  1. Can't see past Fraser Kerr myself based on his performance at centre half. Only player of ours near it. Looks a good replacement for hutch should he leave in January. Also, Moore did more in his 20 odd mins than anier did in his 70. Hope he gets a run of games to see what he can do. Hopefully seeing a bunch of teenagers piss all over us encourages McCall to give some of our young lads a shot at it.
  2. Where to begin? We were utter shit, utd were excellent at times and we were beaten by a far superior team. It has not worked for us this season at all really, our points tally remains respectable but performances have not. Must now be time for McCall to shake things up...take a gamble by either trying a different set up or giving the young players the chance to stake a claim in our current set up. Persisting as we are isn't working. The one thing Dundee utd should be embarrassed and ashamed of though is how often and how much time they're players spent on the ground feigning injury. Call me old fashioned but i didn't think Scottish or indeed British teams behaved like that.
  3. If Ramsden plays I suspect it'll be at right back to keep some sort of consistency in defence. Will be really surprised if he does play though. Assuming both Ramsden and Hammell don't play I'll go: Neilsen/Hollis Kerr Cummins Mick ZFA Ainsworth Lasley Carswell Faddy Sutton Anier Predict a similar game to Tannadice so i'll say 2-2
  4. That is a ridiculous stat to quote given his lack of appearances. And wrong since he was on the park for both goals against hearts.
  5. In general, I agree. But last night wasnt exactly normal circumstances...80 mins against 10 men to go into a semi final draw with st j, ICT and hearts. It was our best chance to win a cup for a while which is what's so sickening that we didn't capitalise (thats not to say that playing any of those teams is easy). I expect Aberdeen will go on to win it now.
  6. Hollis Same back four McFadden Lasley Lawson vigurs Sutton Moore Never going to be the lineup but....flat 442, think we need to turn our attentions to our more experienced players in midfield. while I've been a critic of vigurs I do feel there's a player there who could come good. Zfa form has dipped massively and Anier was murder last night - seems to make the same mistakes too often, we need a spark too which is why I have opted for the youth of Moore.
  7. Really? Fair enough then. From where I was sitting I thought it had taken a deflection and incredible reflexes from langfield. The passage of play felt like it was going to be a goal. Probably not as good a save after all.
  8. For 15-20 mins yes but for 80?? We should have tired them out and worn them down but instead we lumped crosses in from deep. Bread and butter for the likes of Anderson, Reynolds and considine. The one time zfa hit the touchline carswell had an effort which somehow (and fuck knows how) langfield saved, need to see that again. Had we scored first last night I am sure we would have won. The game was crying out for a playmaker like faddy, i dont care if he has been poor so far this season, we needed some sort of creative spark and he could have been it. We are missing law so much.
  9. Ramsden the only one of our players really deserving of it. Up and down the right side all night, looking fit and think I prefer him there to hateley.
  10. Absolutely gutted with that last night. I know it can be difficult to play against 10 men but generally you are talking for 15-20 mins, not 80 mins - we should have been able to crack them in that time. Ive never felt so deflated as a motherwell fan. If I didnt have a season ticket or we were away this sunday I dont think I'd bother....
  11. Have to disagree with that bit. It was the presence of jennings that allowed the other 3 to get forward. And for me it was the loss of jennings resulted in us losing more goals. For me, Jennings was very much a sitting player. Anyway, not what my original post was aimed at. I was saying that while I understand (but not always agree) with the criticism of others I just dont get the dislike of lawson. Hes played well when called upon but the rise of carswell has limited his appearances...a good thing, no?
  12. Null vote - Stevie may best player on the park.
  13. Really cannot understand the criticism of Lawson. I think he's a good player, limited appearances so far but has not let us down yet - he's a Jennings type player, not a lasley or law....and even jennings struggled to get a start in his first 6 months with us. He's one of the few (only even?) who looked like he gave a shite that we were losing yesterday. Poor performance from the whole team though, few with pass marks and a few brutal individual performances. We can point the finger at who we like but in the end of the day we were pish and were never winning that game approaching it the way we did. Hope and expect to see an improvement on Wednesday.
  14. I don't think anyone is saying 'Vigurs does nothing'. He is clearly a talented footballer. Great touch, crosser of the ball and got a trick or two BUT he dithers on the ball and often wants too much time and he doesn't offer much defensively....two aspects of his game which make him a frustrating player at times. If he can work on the latter he could be a real quality player. Hope we see more of Moore! Best first touch ever?
  15. Not so much the defeat but the manner of the defeat and ease of celtics goals which was disappointing. Lasley and McManus our top players though we never looked like doing anything until anier came on in 70 mins or so. Carswell looked a bit out his depth first half, better second half. Hollis at fault for first goal, vigurs (who was stinking today) for the second. Brines shat it for the foul on Kerr as he knew if he gave it he would have to show a second yellow.
  16. Agree that ainsworth played a big part in todays result but any idea was faddy was taken off? Was he injured? Thought he was playing OK up until that point.
  17. Big John Sutton, Motherwells number 9!!! Special mention to Keith also for a great performance, attitude and leadership...yet again this season.
  18. Ah right, did not know that. Learn something new every day! Just as well I didn't have that on then as id have almost certainly binned my coupon by now.
  19. Wouldn't matter as Killie scored first!! Better now? Enjoyed the game today. Thought carswell was immense, starting to look like a real player for us. Ramsden also played well until his red. Feel like we're starting to click in the final third too, although we were under massive pressure last 20 mins and possibly Killie can feel harshly done by not to get anything.
  20. I'll be surprised if ainsworth starts, in the end of the day he only joined yesterday. Sure we'll get a glimpse of him though. Reckon it'll be a similar line up to last week. Like the idea of faddy in the hole though if ainsworh does come on. Good feeling about this (which is probably a bad thing) 3-1 well.
  21. Don't think hughes is the player we need. We are desperately missing the pace and guile of Humphrey law and ojamma. If we have 1 signing left in us I'd much rather see us going for a player to replace one of these three, even if it is a bit of a gamble signing (like ojamma was). Failing that let's see what we have amongst our youths - we know zfa can play when he wants to, just needs that confidence to do it. Moore did a great job in div1 last season and what I've seen of Erwin he looks a really good link up player. Have heard good thngs about a few others too. I'd like to see these guys get a proper chance unlike the 5 minute run outs McHugh's been getting the last 5 years.
  22. Agree with the first bit...horrendous from hammell but you've also got to look at McManus once he's in 'that position'. Awful decision to make. Total amateur style lunge - even struggling to picture one of the younger lads like Cummins doing that tbh.
  23. Not that I disagree with your sentiment but wikipedia isnt the most reliable and judging by the team photo on the website Randolph has a good 2-3 inches on hollis. I'm yet to be convinced by Hollis but in the forest game and Thursday he did nothing wrong IMO. Good luck to him, he's waited and worked hard for his chance.
  24. I enjoyed although I was just happy to be back after missing the other friendlies! Thought Lawson was our best player if not the best player on the park. Vigurs I like, got great feet and always a wee trick or reverse pass up his sleeve but not convinced he has the pace to play on the left. Good second half from McHugh and took his goal well. Never seen Erwin play before but was impressed with him too, he came on and didn't look fazed at all, got himself involved and provided some good link up play. All in all a draw a fair result. Forest dominated the first half and we dominated the second.
  25. My thoughts exactly. Otherwise we'll be looking at 150k in January again like Reynolds and murphy.
