Hello,
I think £800k for a guy who has a year to run on his contract is good business. I am pleased for Clarkson. I think moving somewhere new will develop him better as a player. He had gone as far as he could at Motherwell and all the emotional baggage he had here could not have helped. Thanks for the memories and all the best Clarky.

Surely we can afford to go for Griffiths now if we are to receive a decent sum for Clarky, if Dundee are only paying £125,000. Wouldn't be too bothered if Quinn is to leave if we were to keep McLean, but with that looking unlikely it would be stupidity to get rid of Coach if we don't have anybody elses lined up. Saunders will be his replacement at the moment if he does go but far too inexperienced.
I don't buy this too inexperienced pish. He came in for a few games and didn't disgrace himself. The same could have been said about Reynolds when he came in with no experience. I think we need to get back to basics and move some of these young players up the pecking order. McGhee was too afraid to give these guys a decent run in the team (Meechan, Page, Hutch, Saunders, McHugh). For all his faults, Butcher had no choice but to use the youth and I am confident we can do the same with the new manager.

Who are Motherwell going to get (or more importantly, afford) that's better than a striker who is frequently called up for international duty?
Hmmm, perhaps you would like to see Clarky walk out like McCormack??? Incase you hadn't noticed, we are a selling club and I would rather both he and/or Quinn moved for good money than have them walk away for derisory compo.
As for a replacement, well that's not my job to identify and scout talent, however perhaps we can get someone like Ports, it's up to the new manager. There have been better players come in before Clarky and better will arrive after him.
Laugh all you like, but you know it makes sense to cash in now, rather than have them walk away for very little, espeically in the current climate.

I would gladly drive Quinn to Cardiff for you. He is an okay right back, however his big mouth and attitude get him into trouble on and off the park. As for Clarkson, he flatters to deceive too much for me and isn't anything like McCormack. Again, guilty of opening his mouth and getting booked, I think both players would be better if they moved on from Motherwell.
We could use the money and build a better side.

Are we not jumping the gun here? I know we're all gagging to find out who the new manager is, but Boyle will take his time, have proper interviews and make sure he has the right man.
Is it not the case that Scott Leitch is going to come back temporarily to oversee the side for the Europa qualifying leg?
I've read some p1sh on here, but that takes the biscuit.

I'll make a shout for John Collins, he is available now and likes to play attractive, attacking football. He could also make use of some of the boys coming through, like he did at Hibs, especially if the Sultana money goes AWOL.
I wouldn't mind Nijholt, however I would take Collins first.

As per my previous post, these are the countries we are could visit as we are a seeded team.
Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Albania, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Faroe Islands, Wales, Northern Ireland, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Malta.
As far as I know there won't be the usual split of Northern and Central/Med fixtures, which would mean we could be travelling far.
These are the unseeded countries in the 1st qualifying round each having two teams, apart from Macedonia, which only has one.
Everywhere is okay with the exception of Azerbaijan, Albania and Kazakhstan and of course Wales
I'm hoping for a wee trip to Malta, top up the tan!

McGhee should be ashamed at the selection of players today. I was looking forward as most fans were to seeing some of our U19 talent such as McHugh, Hutchinson, Saunders, Page getting a run out for what was a meaningless game.
But no, we were "treated" to a tired lacklustre 'Well side who struggled throughout. Quinn should be sold ASAP as he is a complete waste of space, getting booked for a mindless volley of the ball off a Killie man 5 yrds from the ref. We have cover in McLean and Saunders and Quinn is like an albatross around Motherwell's neck.
As for McGhee being absent at the end, no excuse, both him and Leitchy should have been out thanking the fans for their support. Very poor show Mark.
As for the future, I think we have seen the last of Reynolds, expect him to be wearing a light blue jersey next season and I would expect £1.5m to help pay for improvement to Fir Park.

Agreed, Muttley seems to want every player around the box to roll the ball, touch it, slide it to someone who is in a better position to shoot.
We should be getting our strikers to make space for their own soht or encourage players to take shots on, rather than trying to set up a "perfect" goalscoring opportunity. It was very apparent last night.
