Yep, this patter is pissing me off as well. Not enough through the gates regularly enough is the reason we have to sell to be sustainable in the first place - the irony. I'm sad to see turnbull leave but realistically we were never going to reject 3M plus. I'm more surprised celtic played ball tbh.
-
Gutted. And to them
-
Celtic can do one. Based on how they went about things with John McGinn last summer, I'd tell them to f@@k off now and not to bother coming back. Cant be dealing with a pre-season of that.
-
10-12 seconds in. F*cking disgusting and also extremely cowardly. Hope it never hit anyone.

This. Plus, it's not very often you get to see the best young, arguably best outright(?), midfielder in the country playing at Motherwell... and he actually wants to be here. Let's enjoy it while it lasts! I think I might have posted a few weeks back with a minimum valuation i felt we'd consider, but I take it back now, hes improving at a rate of knots and I certainly wouldn't be hitting the cash out button now unless it blows our record fee out the water. I am speaking as a fan of course though.
-
I'm the opposite - never been a fan of the white away tops. Always preferred the claret/ reverse home style ones. But that one is smart! Like the home one too. Here's hoping.
-
Strangely looking forward to this one. Nothing to play for gives us the chance to see a few youngsters on the fringes. Also, I see we're doing the free kids tickets in the south stand again and I heard the bottom tier is sold out already, so we could be looking at a decent crowd for essentially a friendly. Suspect we'll see Livingstone, possibly Ferguson and semple start. Hoping for a bit of an enjoyment factor - 2-2 draw.
-
Ditto. £2M plus significant add ons, should be the bare minimum.
-
I believe he can then leave the club at the end of his contract, become a free agent and is free to sign on elsewhere. In that scenario I don't think we're due anything. Emphasis on the word "think". Is a risk for the player though - I'm sure it happened at partick thistle a few years back and the player (bannigan maybe?) couldn't find another club after all, so went back to thistle with his tail between his legs.
-
Ah that would make sense if thats the case. The way it's written is a bit misleading. I imagine if he's signed it would have been announced.

Article mentions that cadden has signed a new deal? Did I miss that???

2018/19 Game 33: Rangers (H) April 7th 12.30pm Kick Off

Sit in the POD and personally felt a bit sick when i realised tavernier had stopped due to a missile being thrown. Don't want our club tarnished with that shite whatsoever. That said, Walsh failing to pull him up for stealing yards was ridiculous, it couldn't have been more blatant. On the football side, im surprised Robinson highlights Turnbull's part in the second goal. For me he was in no position to receive the ball, and Dunne should have played it up the line. He was facing our goal and didn't have much choice of what to do. I wouldn't have been pointing the finger at him for that. I much prefer that we are trying to play from the back, but as robbo mentioned post match you need to pick your moments. Hopefully it's a harsh lesson for the team. We still have all the teams around us to play so it shouldnt affect our final positioning anyway. On the plus side Scott looked lively when he came on, hope to see him get a bit of game time in the bottom 6. -
The double substitution changed the game so firstly credit due to the manager there - Cadden looked lively and frear should have had a second, but it could have been a different, and extremely ugly, second half had st johnstone scored the penalty..... Mark Gillespie!
-
Belter . Sadly I don't think cadden will be though. Robust, great engine, proven at our level and international recognition. There will be some suitors down south unfortunately for us. Just hope we get decent compensation.
-
I agree I'd love to see cadden in a more advanced role instead of the wing back role he's been forced to play for most of the time under Robinson. Great to see him back yesterday and I really hope we can retain him.
-
Ah right, I thought bigi just was a 6 month loan. Makes sense why he's not on the squad list anymore then.
-
My thoughts: Main - unless we've someone lined up I'd want to keep. As poor as his goal return has been, he does some great work that we'd struggle to replace. We're weak for options up top, so unless we think Scott is going to make a breakthrough next season we need something. Even then we'd need someone else in. McHugh - Not a player who will want to sit on the bench, so thanks for the service but happy to move on. Cadden - would love to see him stay but could see a team in England fancying a punt on him. Aldred - would love to keep. Should be a priority. Hastie - offers there, all up to him. Just hope he wants to play regular football. Gorrin - keep. Frear - flashes of brilliance but agree that he's not got the physicality to perform consistently. Happy to move on. Tanner - would expect he'll be offered a years extension, and deserves that opportunity IMO. Adding in: Arriyibi - keep if possible! Love to watch this guy. Mbulu - was signs of a player there. Interested to see how he develops if his injury wasn't too damning. Donnelly - (is his contract up?). Jury is out for me. We've a few centre halves of his standing who I'd play ahead of him. Unsure. ATS, Newell, bigi, Gordon - surely will be away....? Maybe harsh on Gordon, been unlucky with injuries I guess?

2018/19 Game 29: Hamilton (H) March 9th 3pm kick-off
mfc88 replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Both this game and the Livingston home game reminded me of the first McGhee era with the front 3 of McCormack, clarkson and porter, and we would blow teams away in a 15-20 minute spell. Great to witness. -
Agree with most of the posters. Surely the club have the foresight to identify which youngters are likely to break into the first team and these are the guys we sign up longer term before, not after, they make a name for themselves in the first team. If only 1 in 4 actually makes it, and the other 3 bench warm for the remainder of ther contracts then we'd probably still be looking at a good financial return. Not to mention the enjoyment of watching our own develop. We extended Barry macguires deal by 1 year so if he makes it into the team next season, which its looking like he might, we will find ourselves in the same position again. Why wasn't this at least 2 years to give us time to renegotiate if that happens? Out of interest, anyone know what macguire would now be on in comparison to, say, Donnelly or mbulu?

Whatever way you spin it.... make a success of being a footballer and the money will follow. It doesnt necessarily work the other way around. All I'm saying is I hope he looks at those who have opted for the latter before him..... According to Wikipedia and Ben hall has played 11 league games since leaving us 2.5 years ago (edit to add: in league 2), he played 18 league games for us in the space of about half a season before that. I'm sure football-wise he'd be in a much better position had he stayed with us for longer.
-
Andy robertson is the exception rather than the rule. And as weeyin says he was signed for the first team. I was in no way suggesting that any youngster signs, with a view to finishing their career at us, just to make a name for themselves at spl level - I probably didn't word that last bit so well. What I was getting at is, without a doubt, another year or two experience at our level will set them up better for the step up, with still plenty time left in their careers. Kennedy is a brilliant player IMO and I wonder where he'd be now had he done so - better salary than st johnstone can pay I'll bet. Yeah he's pocketed a few years worth of higher wages, but in my opinion, sacrifice that and he would have been more likely to set himself up for a much longer period on much better wages. Now at the age of 25 (ish?), after not making it in the EPL, such offers will be harder to come by. I do see the point you're making though, David. Above is just my opinion on the matter and largely hypothetical, I guess.
-
Livingstone is a funny one. By the sounds of it, he's been a standout in a strong youth team, so naturally I'd like to see more of him.... yet he no longer seems to have much involvement with the first team. Is he injured just now or just not fancied by Robinson?
-
I really hope hastie and all our other young talent for that matter look at the careers of lee erwin, ben hall, robbie leitch etc to see that chasing the money early on doesn't usually pay off. Another one is matt kennedy of st j, left killie after a few promising appearances and now, arguably, he's 5 years behind where he could/should be. I know, I know.... short careers, could get injured and so on..... but surely you'd rather make a name for yourself in the game?
-
Fantastic news re turnbull. Seals his immediate future with us with the potential for decent income further down the line. Cant say i know much about rossiter but really don't see the logic in a potential deal there..... Decent pedigree but frankly untested at this level. Plus we've a generally bloated midfield and don't like the sound of a loan deal to get him fit for rangers next term. I think our transfer dealings are done for this window tbh and all things considered it's not looking bad. Turnbull extension, ariyibi looks the part so far and we all know what an asset a fit McCormack would be. A Hastie contract extension would be nice too!!
-
For the first time in a while I struggled to pick one for the right reasons. Voted Turnbull for his goal and general play. Also campbells best game in a long time and Gorrin looked good. Grimmy can simply be immense to watch with his surging runs. Think he's found his best position at RB.
