I think he'll sign more than 4 players, although it won't be a complete overhaul. If the squad, as is, can't play his intense high prerssing game, he'll bring in a few new faces to enable that change in style. Also, he won't want to upset current squad members as we still have 4 competitive fixtures to fulfil.

The Official site reports " no new injuries" ahead of the game, but no mention of Gordon or Maswanise. I really hope Gordon makes it as, if he doesn't, we'll struggle to field a back 4.
-
I agree with that, but really don't know much about which youngsters are ready to step up, if indeed there any. The organisation of youth football has a lot to answer for, but thats a separate debate. I've heard of the likes of Wells, Ross and Whyte, but thats about it. Hopefully there are some about to fledge. Long term developing our own youths is the only way forward. To balance that we need a sprinkling of old heads like Halliday to show them the ropes.

Balcombe is only on loan. Matty Connelly might be a decent enough keeper at non league/Second Division level but thats it. He's now 22 and never made a first team appearance. His problem is that he's just too small for the Premiership at 5-10 /6-0. He'd get battered by Jordan Whites and Ikpeazus of the world. These days 6-2 is about the minimum height for a top level keeper. St Johnstone has just signed a 6-8 keeper (don't know if he's any good mark you). I suspect we'll release Matty Connelly at the end of the season and re-allocate his wages elsewhere. A similar discussion on P & B.

James Wilson of Hearts willl take some beating. He ticks a lot of boxes. Thats assuming he's been nominated.

Our defence has been poor this season but if SOD and Sparrow now miss the next 2 games through suspension, then we'll struggle to field any kind of back 4. Far from ideal going into critical games.

I don't think we will end up in 11th place, but we're not 100% safe yet. Yes, the other teams will take points off each other of course. For example if all the other 4 teams beat St Johnstone and also beat us. There's 6 points each to start with. In that scenario we could only finish above Ross County. If they were to get one more draw they could possibly finish above us on goal difference. Very unlikely I know but not impossible. The more points St Johnstone can accrue the better for us.

Thats assuming Gordon is deemed fit to play. I guess it could be a back 4 of Koutroumbis Casey Seddon and Thompson.

In general, I agree with you. However would insurance not cover at least some of the wage costs of injured players? As for loan players, who pays their wages if they return to their parent club eg Vale & now Kaleta.
-
Dundee will certainly score given the frailty of our defence and midfield. However, a draw is not beyond us and would represent a good result. 2-2

Hope you're feeling better now. I thought exactly the same, thinking that the line up was very cautious but maybe he was limited by injuries? Mashwanise being out was a body blow certainly. Looking at the bench, Seddon is not match fit. Kaleta is nowhere to be seen. Andrews, Dickson and Tavares don't inspire confidence. I suppose we could have played Armstrong along with Watt or Moses but he didn't really have much leeway for shaking things up.

Oh I get that. Its usually announced as "A minimum of X minutes". However, its quite unusual for a referee to add any further extra time. Once the minutes have been announced, we've seen injuries, subs, goals, VAR, time wasting but very rarely amendments to additional time.

Similar to me although I'm retired. Football is ridiculously expensive but so are other forms of entertainment. The cost of musical gigs and other such events has rocketed. Each to their own, but value for money isn't a factor for me. The bottom line as Stuwell2 says is that a renewal helps the club.

Yes poor defending. Tom Sparrow was caught out with a ball over the top. Kirk was completely unmarked and allowed to pick his spot. A great keeper to striker goal and possibly winner of Saints' goal of the season. Balcombe looked a little culpable for their second

https://www.falkirkherald.co.uk/sport/football/falkirk-reveal-dispute-resolution-process-likely-as-they-gear-up-to-challenge-senseless-spfl-premiership-artificial-pitch-ban-5026678 (Falkirk Herald) Falkirk are challenging the SPFL's decision, which was based on a democratic vote, to ban plastic pitches in the Premiership from the 2026-27 season. They know what the rules are, and have done for some time, so why can't they just adhere to them? Here we go again. Some other clubs, with a vested interest, including Livingston, Airdrie, Raith and Hamilton have held discusions about this.

A crucial win yesterday and the result, not the perfomance, was the only thing that mattered. I thought that Johnny K, Watt and Slattery were the pick of the bunch. We lost 2 soft goals , but that's par for the course this season. The starting line up looked insipid on paper but it did the business. It was a blow to lose Maswhanise before kick off as this game was tailor made for him. St Johnstone were fired up as we knew they would be and committed 3 fouls before 3 minutes showed on the clock. That theme continued and Steven MacLean's inconsistent awarding of cards was a bit annoying. He also found an additional minute to add onto the additional 5 minutes at the end. Not often we see that. The final 25 minutes or so were torture to watch as we retreated under an onslaught, largely toothless it has to be said. One mildly amusing facet of the game (I can say that in hindsight as we won) was the introduction of Uche Ikpeazu. There was a murmur of anticipation, even amongst Well fans, when he rumbled onto the pitch. I was expecting him to appear a bit earlier, but as he's only played 15 minutes this season, it wasn't surprising. He caused chaos in our defence frequently requiring the attention of 3 defenders. Although not especially talented, or effective, his imposing physique caused us problems. He dwarfed Dan Casey and swatted him aside like an annnoying fly. Hopefully he'll cause more chaos for opponents in St Johnstone's remaining 4 fixtures. Onwards and upwards. Time to renew my season ticket.

With only 4 games to go too! When Kettlewell left some fans were saying it was too late in the season to change managers!
-
Essentially what he's saying is you can't make a similar challenge i.e. foot off the ground in case an opponent comes in fractionally later and from the side. Utterly absurd.
-
We really do lack a defensive destroyer type in there. Davor is just that type of player but unfortunately is too lightweight.
-
The problem is that I don't think we have the midfielders to play in a 4-4-2 , or similar, formation.
-
Apparently Liam Gordon has again been ruled out.
-
Gordon, if fit.

A touchy subject for some but its the right decision. It brings us into line with other clubs and organisations not to mention state pension age rises. For those aged 60 or over and already receiving an age concession its a fair approach. The transition period will work its way out.
-
Season tickets now on sale. Not surprisingly involving price increases, especially for some concessions. Quite a few alterations to age categories. Glad to see the Under 13 regulation has now been changed to Under 12. Age 60 concession threshold now upped to 65 - seems reasonable. New pricing category 18-21. New Under 5 free category.
