No, I've been doing it for some time. When he first came I said he was lightweight and so he is. Yes, he can be overelaborate as he was yesterday but so were several others and he can be selfish. However, he has constantly been played out of position - he is a left winger so we should play him there. Let him provide ammunition from the left for two out and out strikers - thats his preferred role. Mark Fitzpatrick - a good honest squad player but no more. Allow to leave if we have someone else to come in. Nick Blackman - hard to judge. He's been given little or no support and I'd like to see him given that. Needs to improve his attitude though. If he leaves, we need to replace him. We don't want too many departures/arrivals before next Sunday.

A few of us will be travelling from Fife. Wouldn't miss Scottish Cup day. Remember that MFC will share in the gate money.

I don't know what has gone wrong in the past few months, but the team seems to have lost any stomach it had for a fight. Stuart McCall is going to have to wield the big stick in the short term and possibly the surgeon's scalpel in the medium/long term. Certainly some fine tuning of formations and personnel might make some difference.
-
My take on it exactly. The line up and tactics were pretty much the same as they have been for weeks now. The midfield and striking formations simply don't work and I hope Stuart McCall picks up on this quickly.

Blackman has talent but his mind seemed to be elsewhere at NDP. He also struggles to make an impact against big physical opponents and his work rate could be higher. You pays your money you takes your choices.

Its hard to know where to begin. Credit where its due Accies worked their socks off and closed us down quickly all over the pitch. Disappointingly we could never match their determination or work rate. Part of our problem, as it has been for some time now, is that the team is unbalanced. Its too lightweight and we can't afford to play 3 wingers and only one striker. Jamie Murphy is not suited to playing on the left and Alan Gow is never a centre forward. Despite having a fair bit of pressure, we never really looked dangerous. All too often our lads chose the wrong option and couldn't play one the touch football that would have ripped Accies open. Our central midfield was slow and lightweight and didn't create anything or protect the defence. In the second half Lasley and Hately simply disappeared. To anyone who wasn't there today, don't let the clean sheet fool you. Our defence was dire and only Accies' poor finishing prevented a hefty defeat. Sloppy, casual, and lightweight are all words that come to mind. Its hard to fathom out why the same bunch of players were doing so well a few months ago. One or two lads today looked as though they'd rather be somewhere else and maybe they will be before the end of the month. Stuart McCall has a big job on his hands to motivate and fire up this squad and thats before we start talking about actual performance. Something off the park just doesn't seem right. The only posiitve I took from today was the hope that our new manager decided not to change anything too quickly and just let the same players play in their usual style. That will have to change and quick.

If we play as we have done recently, we'll stand little chance. The current squad is not cut out for cup competitions, despite reaching the CIS semis. Make no mistake Dundee will be up for this one and will fancy their chances.

Has it occurred to anyone that this appointment was made on purpose to prove a point? Now as far as I know, referee's names are not randomly pulled out of a hat or drawn from a glass bowl. Someone makes a conscious decision to allocate them to speccific games. Is it conceivable the person responsible wouldn't have known about his involvement & controversy in our recent game? It could just be sheer coincidence of course, but thats unlikely. One things for sure it wouldn't have happended if one half of the OF had been involved.

So as a general rule the bookmaking industry deems it impossible for some party to honestly open up an online account, place a bet which wins and then decides to close that account? Such an occurrence would simply be unknown? How odd.
-
Good for the club - the right decision, given that he's innocent until proven guilty.

Well done Flow. Running exceptionally quickly for me this morning.

Not a "great choice" but a bit more positive than "indifferent".

Unable to access the site for most of the day - probably due to it being a big news day.

In his Sky interview Stuart McCall made sp[ecific mention of the importance of Saturday's derby. Very early doors but a promising start
-
That sums it up well for me. Now it may be that most of the team is suffering from some kind of flu bug and if thats the case, I'll apologise in advance. However the experienced players must shoulder a lot of responsibility. When we needed it most they failed to show the younger lads any encouragement or leadershp or direction. We shouldn't forget that lads like Saunders and Hateley are still young. That for me is the first problem the new manager will have to address.
-
A good start would be to match Accies for determination and aggression and thats something we haven't done for quite some time. Is it beyond us?
-
Not my choice by any stretch of the imagination but he'll have my support. Ticks a few boxes but his less than impressive track record lets him down as a few have said. Some reaction on here has been OTT but its not an ideal situation for any new manager to be in with a split support. He's got a job on his hands to win many fans over. A good win on Saturday would be a start to winning over hearts and minds. Still JB has a good recent record for selecting managers.
-
A bit unfair. The guy deserves a chance which he hasn't been given so far. He's a lightweight winger (as many wingers are) end of, but has hardly played there. To play him as a lone target man is not fair on the player.

I can't give you precise dates but we were certainly known as the Dossers as far back as the 1920s - and I suspect before that too. Its likley that the term predates "Steelmen".
-
The problem is that even lower league English clubs will be able to pay their managers way above even what teams like Aberdeen and Hearts can pay. George Burley? His stock fell badly after his stint at Hampden and in Southampton. Thi is all just speculation and we don't know exactly what the club is up to - the way it should be. Still it makes life interesting!
-
Can't say Stuart McCall inspires me at all. Certainly he has English lower league knowledge but thats about it. His track record at Bradford is nothing to write home about and there's no evidence he can cut it as a manager. All just rumour of course at the moment.
-
Seconded. JG had his strengths but also his weaknesses. The fact of the matter was that he wanted to leave some months before he actually departed and had been showing an interest in other jobs shall we say. Many said he was working his ticket. More to it than that of course but that'll do.

Flow Can I ask that you include details of the Fife & Tayside Supporters Club in the appropriate section. Cheers.

I'm too young to have been there, but my late father used to tell a story about a banner that the then Flemington Branch made up for the game. Dundee's great star at the time was Billy Steel and what he was going to do to us was nobody's business. The banner read "We're not afraid of Steel - we've been handling it all our lives". And we weren't and we did.

But apart from taking Ross County to the Cup Final what else has he done? Gordon Chisholm has a similar record but he's no longer mentioned.
