With the away goals rule, I've always thought that the away team had a significant advantage going into extra time. We should have been planning for all out attack, even at 2-1, knowing that a 3-3 after 120 mins would have taken us through. However, he is an honest guy and should be holding his hands up for some costly errors. Who is at fault for failing to organise friendlies? Who is at fault for failing to replace 3 of our highest earners in advance of a lucrative tie against part time opposition? Answer these questions and then you can then turn your attention to the shortcomings of management and players. Not for the first time, McCall has got his preparation and tactics for a cup game horribly wrong but he has been hung out to dry this summer.

I'm not meaning it as a dig at Vigurs but he needs to be playing with players on the same wavelength. He was on his own last night. Ainsworth was on fire for the first 25 then lost his way like a few others. Again he benefitted from McFadden and/or Anier creating space and angles for him last season.

During the 2nd half if the season, McFadden dragged us through numerous tight games at Fir Park. Holding the ball up front as the midfield went deeper and deeper. Ainsworth and Vigurs were lost without his knowledge and vision last night. And when Anier was at it, he added another dimension to the team. The loss of these 2 and Hutchinson shouldn't be underestimated.
