  1. Game of the Season: for the unexpected result, it has to be Dundee Utd. Wasn't at the game but like above was probably the most engrossed I have been listening to any of our games this season.

Goal of the Season: We should probably have more to chose from but Suttons stands out a mile.

Player of the Year: No competition for this one but for me it's Clarky. He has been a rock for the club and has done Phil proud this season. His work rate and effort has been first class. Well Done on the goal count as well.

Worst Player: I could say Malcolm but the fact he managed to score with his nads' just inches him above .......... like hell it does. For the money he'll be on, it's been a pure waste. Should've been one of the players that stood out this season, especially in Europe with experience from the Old Firm and EPL but looked lost all the time, especially the return leg.

Young Player: Agree that Jim O'Brien has matured and done better since his debut and just wish that we'd seen more of Murphy this season. Reynolds hasn't had the best of seasons but most of his "glaring" errors have come when Crags wasn't beside him. He's still a young lad and needing guidance. On the basis that no-one else from the youngsters has made it through this season then Jim takes it.

Best Moment: Walking into Fir Park for the return leg with my oldest to watch the 'Well play European Football. Hopefully next season I'll have both of them with me.

Worst Moment: Hamilton winning at Fir Park in the League Cup. Memhet scoring St Mirrens winner in the Cup. Watching Bob Malcolm make two crazy decisions which led to the 2 goals Nancy scored at Fir Park. Sorry couldn't decide which one was worse.

Surprise of the Year: Was down to Mark McGhee not getting on that plane to meet Romanov. The stick he took from our support at times last season was laughable. This season he has taken some as well but a little of it may be deserved but if those team line ups\formations had worked he'd be a genius in our eyes now.

Overall: Failed to meet my expectations of the top 6 with a sloppy display against St Mirren. This game summed up our season, we cracked at the big games. Getting ourselves into that position from bottom of the table at Christmas though goes along way to show we still have the players there to do well next season. 6/10 (An extra point given for the Euro Nights)

Expectations for Next Season: Looking forward to seeing us play on a new pitch with new USH installed. European Football again (fingers crossed). Klimpl signed and no Big Bad Boab in sight.

  2. If we really are that close to qualifying for Europe, the first team should be on holiday by now, and whoever is left will get a game.

Going by the paper reports last week, the lads were giving that option but all of them want to see the season out.

As I said though, newspaper reports!!

  3. I think the main concern here is the injuries Stretch has had since arriving at 'Well. We could offer him a deal and he could be outstanding or he could just as easily pick up another long term injury.

McGhee is the one here that has to take the gamble and if he chooses to re-sign him and he does get injured there'll be folk on here complaining about the waste of a wage. If we don't re-sign him and he helps Inverness to the top 6 next season in the final minute against us there'll be folk that will be on his back for letting him go.

Personal I'd offer him a fairly basic wage, topped up with appearance fee, but he's a young lad and may not see that as being a viable option.

  4. Easy way to solve that.

Start Maros and Clarky, then sub them as soon as we've kicked off. At least that way they get the thanks from the fans for their efforts this season and shouldn't have had enough time to get a tackle in. Especially if the we take kick off. Get Maros and Dc to take it, pass it back to Hughes who then blasts it straight out of the park and hey presto MM makes the masterstroke. :):)

  5. I am struggling with a choice tonight. Can I not vote for Dougie Imrie? Love him or hate him he looks like he could cause a few teams problems.

Probably give it to Buzz has he had a couple of saves to make to keep us in it.

  6. I am hoping that we return from Paisley with 3 points today and no bookings.

However I reckon at least one of them may be asking for to much.

After all Klimpl and Quinn could be playing. :whistling:

  7. I like Stevie and he more than makes up with any mistakes with his graft and creativity for some of our goals this season.

If we were Real Madrid I could understand folk getting on players backs for not doing their job properly but our players do a decent enough job for our side and you can't really complain about the passion and effort a lot of these players give.

However saying all that I would've liked to have seen more from Hughes and Boab this season as a.the 2 best paid players in the squad. b. the players with the most big club experience c. the players with the most European experience.

Who knows if he stays we may see last seasons form again next season.

  8. It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Lappin had told his gaffer that he's wanting to stay at Norwich whatever happens.

Bearing in mind he has been more involved with the first team since Bryan Gunn took over there maybe more chance that offer will come. Especially as they may have to look at selling higher earners.

  9. Sorry folks but I think we need to secure 7thplace before we start putting too many of the young lads in.

Remember each placing is worth more money and no matter if the rest of the games are meaningless as regards Europe and relegation, we still have the best of the rest to play for. If we win our first 2 games after the split we can start looking at introducing more young lads but at the minute we need to stick with the best we have and that is from the squad that started on Saturday.

  10. We all get upset and disappointed at the performances and I know I was after leaving FP on Saturday but after a couple of beers and calming myself down I realised I was more disappointed at falling at the final hurdle than us not actually making the top 6.

Who seriously thought in December that we'd have been so close to getting there though?

Back then I hoped we'd avoid relegation, McGhee's words proved right though that with a fully fit squad we could turn things around. We did that and probably had 3 good chances over the last 4 games to have secured a top 6 place but it wasn't to be.

A win against Killie, Aberdeen or St Mirren would've been enough with the way the results had gone those weekends but we couldn't take advantage so maybe the bottom 6 is where we deserve to be this season.

  11. Yeah but rumours of Hearts had been doing the rounds quite a bit at that point. There have been no such rumours (so far!!) this time.

I honestly believe that he'll be here next season, more to rebuild damage done to his and the clubs reputation this season than anything else.

At the start of the season we thought he'd be offered the Celtic job if Strachan left at the end of it. That is now unlikely, their fans won't be happy taken on someone that at so many clubs has had a good first season and then a poor second.

Mark needs to show that he can turn this season around and show that at the very least we can be knocking on the top 6 door again, if not better.

I know I am happy for him to stay and although there are decisions that we all wonder why to, they are many more that have turned out well for us.

The only thing I ask is that we don't re-sign Bob Malcolm.

  12. News of the World today has him saying he isn't going anywhere this Summer and is preparing for next season. Also carries the bit about players showing thbey want to be here in the next 5 games as well.

Good on you Mark. It's good to hear positive remarks from you about next season.

  13. Sorry but I can't see how McGhee can go from being one of the best managers we've had last season to one that we want to resign just because we didn't make the top 6.

If McGhee stays I am sure that we will be better prepared next season and hopefully have a few more players to help us out if we hit an injury\suspension crisis like we did in December.

I'd back McGhee to have us challenging for the top 6 again next year, hopefully we'll have a couple of players in that won't allow their bottle to break when it comes to the big games.

  14. Well what can I really say about that today?

Probably not a lot that hasn't been said but I suppose one thing we can say is that Hammell ain't a midfielder. Having said that I now also have my doubts about the rest of the so called midfield. How many times was Clarky surrounded by 3 or 4 St Mirren players before one of ours got close to him. It was the same with Jim O'Brien at times as well.

Too many folk out on that pitch didn't seem to want to put in a shift today.

  15. What we've also got to factor in is that if Celtic drew today thenSmith would be more than happy to settle for a 1-0 win.

We have to do this ourselves today by beating St Mirren and then hoping that Rangers don't decide that tomorrow is their day to implode, like they've been threaten to do for ages now.

  16. This comes from one of those long winded I know someone that knows someone who's pal with someone who knows DC.

Anyway the gist is that McCormack has been on the phone telling him to get his arse down South.

Nothing concrete but if that is an option he is willing to look at then his agent may try plugging him over the close season. Bearing in mind that MM has also said he's surprised no-one had made a move for him yet. We could hear more about this over the coming months.

Although I'd be gutted to lose him, I think he deserves a shot to prove himself elsewhere and will wish him good luck when he does eventually move on, whether that's this year, next year of the year after remains to be seen.

Seems Fat Boab might be heading my way...

    Malcolm to Roar?

Bye Bob, thanks for the goals but I hope the door doesn't hit your arse on the way out. Would hate to see the club left with a repair bill for that as well as one for the bench you've been sitting your wages on.
