  1. Really cannot understand the criticism of Lawson. I think he's a good player, limited appearances so far but has not let us down yet - he's a Jennings type player, not a lasley or law....and even jennings struggled to get a start in his first 6 months with us. He's one of the few (only even?) who looked like he gave a shite that we were losing yesterday. Poor performance from the whole team though, few with pass marks and a few brutal individual performances. We can point the finger at who we like but in the end of the day we were pish and were never winning that game approaching it the way we did. Hope and expect to see an improvement on Wednesday.
  2. I don't think anyone is saying 'Vigurs does nothing'. He is clearly a talented footballer. Great touch, crosser of the ball and got a trick or two BUT he dithers on the ball and often wants too much time and he doesn't offer much defensively....two aspects of his game which make him a frustrating player at times. If he can work on the latter he could be a real quality player. Hope we see more of Moore! Best first touch ever?
  3. Not so much the defeat but the manner of the defeat and ease of celtics goals which was disappointing. Lasley and McManus our top players though we never looked like doing anything until anier came on in 70 mins or so. Carswell looked a bit out his depth first half, better second half. Hollis at fault for first goal, vigurs (who was stinking today) for the second. Brines shat it for the foul on Kerr as he knew if he gave it he would have to show a second yellow.
  4. Agree that ainsworth played a big part in todays result but any idea was faddy was taken off? Was he injured? Thought he was playing OK up until that point.
  5. Big John Sutton, Motherwells number 9!!! Special mention to Keith also for a great performance, attitude and leadership...yet again this season.
  6. Ah right, did not know that. Learn something new every day! Just as well I didn't have that on then as id have almost certainly binned my coupon by now.
  7. Wouldn't matter as Killie scored first!! Better now? Enjoyed the game today. Thought carswell was immense, starting to look like a real player for us. Ramsden also played well until his red. Feel like we're starting to click in the final third too, although we were under massive pressure last 20 mins and possibly Killie can feel harshly done by not to get anything.
  8. I'll be surprised if ainsworth starts, in the end of the day he only joined yesterday. Sure we'll get a glimpse of him though. Reckon it'll be a similar line up to last week. Like the idea of faddy in the hole though if ainsworh does come on. Good feeling about this (which is probably a bad thing) 3-1 well.
  9. Don't think hughes is the player we need. We are desperately missing the pace and guile of Humphrey law and ojamma. If we have 1 signing left in us I'd much rather see us going for a player to replace one of these three, even if it is a bit of a gamble signing (like ojamma was). Failing that let's see what we have amongst our youths - we know zfa can play when he wants to, just needs that confidence to do it. Moore did a great job in div1 last season and what I've seen of Erwin he looks a really good link up player. Have heard good thngs about a few others too. I'd like to see these guys get a proper chance unlike the 5 minute run outs McHugh's been getting the last 5 years.
  10. Agree with the first bit...horrendous from hammell but you've also got to look at McManus once he's in 'that position'. Awful decision to make. Total amateur style lunge - even struggling to picture one of the younger lads like Cummins doing that tbh.
  11. Not that I disagree with your sentiment but wikipedia isnt the most reliable and judging by the team photo on the website Randolph has a good 2-3 inches on hollis. I'm yet to be convinced by Hollis but in the forest game and Thursday he did nothing wrong IMO. Good luck to him, he's waited and worked hard for his chance.
  12. I enjoyed although I was just happy to be back after missing the other friendlies! Thought Lawson was our best player if not the best player on the park. Vigurs I like, got great feet and always a wee trick or reverse pass up his sleeve but not convinced he has the pace to play on the left. Good second half from McHugh and took his goal well. Never seen Erwin play before but was impressed with him too, he came on and didn't look fazed at all, got himself involved and provided some good link up play. All in all a draw a fair result. Forest dominated the first half and we dominated the second.
  13. My thoughts exactly. Otherwise we'll be looking at 150k in January again like Reynolds and murphy.
  14. Says on sky sports news app that Norwich have rejected a bid from Chelsea for Ruddy. Hes certainly doing well for himself - but i always rated randolph more (when at us). Stil, would be amazing to see a former player turn out for the likes of Chelsea!
  15. Thanks for that noah dosser, a good summary for those (myself included) who don't see much of the u20s. If we keep McFadden and kerr, I can't see us bringing in more than another 2. I'm happy for Sutton to be our main striker with McHugh, Erwin and Moore vying for ojammas spot. Erwin and Moore sound fairly promising and for me, McHugh has shown he can hold his own and possibly develop into a decent player. Not saying he's going to be our next million pound asset but certainly a solid enough spl player which is why I reckon he got his extension. A keeper and pacy winger should be the priority.
  16. In fact on that note why does he insist on a centre mid role? He could make such a better career for himself at right back.
  17. IMO it would be good to see hateley sign on again but only as a RB. If he insists on a centre mid role then rangers is about his level. However we can't be sure how much is truth and how much is hearsay. Hopefully get the three sorted soon - seems to be taking forever!!
  18. Granted, and I'm sure there's decent players amongst them. But surely the way to unearth a gem or two from the lower leagues is to build them into an SPL team....caley have signed the best part of a full team who all played conference football last few seasons!
  19. This. I'd be more concerned if we were taking the caley approach of signing every semi promising player from the conference. Fair play if it pays off but in the end of the day they've made 8 signings in about a week that are all gambles. Think the priorities for us are a speedy winger, keeper and a target man (assuming higdon leaves)
  20. Get what you're saying mate but how long do you give it? I personally would not feel confident going into next season with Hollis as no1. On another note, i was very disappointed in the decision to take carswell off. Firstly, I thought he played well and secondly law was having a poor game and didn't really look interested. He wasn't the only one though to be fair, pretty typical end of season performance....but can't complain after such a fantastic season.
  21. Not a bad player with one hell of a left peg....just not sure where he fits in to our style of play? Got Hammell and zfa for left back. Suppose if faddy, Humphrey and Higginbotham leave then there's a few wide midfield positions going but would he fit the bill in that role? On the law to sevco thing...I genuinely feel that if he was going to them we would know by now. If there's championship teams in for him (that he's yet to speak to in person) then thats surely what he's holding out for. If his heart was set on sevco, he would have signed already. I really hope I'm right anyway.
  22. Was thinking the same thing. Is there captain Jordan McMillan not pretty good. Also seen Joe Cardle on the list, always seemed to cause a bit of trouble - scored a double against us last season did he not?
  23. Just watched Higginbothams goal again.....its made even better by the fact it flies right over Mcpakes bellend of a head!!!
  24. Just WOW. So much to be pleased about last night dont know where to start. Faddy showed he is still an incredible talent and is a cut above the SPL, he pissed all over hibs, they simply couldnt handle him. And his energy seemed to inspire other players. Higgy sticking it right up mcpake - not just his taunt after the goal but he had him absolutely rattled, properly put the fear into him. Higginbothams goal is absolute class - if van persie scores that goal we hear about it for seasons to come! I think Carswell is improving with every game. What I like about him is he is a real ball winner, very strong in the tackle but he knows when to stay on his feet and when to commit. I have always thought that he needs more comporsure on the ball but watchin him set up Higginbotham it looks like that might come. Hateley too did well in the middle of the park. Cummins is another who is looking more and more mature with each game and Hutchy is beginning to prove that he can lead the line. Just brilliant - up there with the best second half performance I have seen. However, how mcpake and claros escaped bookings last night is a mystery.
  25. I for one am pissed off that Celtic are still pulling the strings even without their pals around to team up with. The gap hasn't widened as such, but the distribution of money is still heavily in their favour. If the spl are going to change cash distribution then do it properly ffs. Why why why basically keep it as it has been - in favour of the big team - a structure that is slowly but surely killing the game off.
