

Ports missed one at the very start of the season at home. I think either the Aberdeen or Dundee United game.

  2. I reckon i'd stop going to Fir Park if Imrie signed, wee sack that he is.

Damn right. If we were to sign guys like Dougie Imrie or Ross Tokely, who have been suggested, it would be time for us to pack up and call it a day.

  3. Would the other aspect not just be Chris waiving his cut of the fee and Motherwell pocketing all teh cash?

Thats how it looked to me, although hopefully there is a sell on clause. That could bag us a small fortune later on.

Probably didn't get one put in though. ^_^

All the best Chris. One of our best signings in a long time, hope to see you playing in the Premiership soon. He's been an absolute gent here and so many good memories. The 2 goals in the cup at Tynecastle, the Euro clincher against Aberdeen and the hat trick against Inverness.

Edit: There's no way we'll get Giles Barnes, he's off to Fulham to replace Jimmy Bullard.

  4. Wiki and it's dam lies!!! :P

Or maybe he just wore that Motherwell top for a bet, or was a fan caused he stayed local?!

Did Rangers no pinch Barry Ferguson from under our noses when he was 14 or 15? That's another rumour I have heard through the years.

No, he was wearing the top in a team photo, taken just before or after a game if I remember it right. Like I said I doubt he was ever signed and perhaps the game he played in was just a one off or whatever, but the photo is out there somewhere and was definitely on these boards before the change over in December.

  5. Will be gutted to see him go.

I'd much rather hold on to him til the summer and lose him for nothing, but that's probably just me being greedy. He's been superb for us, brought us some great memories and scored THE goal against Abedeento take us over the finish line fo Europe.

Easily our best stike since Coyne, all the best big man.

I just hope, if it is Sutton stepping in, that we don't turn into the long ball team we were earlier in the season when he was in the team.

  6. Anyone not maybe think that as well as Craigan being out for long spells, that the fact Chris McCart isn't here this season might be playing a part. I know McCart was invlved in the youth development side, but I don't think there is any doubting that he was seen as part of a 3 man team.

Considering he was the only defender on the coaching staff, perhaps not having him there for advice has affected Mark.

  7. Im not anti- Marc Fitzpatrick i think he's got a lot to offer but that header was 4 yards out and no one near him. The Porter header he got clobbered by one of their thug defenders and where i was sitting in the Phil O'Donnel was the reason he missed it. Will have to wait to see the highlights on Setanta mind you to be sure.

There is no way he was only 4 yards out. He was at least at the penalty spot. And as Al B pointed out the ball had spun up slightly too high for him to do much else with. I'm not sure if he would have been better trying to control it before putting it in, not sure if he had enough time for that.

  8. An excellent take on the game there from EL GREW. Hughes is not giving us 100% and should be dropped. Both Quinn and Fitzpatrick couldn't find there own arses with both hands and the crosses into the box 2nd half from wide areas was pish O'Brian was another . He's a really annoying player to watch as he gets himself into decent positions because of his pace and frequently fecks it up.Why was Sutton not brought on instead of Murphy? Having said all that we should've won this at least 2-1 and Fitzy's pish header in the 1st half with no keeper in was as bad a miss as i've EVER seen. :D .Bring on the Hibees next sat. :wallbash: .

It was a bad one, but not as bad as your trying to make out. It's not like it was a totally open goal, there was a defender on the line who, from some reason, he tried to lob with the header rather than put it to the side.

Was it worse than Port's? It seemed to me his was much closer in, paractically on the line.

  9. Don't think I'v ever seen a dirtier team than that Falkirk mob today. They were worse than Jeffries teams.

They set out to kick us off the park and after the ref bottled sending off McBride they knew they had free reign to do what they liked to us. I hope some one jumps in one McBride like that next week and does some damage. McCann and Barr also deserve a doing from someone.

Good display from us today especially Clarky, Ports, O'Brien, Klimpl and Hammell. The ref cost us the game.

    Fuck Falkirk...Wankers.

I hope they get relegated after that performance.

  10. But do they really play good football? Many folk, especially in the media say this. Any time I've seen them in recent times though they haven't exactly turned on the silky soccer. All too often they've relied on the long ball to man mountain Michael Higdon.

Against us in their recent 1-0 victory at Falkirk they were pretty dull and uninspiring.

Still maybe I've undersold them and they'll turn on the style on Saturday.

I'd agree with that. I don't see where they get all the praise from. Maybe it's because John Hughes is becoming the new media darling in the league taking over from John Lambie, purely because he always speaks his mind and i always good for a story?

Anyway, anytime I've seen Falkirk at Fir Park they have been one of the worst teams I'v seen. Constant high balls upto the strikers and complete kick and rush football.

  11. Even without reserve games we would have the option of sending them out on loan to get some games.

I would be surprised if Fraser signing and Buzz re-signing, if he does, would mean the end for both the younger keepers. They are only 19/20 with minimal experience,I think it woul have been far too big a risk to ask either of them to replace Smith. A poor start to the season, 1 poor game or a doing of the OF would shatter their confidence and would do more damage than good for their development.

  12. I think it's absolute b0ll0x and unacceptable that after having a week of reasonably mild weather, it had been forcast for some time that the temperatures would start to drop from the weekend and stay that way til after Wednesday. If we all knew that was forecast then why have the covers not been on and why is every picture that we see on either the Locos or our own official website showing a covered pitch!!! ;)

Between now and tomorrow night it is predicted to stay the same or get colder so why isn't an earlier inspection being done at say 4PM today and not a lot is going to change between then and tomorrow. Especially on an uncovered pitch that has no one working on it. Would love to see a picture of the pitch today if anyone is up there with a mobile phone with a camera.

Thats a bit harsh IMO. The covers, and most of the groundstaff, were borrowed from Aberdeen. As Aberden have a home game of their own to put on this week I'd imagine they would be keeping hold of all that this week to ensure they have their own house in order before making sure Inverurie are OK.

  13. Must say i agree with most of the talk on here about Motherwell legends and would have Martin Corrigan in my list for sure. However, contrary to quite a few of the posters I would also include Davie Cooper.

Cooper had been rotting away on the bench and in the reserves for Rangers and many people in the game and in the media had written him off, his signing for Motherwell was just another stop in his declining years. Coopers arrival at Motherwell not only energised the whole club but revitalised his career, three years after his last cap Scotland called him up again for two more in 1990. He was, after a spell in the doldrums, enjoying his football once more. He had gone on record as saying that his Motherwell career was amongst his happiest times as a footballer. Cooper's influence had a massive bearing on the Cup run, his influence in the team gave even the most ordinary of players a massive boost to their confidence. Just because he happened to be a Rangers fan should not detract from his influence at Motherwell. No, for me, Davie Cooper is, and always will be, a Motherwell legend.

Definitely agree with that. Im only 23 so I was pretty young when I saw Cooper play, but I always remember my Uncle and my Dad telling me at the games how special he was and how much of a good thing he was for Motherwell and to have a player like that wear our shirt. Corrigan would definitely be in there.

And maybe this is a generational one but I'd probably put Tommy Coyne in there. He is probably the best striker I have seen in a Motherwell shirt and his partnership with Dougie worked from the off an would be a hard one to top.

  14. Yep, Porter for me too. We are far better team when he is playing. And probably the best striker we have had since Coyne?

    Hughes after that please.

We are an even better team with Clarkson alongside Porter, but Porter will get by far the more votes as it's his contract thats up at the end of the season, whereas Clarky's was renewed last season.
