Park the car at the border and slide onto a donkey. See you there if...
  4. ......then give it to me. Take it tickets are not available on the night. I live south so am not able to get up to Fir Park to collect one. Shall go anyway and try to get one on the night.
  5. Apologies if answer is on another thread, but are tickets available for match at the gate. Just decided I'm going so any info welcome.
  6. I understand what your saying Andy. Just like to see us join the Keep then sell type of club.
  7. I hope it's just Gannon putting the attention on Craigan in order to protect the team. He's the senior internationalist and can take it. After we win the replay I expect Gannon to praise him.
  8. Your spot-on with what you say nethertonwellfan. All our players have a price and I know it's off topic but my gripe is that we are selling our assets too cheaply. I can't for the life of me understand why we didn't extend certain player contracts when their stock was high - 3rd place finish. Modest/affordable raises to wages in the short term might have helped secure these extensions. This is not speculating or gambling because it is more than coverered by their market value. The way most players seem to view it is that providing assurances are made by the club not to stand in their way when a so called bigger club comes in for them, they sign up in the short term for more money. If their valuation (decided buy player, agent and club) is met by any club they would be allowed to discuss personal terms etc. Recently we have sold Porter 400k, Clarkson 700k and now Quinn for 300k. Although some people think we've done well by getting these figures, I'm not one of them. We've let McCormack go (minimal compensation) and could be letting go free for various reasons, Smith, Hughes, McLean and others. I'm not saying we could have kept these players for longer but some should have generated a transfer fee. Incidently, that means a possible team worth of Motherwell players is worth a little over half of Fletchers apparent value. MM was happy to allow this to happen. I hope Gannon can persuade or show Boyle how to make the most from our assets. Can we not start offering two/three year contracts with modest wage rises each year in the hope that the players feel more secure. At this moment in time we are being raped by all and sundry.

    In's And Out's

I agree with a lot of your views on the players. he defensive weaknesses are out wide. I would without hesitation replace Hammell at LB and then whether you locate him somewhere else in the team is another question. I know I've said it before and despite his swine flu, QOS's Bob Harris would be a good choice. Disagree with your views about Lasley. He isn't able to provide any attacking threat and doesn't have the defensive/passing skills or goal threat of a Klimpl or Hughes. Jennings is already above him in my mind and I haven't even seen him play. Sutton as a lone striker is like ................. I struggle to find words. Six players at least!
  10. If the sale of Paul Quinn means the manager has all his transfer fee and a little extra to spend on stengthening the spine of our team, then reluctantly i'll accept his loss. For me, the need to score goals and have a greater attacking threat is more important than PQ's contribution and effect on the team. Saunders has first team experience now and if he is going to develop at Motherwell, he needs to be given his chance. (Until we have better wide men I would like to see our fullbacks concentrate on keeping a solid defensive shape though. Both Hammell and Saunders seem more comfortable further up the park). If he goes, I wish him luck.
  11. Was sitting in the East stand last night when someone shouts, `Where the fuck is our midfield?`. `Behind the number 4` came the reply.

I watched him play 3 times against my local team - Annan Athletic last season and although I might just have missed him through beer, pies and pissing, I can't remember him being a stand out. Hope he does well though and takes his chance if he gets one. They seemed to be a quick, young team and deseved to go up.
  13. The Glen Hoddle shout was a joke in relation to the comments I made about the pitch. Rest assured I think there is as much chance Glen Hoddle being the next Motherwell manager as there is my wife waking up tomorrow morning 4 stones lighter. No matter how much I wish it it ain't going to happen.

If Setenta pay up and McGhee and Leitch's transfer goes through, the monies collected can then be added to the money available through some of our highest earners moving on. Boyle should have as much money as most teams in the league. I'm ruling out the hit MFC are taking with the pitch inprovements as Porters transfer surely covers the majority of that. Merchandise sales look promising (like the strip and will buy three for me and the boys). Oh and Europe is here again. The McGhee bollocks aside, Motherwell FC are in a good position. The choice of manager is vital though so I'm prepared to wait even if that means another fortnight. For what my opinion is worth, I think we will see 4/5 signings but not for a couple of weeks yet. We need some `trappers and passers with pace` as my old coach used to say.
  15. Agreed and the club badge can be one of them.
  16. If our new pitch is as good as we all hope it is and and groundstaff say it will be, then there is only one man for the job. Glen Hoddle to Fir Park.
  17. I'm still laughing. I would like a porridge bowl with the club badge on the bottom of the bowl. When I was a kid my gran had these porridge bowls with Highland Cattle pictures on them. I use to love scapping the porridge out to see which cow I had.
  18. Thankyou for putting forward the argument that he might be happy with Finland. I agree with it also but do you think he would be interested in us if.........? Nilholt looks the fans favourite.
  19. For me the stand out candidate who we might actually be able to afford is Stuart Baxter. Now theres an argument that he might be happy with Finland, but...........if he submitted his CV it would blow all other likely candidates out the water. His contact's in `world football` and his knowledge of youth football are second to none. As my gran used to say, `It's time he came home from his wanderings and settled down`. Get on the blower Flow and tell Boyle to give him a phone.

Spot on. If we are finally going to have a pitch suitable for playing quick passing football then we sure as hell better get some pace and passers signed up. The players talked about leaving are some of our best passers. For me, the defence is reasonable comfortable on the ball but beyond that it's weak technically. I'd be surprised if Motherwell really scout europe. Klimpl (looks Scottish) and Krysiak aside, there aren''t any other foreign players in the squad. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that the squad is mostly made up of young scottish lads but maybe they would benefit from some foreign influence/experience in the squad. For me the team needs some pace and craft. With money tight there should be big clubs loaning like the good old RBS.

    Mm Interview

  22. Just back from the Spirit of the West bash at Inveraray so thanks for comments. I'd love Fir Park no matter what it looked like. My point was my kids and perhaps other kids in and around Motherwell see it as a dump (they don't understand character yet and instead like shiny plastic things). I'd like to see MFC tear a lump of the height of the South stand and use the materials, seats and all to fill in a couple of the corners if possible. In any space created, I'd like to see a museum-type thing housed within the stadium so there was somewhere my kids could go on match days to veiw the clubs history and character. Maybe give the kids some big screens so they've got something to look at at Half-time and the fans have got some images to cheer (and knowing some of the Firpark faithful) abuse also. New or renovated grounds don't have to look soulless. Just don't enploy companies that specialise in erecting sheds and warehouses. Like everyone else I'm pleased to hear about the new pitch being carefully planned.
  23. Since clawing our way back from the abyss with sensible governance, the football's been good to watch and we've enjoyed some success. The club now has a trendy new shirt maker, a great programme and Leeann instead of HAL. Why is it then that when I get to the ground and SIT in the STANDS, I get a little down. I got annoyed with my two kids at their school show the other day when they told their classmates, the grounds a dump. The eldest one who is ten then said after a minute or so, `you can't argue with that dad`. I've been fortunate enough through work to have had a look around a few club grounds down South (Stadium MK and the Galpharm Stadium) and there are obvious improvements that could be made. Basically MFC looks like it could do with a transfusion and I was wondering who the money men & women are in Motherwell that could invest in the club. If moving is a distant dream then Boyle needs to find the money to renovate the ground. Has Boyle ever talked with anyone interested in investing in the club?
  24. A good read. Well done to those concerned. Appologies for ignorance, but are there supporters leagues similar to the senior league set up.
