  1. I would doubt it tbh. But regardless I'd rather have a better chance of staying in the league than worrying about who we can or can't get on loan from sheff utd.
  2. For me it was a worrying and sickening way to lose after such good work to go in front. Every point is a prisoner and the mistakes last night were unacceptable. Before last night Long had done absolutely nothing to suggest he is any better than Dan. After last night he should be dropped. 1st goal - OK it was a free header which was criminal, but a cross inside the 6 yard box is keeper territory and dealing with crosses was everyone's main criticism of Dan. Great save from the header to be fair, then the less said the better. 2nd goal, what the actual fuck was going through his head? 2 centre half's there to deal with what was nothing more than a hopeful punt. Laing is clearly watching the ball with one intention - nodding it back to the keeper. If long is coming for that (which he should never ever ever ever ever have been) then scream bloody murder to let laing know. Long has potential but he cost us last night and we can't afford that level of complacency in the position were in. Bring back Dan.
  3. Assuming the same players are injured/ suspended I'd like to see pretty much the same lineup as sat but with Thomas out wide and Erwin up front, Sutton dropping to the bench as just about everything good we do at the moment breaks down with him. Will take a point here just to stop the downward spiral.
  4. This pretty much sums it up for me. He's by no means the best, and while I'd have welcomed cerny, I'd rather see the wages spent elsewhere. IMO the centre backs have cost us much more goals this season than Dan has, and he has saved us from a few real bollockings at times (utd in the cup springs to mind).
  5. All there is to say after that is thank fuck black never got the job.
  6. Fair enough if something else takes precedence but since when was supporting motherwell about winning??
  7. If its a league game then it's not my stance, but ok that's understandable. But this was the SCOTTISH CUP vs a big team, arguably one of the favourites. Those excuses can go out the window IMO. If you don't come out to support your team in those circumstances, and with reduced ticket prices, then when will you?
  8. Totally agree. There were almost as many away fans as home fans at the game yesterday. Absolutely pathetic home support, especially for a scottish cup tie.
  9. Gutted at this result is an understatement, especially after playing so well in the 1st half. Dan was incredibly good, would have been much more without him but it begs the question wtf is the defence up to? Utd split us open 4 or 5 times in 2nd half. Have always been a fan of lawson so a real shame to see him injured after playing well. Mentions to vigurs, zaine and ojamaa too. Starting to lose patience with sutton, if he's not scoring he offers nothing. Oh and i f***ing hate that wee c**t paton - just wanted to get that off my chest.
  10. He should and will because its his job. Whether he should be in the role or not, from motherwells point of view, is a different argument.
  11. Totally disagree that the sub's lost us the game. I blame the same thing that has lost us the other 3 games this season....inbalanced formations, nosebleeds in the final third, no one taking a shot, severe lack of fitness, and the fact the team don't look like they have any direction or idea of how to break a team down. On the plus side Lawson played well, I have always rated him and hope he can hold down a place this year. O Brien impressed too, reminds me of Reynolds in both appearance and playing style.

    St Johnstone

Voted for Lawson. Could have just as easily went for o'brien, pass marks for Reid and twardzik. No one else particularly deserves a mention.
  13. Maybe the defence/ midfield should be doing more to stop the shots coming in then? Dan didn't cover himself in glory for either of the goals but in the end of the day Killie were shooting for fun from range yesterday. Theres going to be some difficult ones throughout the course of the season. The team is looking too unfit and lethargic to do that though.
  14. Like your sense of perspective here and while it is too early to hit the panic button alarm bells have to be going off somewhere. One goal and 3 points in 4 games and, I wasn't at the st mirren game but, by the sounds of things it should be zero goals and points. Next 3 games - st Johnstone at home, county away and Celtic away. Playing as we have been I can see that becoming 3 points from 21. County are guff but so are we. Add to that an absolutely miserable European campaign and its not looking good. Things have gone stale under mccall for a while now and imo it was a minor miracle that we managed to finish second last year. Hope he can turn it round but this is about as pessimistic as I've been for a while as a well fan.
  15. I am delighted with this news. Great to actually make money from the deal when the truth is he hardly kicked a ball since he signed permanently. I liked anier at times but thought he was overrated after his start with us and, quite frankly, thought he was murder in a number of games in the last half of the season. Never the less he gave us a good first half season and overall the deal appears to have worked out for both parties. Good luck to him.
  16. As much as I doubt the Burke rumour to be true I'd take him in a heartbeat. Ainsworth is a good player for us and contributes a lot but Burke is a cut above. More of an out and out winger but could create alot for us and won't go missing in games. If only there was some way we could have both, left and right.
  17. I was making a generalisation about, what seems to be, our contract policy. Just using leitch as an example - he clearly has the ability and character to make it in the SPL so we should be protecting ourselves here. Another one is vigurs, he has a year to run, has turned into a top player for us but I'll wager he won't get offered anything till the end of next season. Then you look at Dundee utd, all their promising youngsters are protected with another 2/3/4 years. Or st johnstone, as soon as Stevie may started banging in the goals at the start of the season, they sort him out with a years extension. We are supposed to be a selling club, its our business model, but we can't make decent money off anyone if they can be poached for nothing or bought on the cheap in a few months. And we should be protecting ourselves against having to rebuild every year or so too.
  18. Or....focus on tieing down our key/ promising players before the end of the season? Every other team does it. Why can't we?
  19. The question for me is why haven't we got him tied down already?? A fundamental problem with the running of our club. I'd take Williams but we probably can't justify paying his wages with neilson on board too. I actually rate cairney too but don't see where would fit in to our team. Mcpake/ Thomson - bit of a gamble with their injuries. Taiwo/ maybury - nah...
  20. Technically I wouldn't say twardzik is much better than Hollis, maybe marginally. For me, where he (and most other SPL level goalies) exceed, is that he makes a decision and commits to it. This helps the defence deal with situations, gives them confidence and so on. Both our goalies seem to change their mind 2 or 3 times when coming for a cross or when choosing whether to punt or pass the ball. If for no other reason than to get a more solid keeper in, I'll take Dan back now.
  21. No! I'd like to see the best of him too. I thought he was the best player on the park in the pre season friendly against Nottingham forest.
  22. I have a funny feeling hutchy will be the only first choice player we will lose. If that's the case I'd love to see one of Kerr/Murray/Cummins step up rather than sign another centre half. We've also got Ramsden to come back and Reid has really grown on me (and not just after Sunday!) so were pretty well in defence. If we can add a keeper (would take twardzik back) and a pacey winger to the mix then I'll be pretty content with the squad. Players who can go, feel bad for these guys but its not working: one or both of Hollis/neilsen. McHugh - fringe player for too long now, plus any young players who aren't going to make the cut.
  23. I quite like the home kit. Good to see claret shorts again, not a fan of the white shorts. Was hoping for a claret away strip mind you. http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2014/05/09/new-macron-kits-201415/
  24. Some of the worst individual performances I've seen for a while. Other than the first 5 mins after the break we didn't even look like competing or making a game of it. Still we are in a good position and if we win our 2 home games, we should have the chance to make amends at pittodrie. And i seem to be the only one that thinks this but anier has been fucking murder since he signed in jan. Far too often he tries the hard thing, dithers on the ball, can't make up his mind and as a result completely wasteful nearly every time he gets the ball in a useful situation.
