  1. Thanks Diggle. I cannot disagree with anything you've said, although I feel the bit about club finances is a tad harsh. My point was really that I do not understand how missing out on the `Celtic at home` money is a `catastrophe`. I believe the club should aim to balance its books without top six money. I was trying to point out that despite Motherwell actually having a good year financially, we are being told that a loss will be made and this will impact on signings. If that is the case I am disappointed we are spending money we don't have.
  2. Is there going to be major pitch repairs again? My money is on little more than a re-seeding.
  3. In relation to John Boyle's `missing Celtic game` comments posted earlier. I'm not getting how this will impact on re/signings. Might just be totally missing something but how come suddenly not getting £120 000 odd for a game with Celtic equates to a catastrophe. Is Boyle saying that at the start of the season he was expecting us to finish in the top six? (How many people on here thought we'd make the top six after losing the players we did?) I find it unbelievable that he budgeted for such an outcome. MFC had significantly reduced its wage bill towards the end of last season by selling some of our biggest earners and promoting youth players on smaller wages. We made good money through transfer sales and spent nothing ourselves. We even got a good fee for M&M. Europe surely made something for the club and there was a new strip, decent season ticket sales due to the prospect of europe, a new manager and a new team. If we're still making a loss after that, Boyle needs to realise he's not up to the job of running a football club. I recognise we have had big outlays (pitch, ground maintenance and TV loss) but surely above is covering them. One more thing. Can someone at the club politely tell him to shut the fuck up. If your looking to sell a player or two in the summer and get the best possible price for them, don't tell the world and every club in it that your desperately needing money just to break even.
  4. I've found a stand design. What do you think? http://www.myinterestingfiles.com/images/2...noahs_ark_5.jpg http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...%26tbs%3Disch:1
  5. Like everyone I would rather have a full ground than a half empty one. Only way that is going to happen is if we lower the match price significantly and look to lower the grounds capacity (take away the top teir of the South stand). Im for £10 adults / £15 family ticket / OAP's £5 . Can only speak for myself but if that then leads to a lower salary cap and the odd season in a lower division so be it. It's time for a smaller ground (not necessarily on a new site) with tighter stands and low admission prices.

    Bounce Game

`Dominic Cervi was beaten to a through ball by a Motherwell trialist and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot`.
  7. Going for the Well win. Hope I'm not proved wrong but I think this break will prove to be crucial as there's not a team around us that doesn't look tired. In terms of games left we have reached the `garden gate`. Full steam ahead. It's a charge for Europe!

    Bounce Game

`Dominic Cervi was beaten to a through ball by a Motherwell forward and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot`. This line made me laugh. Shoddy reporting?
  9. This is a good one also. Fingers crossed for another trip soon. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6sxxz_ue...otherwell_sport
  10. It can work. My own kids have been given free tickets at school buy QOS FC. The difference is a few players turned up at the school, helped with football for P.E and then showed a few tricks. The kids loved it and then got their tickets. They all went and many now go regularly. The players are our biggest selling point. They should be invited into all the schools in and around Motherwell to talk about fitness and health and offer advice to school teams and aid in P.E classes. They might already do this of course but I've not read much about these types of initatives other than one offs. It's the personal contact with the players that helps them identify with the club.
  11. 28 points in twelve games now sees us 28 points above the team that sits bottom. It has a rather nice balance to it.
  12. Going to this one. I predict 3-2 Well.

    In's And Out's

    That's hysterical. Thankyou.
  14. Happy with the point and pleased some players were rested with Saturday in mind as I thought I heard a few comments on the radio about a couple of our players looking tired. After Hearts, the players get the chance of some well earned R&R.
  15. Enjoyed the interview. Thanks. My better half says she can understand why younger women find him attractive. Brown has been a breath of fresh air and I feel priviliged (for want of a better word) that he and Knox are at the helm. Their experience and knowledge of the game is vast. Hopefully Boyle is seeking their advice on the blueprint for the future of MFC.
  16. For me £500-700k for Reynolds is a good deal. Like someone said, we might be needing some of that money in the summer. Then again European football under Brown and Knox may just convince a few players that it's worth hanging around MFC for a wee while longer. A lot of players mentioned were brought here on short term deals that suited both parties - 1 or 2 year deals. Downside is that if the player has a good season they hold all the cards. In Scotland alone there are arguably 6 clubs that can offer bigger contracts than us. If they shine we lose them for a fee probably agreed by their agent when they signed on. We have made profit for a few years now and benefited greatly from these type of deals and I have to say it's something Boyle should be praised for (BM aside). We can always hope every now and again a player decides that Motherwell is his team and decides to sign on, make good money and stay for a while.
  17. Gannon's good start to the season also benefited from the team having competitive football pre-season (still can't believe we played six European ties before an SPL ball was kicked) He failed to build on that advantage and instead he ruined the good work done. Hearts game aside. Gannon’s last ten SPL games as Motherwell manager P 10 W1 D5 L4 /Goals For 13/ against 22/ Points 8 Brown & Knox first ten SPL games as Motherwell manager P 10 W7 D3 L0 /Goals for 14/ Goals Against 2/ Points 24 An unbelievable turnaround.
  18. It will because Craigan's legs will surely have found that pitch in Albania hard work.
  19. If we are going to continue playing winter football without any kind of meaningfull break then they must surely be considered an option. A big decision needs to be made here. We've had some bad weather over the last few winters and who's to say that isn't going to continue. It has caused damage to all but a few scottish pitches but perhaps more importantly it is costing clubs a small fortune. Money that should be being spent on improving the match experience and avoiding debts is being flushed away. Awful pitches comes with winter football and has always caused disruption to those who attend the games. It seems that ridiculously late call off's in all our leagues is now the norm. I don't know if the quality of the pitches is putting anyone off attending matches but I would be interested to know if it has. Would prefer a winter shutdown or summer football over plastic pitches. For me, football is a game best played on grass.
  20. How is it that a situation has come about where a few dicks (who can't handle their drink) can dictate the experience the majority of fans have at a game. Only in Scotland. The English comments are relevent because their police and FA quickly realised if anyone kicks off they should be dealt with the same as they would be if they were on a busy Saturday high street. Life bans from football clubs provide a big deterant in England and I'd imagine it would have a big effect up here as well. This is a problem society should deal with and football clubs shouldn't shelter these retards. I would love to have a couple of beers whilst watching a match. I should be allowed to as well.
  21. Put that one to bed if you excuse the pun - thief.
  22. Just back home from match after an eventful drive south (picked up a hitcher then had to smack him and throw him out the camper. I would imagine he's still lying at the Lockerbie turn off). Happy with the result although can't say I really enjoyed the game. First time I've been up for nearly two months and I tend to agree with those who say the pitch is a disgrace. Anyway I'm needing a drink.
