Beat me to itš
-
Also, with Welsh playing today, his only options now for the rest of the season is to stay at Parkhead or return to us. Iād imagine heās back to us
-
While itās disappointing and he was clearly an integral part of the success so far, perhaps our best game to is season was against Celtic and Welsh didnāt play. Hopefully, we get another body in but weāve shown we can live without him.
-
Iām not sure if this has already been mentioned but if you listen to Stephen Robinson about how they beat Celtic in the league cup final, he talked about leaving Trusty with the ball. Unlike Jens, he was patted on the back for a tactical masterclass. Scottish media really does have itās favourites š¤¦āāļø

I listened to sports sound this afternoon and they played a clip of JBAās interview from yesterday; he mentioned looking to see what the rest of this season could look like and what we could be as we head into next season. Someone mentioned this before - perhaps the platform Motherwell give/ have given is more important than a few extra pounds each month. It certainly is a great time to be on this particular Motherwell rollercoaster

And yet, we went to Ibrox the other week and won; we are capable of beating teams at the top end of the league when things look grim. I do agree that things donāt look great but they could absolutely be worse. It wonāt be pretty between now and the end of the season but I think weāll have enough to fall over the right side of the line

Watching sportscene there and noticing Craggs on with Alan Stubbs - is that a possible pairing for the managerās job? Is Stubbs trying to keep himself relevant with the Scottish gameš¤·āāļø

The ex Airdrie keeper has been dropped; seems they both struggle with pressure
-
Judging by the line ups on the BBC, it was around the 83 min that they brought on Chalmers and he was the replacement for sub they couldnāt bring on. Iād be surprised if they decide to replay the game but hey, itās Scottish football š¤·āāļø

Theo just the same as James Forrest then?? All that way to warm a benchš¤·āāļø

Not sure if this has been chatted about already but does this give any indication to possible colours for next session? https://x.com/MotherwellFC/status/1796859239178346978 also, any idea if this will be available to buy, if those itk can say?

BBC listing miller as captain - planning for next year??
-
I thought Tannaduce had been ruled out because it didnāt have the correct set-up for VAR; if thatās the case, Iād be surprised if Airdrie had the appropriate equipment. Does that mean closed door games donāt been VAR or have controversial decisions??
-
Iāve watched the highlights on tv and McCann gets it spot on - itās high up on the sleeve against Bair and more towards the elbow for Shinnie. There is a panel that reviews the VAR decisions at the end of each round of games and Iām sure there will be an acknowledgment of the errors in this game; but thatās pointless (just like us yesterday). If we end up in the play-offs by a point, will the SFA or the SPFL save us? No chance. When VAR was brought in, it was for clear and obvious errors; the scrutiny required to see Bairās handball (??) tells you that it was clear or obvious. Collum was standing facing the Shinnie one, with an uninterrupted view - thatās surely clear and obvious. As many others have said, VAR isnāt ruining the game; itās the poor humans who are operating it. We had poor officials before VAR and all we have done, is out the same poor officials in front of a tv screen.

I see Biereth has scored tonight for Sturm Graz

IIRC, Nevin spoke at the Glasgow launch of his book and he told a story of a controlling company rather than Boyle making decisions. Motherwell were part of the portfolio and if finance was affected in one part of the company, Motherwell suffered too. Nevin spoke about being called to meetings in town to discuss the finance and hoping to get things correct but the money taps being turned off by this company. As I said, I may have picked that up wrongly but that was my take at the time of the book launch.

As has been said by others, the figures for this year suggests the defence is needing more work than the attack. Perhaps Kettlewell is considering three at the back, and using the new fullbacks as wingbacks in a 3-5-2; I get that leaves the question about who partners Bair - maybe Spitall or Paton fills that role, or Vale. He was prepared to go with Montgomery and Gent so perhaps he sees merit in having additional fullbacks/ wingbacks who can play that role. I donāt see Kettlewell making deliberately negative choices that would/ could ultimately result in his sacking; why would he do that?
-
Heard him mentioned about being out of contract too; might have his sights set higher than us tbf

With all the debate about Kelly at the moment, it was interesting to listen to the chat in Clyde SSB tonight about Craig Gordon. The chat was about him perhaps heading out on loan in January - if thatās the case, would it be worth a punt?
-
Thatās the very one - much appreciated thanks
-
Random question (and not sure itās the right place) but does anyone know if the training top that the players had on after the game on Saturday is available to buy? It was a claret body with amber lines
-
A handful of former players on the pitch tonight for Arbroath and Dundee United - there arenāt too many who go on to bigger and better after they leave us
-
Did we not get a qualifying round for the Champions League the following season against Panathanikos or did you mean directly into the groups?
-
Hopefully this stays in the āFormer players threadā and not the āins and outsā but I see the BBC Scotland gossip page is saying that Moult has unfinished business with us; mibbee he stills owes money for the physio bill or something. Louis donāt spoil our memories of how good you were by coming back a dud again.

I totally agree about the Sligo embarrassment but we donāt have either Alexander or Hammell at the helm, and we are a different team from where we were. Under Kettlewell, weāve been transformed into a more competitive, well organised team, capable of winning games of football. I also accept that avoiding relegation was the first priority for Kettlewell and he definitely looks to have done that but we arenāt there yet. Far more to be optimistic than we dared believe a few short months ago. And we are certainly looking up and not down
