Money aside, reduced numbers at both ends will kill the atmosphere at fir park, and at most other grounds round the country. Against it as anything other than a short term solution myself.

Please tell me this is a wind up?? Got to be...

If we have exhausted all other avenues to bring in a winger, or don't have one coming through the youth ranks, I wouldn't be against hastie coming back on loan. I don't like the idea of developing a rangers player either, but its an area we need to strengthen and hastie will do that, plus its a low risk move for both parties in that he knows a lot of the players, management and backroom staff... Rangers are always going to have good players regardless, and if its not us developing him it'll be someone else anyway.

I notice that jordan white has been bumped to number 9, maybe reading too much into it but indicative that long is probably away IMO. https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/squad/first-team/

Is that in the best interest of the game though? Scotland needs less senior teams, not more. Punting the premiership up to 14 and adding Kelty and Brora to the setup just because "its fairer" isn't the answer IMO. There was a decent article going around recently featuring Gordon strachan talking about this. His opinion on the number of semi pro teams in Scotland is harsh, but can't disagree with it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52797428 (I'm sure there was a more in depth article somewhere but I couldn't find it and this is the jist.)

Don't get me wrong - I do see the point from a financial perspective. We have made money off boys that are yet to make it, even at our level, years down the line - hall and leitch a couple examples. They will not all go on to be as good as mcfadden. But as a fan, its not all about money and I'd love to see more of these lads make their mark on the first team, even if some of them don't.
-
To be fair, in recent-ish times, the only young player who didn't get enough of a chance at us but went on to prove himself at our level is lawless. Even then you're going back 10 years. Could have been others but he's the only one that comes to mind, certainly not a common occurrence. I'd rather see us finding a way of keeping the likes of mckinstry, mcalear, etc. We know we're re never going to sign an international player, but we can develop one... but more often than not our top youth are poached before they reach the first team. Kind of makes you wonder "whats the point?" And I can see why falkirk (for example) have done away with their youth academy... however I'd never support us doing that. It is still pretty successful in spite of that.

Link to record article for calum lang story. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/callum-lang-targeted-motherwell-loan-22202961 According to wiki 25 goals from 78 league 1 & 2 & cup games - is a decent stat. Sounds promising. Also about halfway down, the article nonchalantly mentions that we have signed Scott fox... News to me and not on official. Leaked or nonsense?

Always though Gogic had strange playing style, but possibly would be a good addition. I also see that mcgowan is leaving accies as well, suspect he'll be looking to move to england so doubt it's a realistic option but thought he was excellent for them and would be a bit of a coup IMO.
-
Sounds interesting if you still have the link??

News to me that its not... Anywhere we can keep up to date with the latest strategy of the society? The page on the official site doesnt give much away.

Not that I've seen and nothing on the official site. Just saw hes not in the u21 squad and putting 2 and 2 together.
-
When allan campbell went off injured on sat, was it a bad one? And is he out for a few games? I just assumed it was a sore one but nothing serious. Just noticed hes been omitted from the u21 squad when hes been a stalwart in that team.
-
Aye I think it was 2 games, county and today
-
He was suspended for today
-
Haha yeah, you're right. We missed him badly - you know what I mean, or I did at least Edited now

All in all a good point and enjoyable game. They battered us for a period at the end of the first half and start of the second and thought it was going to be a really long second half after they scored. But both teams had chances to win in the end. Missed Campbell badly, but thought maguire did well second half. Ref did us absolutely no favours. How hearts only ended up with 2 yellows is a mystery. I'll be interested to see the wee scrap between aarons and Naismith where aarons got booked, as I could have sworn Naismith had a kick at aarons and got away with it.

With Aberdeen playing hibs, 3 points would be absolutely massive here. Livi playing away from home as well. Not much choice but to field the same lineup that started last night. Unless we can somehow play both long and watt? Don't see it myself but both showed their ability on wed - long was class and some finish from watt. Cant decide whether or not I'd settle for a point now, given hearts' recent rejuvenation.
-
Could have went for long but campbell was just too good last night. Back to his absolute best. Long looked hungry to make up for his red at accies which was pleasing to see.
-
We were all over them first half. What happened? What is wrong with us?? I am so sick of watching us collapse.
-
Aye ok. Just looked and fair enough, kiddies/ families are pretty good value at fir park. I've no kids so it's not something I ever pay much attention to tbh. Category A at Fir park I assume is just celtic and rangers as they're the only clubs that will fill the south stand. I'd hope we are doing what we can to get every other club to bring as many as possible. Juvenile and family ticket is decent price tbf.

Each to their own, but I personally dont get the upset about the £25 entry fee. It isn't really much more than any other away fixture. Yes, I disagree with the notion that they are charging us more when they should be trying to get as many bums on seats as possible for the derby.... but for comparison, we are charging away fans £24 for a category B fixture!! And £30 for a category A. Is it the shitty pitch, the fact its accies, or the fact it's considered a category A fixture? Not meaning to come across as condescending or anything - football is overpriced. But all things considered just not getting what the fuss is about.

Not defending long at all, but there were at least 2 occasions when other of our players kicked the ball away today and werent even spoken to. Obviously glad we didnt pick up further bookings but the inconsistency in our refs is f**king frustrating. Then what declan got booked for at the end, and Gillespies booking?? The ref just seemed to want to be the centre of attention today. All in all not a terrible day - point clear in 3rd and a chance to make it 4 on tuesday. We need to pull up our socks though, been extremely lucky not to lose more ground than we have over the last few weeks.
-
To be fair, we're not the only team who struggles to adapt to that pitch. Livingston are 3rd in the "home" league table. 24 of their 34 points have come at home which is a much higher proportion of points in comparison to the league average. Again, not an excuse for what was on show.
-
Yes - yesterday was worse than accies. Way worse. Our only corner and only shot came in the last couple mins. Corner came to nothing and shot was a daisy cutter from about 25 yards - it did actually trouble the keeper in the end though. A bad day at the office but let's face it livi are a horrible team to play, on an even worse pitch. Time to make up for it on wednesday.
