Having said that, if he was fit, he should have played from the start at Ibrox and the indiscipline could have addressed afterwards. Edit - it still isn't absolutely clear that McDonald refused to train.

The injury to Callum Paterson is a recent reminder as to why any young footballer with decent talent will move to an English club as soon as the right opportunity presents itself. Celtic apart, the gulf in quality and athleticism between England and Scotland is so huge that it's getting more and more difficult to make the necessary development up here. Anyone with an outside chance of becoming an international footballer has to go for it.

I understand it's an annul ritual and the opposition are always invited to join in. Found it very uncomfortable viewing however, particularly with McMahon and Kirkpatrick seemingly lapping up their time in the Blue room.

Hopefully the McDonald issue gets resolved in the next few days, albeit the situation looks to have already hindered our biggest game of the season to date. We simply didn't have an outball. McGhee's plan was ok in theory but it a system that relies on pace and we had absolutely none.

I'm quite taken aback by that McGhee interview. We were unlucky but the better team won on the day and that's fairly acceptable when you are carrying a half fit Cadden and McDonald. Carve out a team that doesn't include dross like Chalmers and Clay and we might have the footballing ability and mental capacity to do a bit better.

Yeah, don't think there's any doubt that Cadden is carrying an injury, which prevented us having an out ball for much of the day. Moult motm, battled away on his own and scored a textbook header that kicked off some fine scenes.
