  1. I'm a bit more modest in my ambitions for us. I'm not looking for more football, just more effective football. It would be great to beat United by any means. I don't mind If they play us off the park, have goals chalked off and stonewallers turned down. As long as we score more than them.
  2. Watched the early stages and we looked like rabbits caught in headlights. Defended far too deeply and left wings exposed. It was no surprise that Sevco opened the scoring. In truth we we were beaten at 1145. Playing Goss and Tierney in the same team was a big mistake. Why no Woolery?
  3. Yes, it looks very lightweight. I'll change my mind though, if we beat them.
  4. We could have a few missing ourselves. Is Van Veen suspended today?
  5. That's it for me. The bottom line is that we shouldn't be disadvantaged financially in terms of hospitality etc. I would hope that has been addressed. The whole issue should have been resolved when the post split fixtures were being worked out.
  6. That may not be a bad thing. I can't see any changes in the short term, unless results on the pitch take a massive and sustained nosedive. Continuity might suffer, but fresh ideas and blood may be what would be required.
  7. In principle I'm all for VAR if it cuts out referee howlers. We'll see. If delays are seen to be a problem, then there's plenty of scope to eradicate current time wasting practices and speed the game up. Are you listening Mr Stryjek?
  8. I suspect we weren't given much say in the matter, despite the protocols in place.
  9. Presumably they sounded us out first before approaching the SPFL? We're the home club after all.
  10. Good luck to Keith. A real professional and gentleman and a loyal servant to the club. Rumours of him moving on have been rife for some time now and it will benefit him to move on to pastues new. Also seen rumours of backroom changes as Well Well mentions.
  11. I think they only have to justify it by mentioning a very broad term such as "Ungentlemany conduct" or something similar. Might be wrong though. I recall Greg Strong being sent off in Paisley and saying the ref did not tell him why.
  12. Can a referee ignore VAR advice when making a decision?
  13. In Sol's defence (sorry for the pun) he's played a lot of football in the past year and probably needs a rest. Ojala is very injury prone which is why we could attract his signature.
  14. As OTF hints, I doubt if money will be an issue for Dundee, although it should be.
  15. Physical contact with an opponent aside Ropy, I've seen numerous attackers run into the net to retrieve the ball over the years and not one has been yellow carded. Stryjek was at it plain and simple and in my view KVV had every right to try to collect the ball but not to make physical contact with Stryjek. That was silly. It was very pleasing though to know that the keeper's blatant play acting and timewasting directly led to his own team's downfall.
  16. Its been a strange season and even with 5 games to go I don't know what to make of it. A poor (but maybe experimental) league cup campaign; a great first half to the league season; a terrible second half to it so far; a quarter final exit in the Scottish Cup; a top 6 finish; and not playing attractive football. A real mixed bag. Statistically, a successful season in my book and the club will benefit financially. All this set in the context of a Covid pandemic and all the consequences that has brought for football. GA was on the point of losing my support but he has redeeemed things somewhat in the last fortnight. His team seelction and tactics have been unfathomable at times and style of play unattractive. However I remember Tommy MacLean's early teams and those of Jim MacLean at Tannadice so they set things in context. My expectations for entertainment are fairly modest compared to many I suppose. We have some contunuity now and that will help going forward. My hope is that GA works in the coming months to fine tune the squad - get rid of non performers and stiffen the defence (a priority in my view). We have the basis of a good midfield but the attack needs some work. I also hope that he brings a slightly more attractive style of play to the club. His relationship and communication with the fans needs a bit of work. All told though, he's done the business on the field.
  17. Great result but not performance yesterday. At this stage of the season its results that count. I didn't make the game but have seen highlights and spoken to those who were there. Ordinarily I'd feel sorry for our opponents in such circumstances but not yesterday. PPV prices were way over the top at £20; in short a complete rip off. David Martindale's pre match comments also riled me but of course his intention was to unsettle our team. The antics of Max Stryjek were worthy of a thespian and in the end they came back to haunt him and his team mates. The football may not have been great quality but the team showed commitment and determination. Pleased for the fans who made the trip to be able to enjoy the end of game celebrations.
  18. I'm not expecting a classic today, especially on that pitch. Livingston may well have the bulk of possession and they'll be taking route 1. These 2 factors may well shape GA's starting line up. Like Welldaft Mk1, defence is my biggest concern and I think its highly unlikley that we'll stop them from scoring. We'll just have to score more.
  19. If McGinley had made the same mistake as SOD did for the first goal then he would have been crucified on here.
  20. I'm with you on that Iain. Slack defending could have cost us more goals. I didn't think either full back played well and Saints caused us problems down the wings with fast breaks. I thought midfield was far better today and in my view it is the strongest we could pick, albeit we've yet to fit in Tierney (maybe next season). The best balanced too. Great too to see young Dean Cornelius score a classy goal - he's coming on nicely. Up front I thought that Shields and Van Veen did well but not so much Efford. Saints second goal should have been chalked off - at the corner kick, the ball was well outside the arc, when taken. Power was also very fortunate to remain on the park as he made a second nasty tackle after having been carded. Luck wise, Saints were fortunate, whilst our run of bad luck continues. A reasonable performance attacking wise with some half decent football on dispaly but oh dear ...our defending. Just watched the highlights of the St Johnstone v Livingston game and noticed that Penrice was only booked for a shin high, studs showing tackle - compare that to Mugabi's red card tackle a few weeks ago. All in all a very valuable 3 points and an entertaining match, although some of our defending was cringeworthy.
  21. Agree with much of your post but the Buddies also enjoyed some good luck. We also rattled woodwork and how Power escaped a second yellow card I'll never know.
  22. We've been on the wrong end of a few bad awards ourselves this season.
