Probably more to do with the fact that you look fuckin' scary :-)
-
Me and ma da had E69 & 70 in the Main Stand from 1976 to about 2004/5. Right behind the home dug out. In fact, nice and close to abuse the manager. More than once, Mr Ginger McBaws told me to shut the fuck up when I was giving him managerial advice :-) He did eventually take it though, and fucked off

And to think I got rewarded with a 'hied in hands' smiley and a load of crap sarcasm about how everyone in Norn Iron loves him when I suggested that before the game. Gannon may have got some stuff wrong, but he wasn't wrong about Craigan. Might still be good with a dominant central defender next to him, but as the dominatrix he's not good enough.
-
Don't tell me Flow is playing............... That's worse than having McGarry in the squad !
-
Ha. Cheers. Might sign the boy Reynolds for Stockport next week right enough, but you can keep the Past-It-Paddy
-
Aye, but Norn Iron probably have fewer players to choose from than we do
-
Is Craigan/Reynolds really our best defensive set up ? I know it's been done to death, but I don't think Craigan is secure enough and doesn't attack the ball enough in the box. Might benefit from a sweeper behind him, but I really think his days are over. Looks to me like Craigan may have picked that team

For fuxache ref, get the full time whistle blown

Back in the 'olden days' when I were a boy, we signed a guy called Mike Larnach who had scored a million goals for Clydebank, went down south but didn't make it, then came back north to us. He'd played a good few games without scoring then gets his forst goal for the club, from a cross, but he hit it in with his arse or his thigh or something. Cue the usual goal celebration, and the old geezer behind me says to his pal "Och, that was an awfy bad goal that boay just scored". Nothing I've heard at Fir Park since has ever surprised me PS - Mike Larnach ended up back at Clydebank again and basically bagged another couple of million goals for them. For some reason, he couldn't score in the proverbial with a 'Well strip on.

Might be Gardner mate. I seem to remember he played very little that season and left us for pastures worse :-) He was the Fitzy of his era, in that he was the one the fans blamed everything on. Looking back at them days when you had guys like Peter Miller, Stewart McLaren, Willie McVie and Gregor Stevens in your team, nae cnut f*cked wi' the 'Well :-)
-
Whos is that with the '8' shirt on ? I know it's the gentle Mr McVie in the air but surely Wullie P would normally have had the '8' shirt that season ?
-
Feck !! Wish I hadn't posted that now....one more would have been just fine :-(
-
Too many 'John Ruddy makes a save' on the text updates for my liking :-(

Aberdeen at Fir park in a midweeker circa 1973. 'Well won 2-0 :-)

Paul Wilson is the earliest I can remember too (good player for the rattlers, shit for us though !!)

Best one for me has to be the first 'Well v h**s game I went to...it was around '75 - '76 (the first season of the premier league after they changed from the old first div. Anyways, we drew something like five games at the start of the season (including the Mhankies), then lost away to the whipping boys for the season (St Johnstone), then followed that up with a home win against Hibs. Then came the h**s at home. One down early on and I'm sure it was Bobby Watson who lofted one in to the top corner from what seemed like miles out. Canny mind who scored the other two, but we fucked them over 3-1 and it was the first time I can remember (i'd be about 13) where i was hoarse, breathless, excited to fuck, almost greetin' and every other thing going all at the same time. Have never lost that feeling you get when you see the 'Well butt-fuck either of the old firm :-)

Would tend to agree matey, but it looks shit with the letters peeled off and the residue still on the shirt If they didn't put them on to start with, I think it would look much better. Still, it's my kids shirt and he's pissed right off now
-
Cheers for that matey. Will need to phone and send it back. A trip 'across the water' to take it back aint on, unfortunately

Evenin' all. Anyone else had any probs with the new kit ? I bought a full kit for my sons birthday. It had the WELL lettering on it instead of JAXX (presumably because it was for a kid). Anyroadup, it got it's first (cool) wash today and came out with the lettering in a sticky mess of a ball at the bottom of the washing machine It came up clean enough and the material still looks fine, but it's now just got shadowy marks on it where the lettering used to be. Anyone else had similar probs ?
-
Aye, busy pretending he's not already looking for a new job My spelling is impekable dood...don't go diss-ing the Isle Of Bute Motherwell Supporters Club. Both of me might come looking for ye

Is this different from the BBC then ? Do we have to get players names correct ?? More importantly, how much does it pay and can I jump ship to Sky after three months ?? (I am Mark McGhee)

If you look back at 'Well teams (I started watching them in 73-74 ish but this will apply long before that), every generation of the team had a player that everyone disliked. When I started I think it was Pat Gardner but more recently (90's) most folk moaned like fuck about Ian Angus (and promptly forgot about hating him when he scored in the '91 Final) and everyone who sat around me moaned about Jamie Dolan (though I suspect few would now)probably in the same way folk now moan about Fitzy. The thing is, the manager must see something in these players. Angus and Dolan racked up a few games between them and Tommy Mc was pretty pleased to take Dolan off our hands to Dumpdee Utd. Some players have to do jobs that don't exactly cover them in glory for the good of the team. It amazes me that fans can't see that sometimes The '95 - '96 team the TMc created and McGingerBaws dismantled had a lot of good solid pros in and a couple of 'names' like Coyne but it was a formidable team. I spoke to McCart when he opened my shop and he told me that, that year, the team picked itself and they went out on to the park expecting to win. There were still players in that team that people moaned about
-
Seems you really don't like him As for having him in the team ahead of Reynolds (a few posts up), Shannon was a right back FFS.....signed by TMcL in his last season as manager. Anyone who has followed the 'Well for more than 5 mins will remember that in the Hamsters last season, the team line up always started with Dykstra, Shannon, McKinnon, Krivokapic, McCart, Martin.........that was one of the most dependable defensive line ups in the bleedin' league (with good attacking potential up the flanks) and Shannon was part of that. Do you reckon the departure of Shannon and the introduction of Eddie May in that position improved matters ????

Can;t believe some of the shit on this thread :-) Andy Dornan ? (Sold to somewhere in England, kept the club afloat at the time) Howerd Sameroff ? (half dozen appearences at the end of a season with 60% shut outs) Kia Nysonnen ? (scored a goal live on sky to put us top of the league) Countless others that I can't be arsed going through. If people think Kampmann was the worst manager 'Well manager ever, then they need to look back a bit. We had a shite team when he took over 2/3 of the way through a season and we stayed up. When the new season started, things didn't go tits up until that little c**t nevin appeared. We've had a load of miles worse managers over the years Roger Hynd (excluding his first five weeks), Bobby Watson, Ally McLeod and the incredible Jock Wallace who got rid of some of our best players because they were tims (while telling the papers they were 'lazy')
-
That was the first game I ever went to without my da'. Remember seeing BMcL in the warm up and being chuffed we'd signed him. He was a regular in the BBC highlights scoring screeeeemers for Ayr. Also, if I remember correctly we'd lost Vic Davidson (I may be wrong about that bit) and McLauchlin had Davidson's ability on the ball but was probably a more direct player. A great servant to MFC. Sad loss indeed !! RIP.
