Murphy. Put in the type of performance we all know he's capable of when playing with confidence.
-
Having said that I don't want to sell either hutchy or law, not for pishy offers anyway. Think given the current state of the game and contract situations, no less than 1M for the two
-
If my memory serves me well: Stevie hammell was a ready made replacement when we sold Steve McMillan...After the money spending willy nilly days of billy Davies and Eric black, Keith proved a class act...When we had to go in to admin, the likes of Pearson and faddy stepped up and shone...First game after faddy left, clarky scored a double in a 2-0 win v hibs...Soon after clarky left, murphy scored a hat trick in Europe....When we were in dire straights at the back Reynolds was drafted in and then never dropped...When Reynolds left hutchy was his ready made replacement... BELIEVE in our youth system, its there for a reason.

For the goal, I know whoever was supposed to be marking davidson lost him (hutch?) but lasley also ran off the front post leaving the hole there. I know he went to challenge Davidson but he shouldn't have. Again given the possession we had in the first half I just feel we could have done so much more with it with more of a cutting edge somewhere, don't know if we're missing humph or what but something's definitely missing. I like the look of Hetherington, always looking for the ball and looking up, trying to do something positive when he gets it. Think next week it will be a straight swap francis-Angol in for hammell and surely mchugh deserves a start. Thought vines second yellow for his tackle on hutchy was a fucking shocker by the way. Straight red IMO. His first wasn't too clever either but a yellow was fair enough.

Not according to sky sports..... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11710/7987866/Jennings-in-Sky-Blues-talks

Fully expect that to be the line up too as it is pretty much the eleven established players we have fit. Would like to see carswell or hetherington given an opportunity though and drop daley to the bench, with law out wide. Shame humphreys out for this one, I could see him giving Callum Davidson a roasting.

They certainly seem to have strengthened this summer more than anyone else. Brand new front three of hasselbaink, tade and beattie? Doesnt sound bad, plus (just checked) four others, one of which another striker!! EDIT: Just seen they actually lost a handful of strikers...
-
Six months?????? Shit!! Admitedly had no idea but I assumed it was a matter of weeks. Didn't realise it was that bad. Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery for his sake.
-
Think this means that hutchy is away or McCall sees ramsden or hateley in midfield. Otherwise don't see the logic in a 6 month loan signing if it's not going to make an impact on the starting line up. We have Saunders, page and cummins for cover in that position.

Am I the only one not keen on loaning Kerr? Nothing against the lad, thought he looked good yesterday but am I right in saying he did play for us, a bigger team comes sniffing and he's off. What's the difference between this and the slane situation, apart from that slane went to Celtic? I'd much rather focus on bringing our own young boys through than someone else's, especially given the situation.

Very good gesture - I wonder if its an initiative to get more away fans through the gate? I guess they could compare away attendances with caley to find out.
-
Err...think thats it sent, £20. Let me know you receive it ok mate. Cheers
-
What is the state of play with this? Been meaning to send over a few quid but not got round to it...

PS. Sorry if all i have really done here is summarised the thread but I havent read much of the other posts!! Just a conversation at work the other week got me thinking!

Rant start: One of the things that has pissed me off most throughout this whole saga is Doncasters handling of the tv situation. He really has no clue. Correct me if I'm wrong here but sky/ESPN have made no official statement saying that they are reducing cost of the deal. But Doncaster has openly come out and valued the TV rights at a pathetic £3M. 1. £3M is an insult to Scottish football. The product HE is supposed to be an ambassador for. 2.That sets the bar for TV companies. They now know that the SPL will accept in the region of £3M so are never going to offer anything in the region of say £15M. 3. Has there been any official word (ever?) on an SPL tv channel? Not as I recall, 50,000 subscribers at £5 per month (pennies really), or 25,000 at £10 per month (and so on) is £3M. I dont know the scale of numbers but surely they could be looking at maybe 250,000 subcribers plus advertisements minus running costs and the rest can be split equally between the clubs for a change...this would work out better for all clubs involved, except maybe celtic. Why are these things never at the front of these idiots minds at times like this. Instead of wasting most of pre-season scare-mongering, making stuff up and generally making twats of themselves to eventually get teams to vote and arrive at the outcome of 'apply the rules', why can't they start off by applying the rules and then work on alternative scenarios for the long term sustainability of the game? I.E. Models that dont revolve around 2 teams. How the likes of Doncaster and Regan can go about their business in this fashion and still be in their positions is beyond me. Rant nowhere near over but i'll finish there.

Ok, I appreciate that but a few hundred grand is hardly insubmountable is it? What about the financial cushion from the well society?
-
No idea mate, all I'm saying is that it will take more than a debt of a few hundred grand to put us in admin.
-
We have no debts, posted a small loss last year, MIGHT not be getting the derisory amount of sky tv money that we usually get and no 2 home games v rangers. The euro games and sale of a player will cover this. Even if we dont sell we'll post another small loss. Admin??? F**k me.
-
While the result was disappointing, it was just a friendly... To be honest out of the starting 11 no one really impressed. But if theres positives to be taken, I thought out of the young boys that came on, hetherington and Francis-Angol really added something to the team and looked good whenever they got on the ball. In fact i actually thought that hetherington looked like a young, energetic Jennings! And if those half hour cameos are to go by then maybe the squad isn't so thin after all.

This is a good idea Yoshi-1991, have you sent it to the club through the steelmen forever campaign?? The got an idea section: http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/the-club/steelmen-forever/ideas If I was to throw in an idea to add it would be to get one of the fringe players not on the bench, or even better a first team player thats not involved due to injury or suspension or whatever to help with the supervision. Or even just make a visit to the kids section at half time to sign autographs and say hello. Pretty sure most young lads would love that at that age and would help to encourage more along.
-
Wow! Didn't see that coming...let us know if you get a reply mate?? As for DVD's i think a good shout would be a compilation of legendary Motherwell moments fom the last 10-20 years such as these that spring to mind... Van der gaags goal Skippy sunday Fitzy v hearts CIS semi 6-6 Euro days Anytime Faddy touched the ball And so on...

Might sound a bit strange but while im in the mood......how about a million dollar homepage style thing on the official site? Fans, local businesses, sponsors, players, general stakeholders etc could pay a small fee per month for a brick which links to a website, facebook page, twitter, charity page or whatever they want really...
-
Well said. Spl clubs have done right by spl fans so time for fans to repay. Home and away. Dont forget at least another 9 clubs voted no. Scottish football was dying under the stranglehold of the old firm and now we have the chance to rebuild. Neil Doncaster can f*ck off.
-
It is a shame to see clancy go but I believe that in Saunders we have a better player and Page is beginning to prove his worth so don't think he will be too sorely missed. Plus we have Devlin who will hopefully step up this year. Seems mental that we have to cut the wage bill by 4k per week. Dont usually hope to sell anyone but think we might need to this summer.

Great stuff today. Humphrey was incredible - won the penalty, set up two directly and had a say in another too. Also great to see murphy play well again and score.
