  1. Dundee United are doing this. No surprise there then.
  2. I've watched this time and again over the years and Clark clearly intended to batter Maxi as he turned around to protect himself just before he slammed into him. A clear foul. Did he intend to very seriously injure him? I doubt it.
  3. Yes, I think thats Bertie Black. Could be either George Murray or Charlie Aitken but I'd plump for the former.
  4. According to the BBC we are continuing to scout players for next season and are speaking to a few about pre contract agreements.

I'll be renewing but can understand if others are not in a position to do so yet.
  6. The Society has now reached the 3,000 member mark. Well done to all concerned.
  7. I'd steer well clear of this approach. We're fine as we are thanks. Our club mustn't go down the same route as the likes of Dundee have done.
  8. Amidst all the bad news there is some good. Well done.
  9. The Society has been very quiet of late with little or no communication. Is that because Craig Hughes has been off ill for some time?
  10. Spot on Allan. Introducing the ban as from tonight was never a possibility for this very reason. Still, anyone missing their football fix can always travel south now to take in English games instead.
  11. A great bit of news. Credit to the club and the lad himself. Hopefully now he can concentrate on getting fully match fit and back to his best.
  12. Not disagreeing with you, but how would you define a lowball offer? I'd say less than £900k up front, but thats debatable.
  13. The authorities have asked every Scots club to check that their insurance policies cover having to play games behind closed doors, so that is an option should the situation develop further. However the experts doubt as to whether cancelling outdoor events is effective. Game should go ahead and hopefully our best team turns up for what will be a tough, hard clash.
  14. I wrote, in my original post " We have the core of a good side but the fringe players haven't been of the quality we'd want." I've lifted below 2 of Robbo's very recent quotes (courtesy of Captain Oats of P & B). "Ultimately I've used the same players over and over again because they've been better than the other boys. Simple as that." & "I've used the same 12, 13 players over and over again because they're the boys that I've trusted." Now whilst you might think that its stating the obvious, it does imply that he's not entirely happy with his fringe players. All managers get some transfers right and some wrong thats part and parcel of the job. We do have some very good players in the squad eg Gillespie, Gallagher, Campbell, Polworth, Turnbull etc. but irrespctive of where we are in the league (3rd is very acceptable indeed and well above our historic average) there should always be room for improvement.
  15. Absolutely OTF. If it's not broken don't fix it.
  16. Harry Robinson signed on a short term deal.
  17. So, in the interests of discussion, what specific points of my post do you disagree with?
  18. We have the core of a good side but the fringe players haven't been of the quality we'd want. We should be motre than ok for a goalie with Carson re-signing, and perhaps Ferguson as back up, if he re-signs. Struggling at full back. Grimshaw is the best we have although weak defensively and I'm still not sure about Carroll. Tait is not the player he was and I'd be surprised if he's offered a new deal. We're also struggling in the middle. Gallagher is the standout but he may move on but other than him??? I'd move on Hartley and Mugabi (if possible) and given Dunne's injury record he may also be surplus to requirements. Midfield shouldn't be too bad with Polworth and Campbell and O'Hara would be a good addition ...if we can afford him. Struggling a wee bit on the wings. Up front, I'm not sure that the initially impressive Watt will stay and Long will surely attract a richer club. So another complete revamp is on the cards. I suspect we'll try to sign a traditional/physical No 9. So, another rebuild on the cards but hopefully a little bit more cash for Robbo to play with.
  19. Absolutely. Had Hylton not dived and been on his way down he would have given it. Goalie was very lucky indeed.
  20. You're not the only person to have said that. Watched the TV highlights and agree with Robbo's comments about Hylton's penalty claim. Keeper definitely catches his trailing leg but probably no penalty given because he was already on his way down. Correct decision would have been to yellow card him and award a penalty. Similar to Richard Tait's penalty claim at Easter Road a year or two back.
  21. He'll get his move in the summer whether he signs a new deal or not. The only benefit to him of not signing a new deal will be that he'll possibly have a wider choice of potential suitors. The additional money he'd earn from a new contract from now until the summer, whilst a fortune to ordinary folk will be chickfeed to him. On balance though why wouldn't he sign an extended deal?
  22. We'll see. The BBC may not want to show it or indeed highlight it. If it is included in the highlights that could be interesting and depending on what took place the Compliance Officer's staff may pick up on it.
  23. Absolutely. A very good point in a difficult, difficult game. Given the way our defence plays its a good result. Other scores went our way too, so top 6 is now confirmed YYAASS! Although Campbell was injured (hopefully not seriously) another positive is that DT got even more game time.
  24. We'll play 4 or 5 in the middle of the park as usual. Playing only 3 or even 4 there risks being overwhelmed. Again we'll need to bottle up our wings.
