  1. So with all the injuries at the mo, are we perhaps now suffering most from John Porteous's departure? He was seen to be a genius at getting injured players back & keeping players free from injuries.
  2. I suppose they're too different kinds of players - I'm not sure Faddy would be classed as an out-&-out centre forward, while Goodwillie isn't exactly the creative type. Would I swap Sutton of last year or Higgy of 2 years back with Goodwillie of the same periods? No chance but Goodwillie from the early days was certainly a talent. As mentioned before, yet another waster of his talent
  3. Just heard McInnes moan about free kicks & cheating (mibbee not the cheating!). Does he not remember Anderson's handball back at the 'Ark?? GIRFUY, manager of the year. The man has no class!
  4. The away strip would be fine by me. The band on the home strip was white & black, so not sure what we would have, claret & white on an amber strip?
  5. Always good to see our club get some recognition, especially after all the love for McInnes & McNamara. Good read as well m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/26808307
  6. Excuse my cynicism, but, are the season books not about to go on sale for the H&@s? They obviously need to look like they're strengthening the squad to placate the thick-as-f&@ks whose money they need.
  7. Is this something we should be considering or is he liable to be outwith our pay scale? http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/mar/06/craig-gordon-fresh-start-knee-problem It's also a good article
  8. Sidney mentioned this on 'Off the Ball' yesterday, but did I not see something about the monies going to a children's hospice/ hospital or similar?
  9. You mean like a Paul Lambert or ,and I'm not in anyway comparing them, a Makalele (sp!)
  10. Always thought "hairy macaroon" sounded awful I'll get my jacket...
  11. Huge result, solidly in 2nd place & back with a positive goal difference! Hopefully we'll continue our strong 2nd half to the season tradition. Fingers crossed results go our way on Wednesday
  12. You would think playing Stewart made more sense because he'll be training with the players day in, day out & the defence will know him. So to play a total stranger makes no sense, and that's before we ask whether or not he's any good or has any game time.
  13. Sensible reflection & pointing out figures such of these will get you chased off this forum
  14. From today's Herald http://www.heraldscotland.com/mobile/sport/football/mccall-rules-himself-out-of-return-to-bramall-lane-in-wake-of-weir-exit.22463548?utm_source=headlines&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=email%252Balert I'd imagine this type of questioning will get trotted out every time a former club becomes available.
  15. If memory serves, did we not have a real sticky start to last season also?
  16. I don't think Gunnar beside Hollis would have stopped what I thought was a bullet header from about 8 yards or so.
  17. To an extent, I'd agree. But basics like crosses into the 6-yard box should be a prerequisite for your goalie. Also, I'd agree that in the past 2 keepers, we've been blessed with 2 outstanding examples, both tough acts to follow. If Hollis had followed Stevie Woods he might not have felt so daunted or us so lacking in his abilities.
  18. Goalkeepers are like strikers in the respect that they are confidence positions. Both can be terrible when things are going badly & the opposite when things go well. However, unlike a striker who misses, a goalkeeper who doesn't collect a cross or clear his lines generally causes a goal when that happens.
  19. Somebody behind me kept talking about his height & how was too small to be a goalie. Out of curiosity, or boredom, I had a look at Wikipedia for both Hollis & Randolph. Both the same height. Some folks just looking for an excuse to criticise methinks
  20. Can't think of a single player who'd get pass marks. No composure in possession & at times struggled to find one of our players. McCall needs to take some share if the blame, no support for Sutton, only McCall to blame for that. Could be a long season...
  21. I thought we'd be much closer to 10,000 at this stage. There were only singles left for the Cooper & Phil stands yesterday & I thought, wrongly, that it would be almost full.
  22. When fit he was a brilliant attacking full back but not sure how his fitness levels are now
  23. And Dan Petrescu was their manager for a couple of years a little while ago. If the Cisse who played at QPR last year turns up, I don't see much to worry about, he was gash!!
