  1. Johnson was carrying an injury for much of last season. Meanwhile Fletcher has clearly been signed with an element of risk given his knee history. Was good to see Hammell get 50 mins. He looked fine but clearly he now needs to be nursed through a season. Clarkson looked the least fit of the lot.
  2. Pleasant enough afternoon away from the office, the game was quite aggressive in spells for a friendly. Tad concerning from a Motherwell perspective that we showed the same old frailties at the back with absolutely nothing going forward. First impression is that there is a player in Moult but he's going to need someone like Skippy beside him to get him in the game. Pearson motm by a distance with the two centre halves relatively dominant in open play despite the score line.
  3. Looks like Chalmers left mid in a 442. Law takes some hit after 10 secs.
  4. Skippy is a make or break signing that would bring on Moult and Fletcher. Think about the impact he had on Erwin's form.
  5. Absolutely loved listening to these over the summer. Underlines some of the exceptional quality and fine characters we had at our disposal.
  6. That'll be us covered at the back then. Encouraging to hear we are still speaking to Skippy too.
  7. At least one signing to arrive this week according to Burrows.
  8. I was quite impressed with the snippets I seen of Jackson Irvine last season. I'd be happy to see him bolster our midfield if we could somehow arrange a permanent deal.
  9. Our next 2/3 signings are critical. Think we need to bring in some almost guaranteed quality to be in with a shout of the top half. At the moment, I'd go for: Celtic Aberdeen Hearts Inverness Dundee Dundee Utd St Johnstone Motherwell Partick Thistle Kilmarnock Hamilton Accies Ross County
  10. No surprise to see Craigan back at the club, particularly given his connection to Robinson. Pleased to have Craigan at Fir Park but I'm really disappointed to see JJ go, I thought he had the u20s playing some really decent stuff. Is Scott Leitch still kicking about?
  11. Hammell and Marvin absent again. After being an ever-present for a decade, I'm hoping Stevie isn't going to be dogged with injuries for the rest of his career.
  12. Ross MacLean seemingly done very well in the 2nd half of the u20s season, suspect we may see a fair bit of him during preseason. Did Chris Cadden not travel to the Netherlands?
  13. Another piece in the jigsaw with Jim Hollman appointed goalkeeping coach. Worked with some good goalies including David Marshall.
  14. Impressed with his memory of the games. Good guy.
  15. McCormack was underrated and one of the finest Motherwell forwards I've seen, however he's not in the same class as McFadden. If he hadn't pulled out of umpteen Scotland squads though, he'd have the opportunity to possibly prove me wrong.
  16. Love McCormack but McFadden produced at a higher level. Still time for Ross though. If Faddy is looking to go into coaching then I'd like to see him earn his stripes at FP, whether that be with the strikers and/or kids. Hopefully he has a last throw of the dice as a player though.
  17. Great efforts. Toss up as to what one I buy. Well done Motherwell and Macron.
  18. Wonder if we've got one of these promo videos to accompany the launch, hence the delay.
  19. A midfielder we've previously been linked with, Richie Towell, rated as a top bargain. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/jun/30/transfer-window-12-best-deals-summer In addition, Burrows has tweeted that we're 'not anywhere near done' regarding signings. This is shaping up to be one of the most exciting pre-seasons since McGhee came in.
  20. No expectations for the season yet. Important though that the squad gels together quickly enough to handle a tough opening 5/6 games. Credit to Baraclough and the club for getting so many new faces over the line so quickly.
  21. Like the look of Moult. Two 3 years deal in consecutive days. Let's hope we're rewarded for this positive change in setup. I think we'll go on to bring in a Keeper (probably Long), the young Irish boy Foster, back up for centre half, a central midfielder and Skippy.
  22. I'll be interested to see if we pursue Grant. Looks to have a bit of quality about him but he'd need to be playing centrally on a regular basis in order to develop. We certainly need to bring in at least one midfielder who can get about the park and is comfortable on the ball.
  23. Really pleased with this one. I think he is a cracking prospect and it was clear from the playoff that he had developed an affinity for the club. Good business again Motherwell.
  24. So we're looking at 3 strikers in a matter of days with Skippy to possibly follow. Plenty of options.
