Does that mean then, that McGinn, who has just signed a 2 year deal too, gets bumped?

Thats it in a nutshell. Good post. The football world moves on but we don't.

The cause of uncertainty on your part is down to my use of loose terminology, for which I apologise. I agree 100% about not living beyond our means. The status quo, if you like, is not radically increasing our expenditure AND income (it must be in balance of course). Football is a cutthroat, competitive business and our ability to finish 10th in the league, is not just dependent on what we do but is also dependent on what our close rivals do. If they increase their spending, recklessly or otherwise, then that makes it harder for us to finish 10th, or stand still if you like. More clubs of a similar size to us are spending more cash, whether they have it or not. We're starting to see other clubs up their spending too eg Raith Rovers. Clubs like Dunfermline and Falkirk will also be looking on closely. So, in short, if we want to spend more, just to stand still (mid table football is probably the best we can aspire to as StAndrew7 rightly points out) then we have to increase our income or investment, but only in a prudent manner. Basically, what Jim McMahon and Derek Weir have said. My understanding is that the external investment proposal is not "transformational" so lets put that to bed. In that regard, I'm not writing off the "volunteers" of the Society Board until I see what they can conjure up in terms of their proposal. In short, to me the status quo is doing nothing diferent to what we're doing at the moment i.e. using the same model and not seeking to increase "investment" in the club. . I hope that answers your question.

As mentioned on P&B it's a good draw from a football perspective starting with possibly our easiest game. Not so good from a fans' view as it is midweek. I've been lucky enough to visit Links Park once in 1968-69 and intend to visit it again in July. I really hope as many of our supporters can do so too, as I know many are desperate to make the journey.

Is Partick's away game at Fir Park being televised?
-
No surprise that we've signed Nicholson permanently. As Bobbybingo says it'll be interesting what a good pre-season does for him. He sems to have a bit of skill and knows where the goals are. Quite happy with this news. I still think we need an out and out defensive midfielder though.

Maybe I've missed something but I'm unsure what we, as fans, Society members or shareholders, are going to get. I appreciate that these groups are not mutually exclusive and these groups will be consulted with in slightly different ways. However, I fall into all 3 categories, as will many of you. Are we going to receive the Society's proposal, irrespective of whether or not the external proposal is finalised? One thing is for sure, the status quo is now no longer an option. Maybe its just me, but I now detect a very slight shifting of opinion away from the "we might just have to accept our lot and we end up where we end up in the leagues" view.

I don't know about this particular case, but if we don't attract some additional investment from some source then this will become increasingly common. The likes of Ross County and St Johnstone and maybe even Dunfermline and Falkirk will be pipping us to signing targets.

No doubt some behind the scenes negotiaions took place about the option. Having said that, we've been short on the coaching side for a while now so there would have been a vacancy. He seems a decent sort, so good luck to him.
-
It will be very interesting and telling when we discover where he ends up. He might just have a very "proactive" agent. Raith's playing budget has been hiked and some in Fife say they are copying the Falkirk of all those years ago. Time will tell.
-
Absolutely. The window isn't even open yet, but we do need some additions fairly quickly, given our lack of numbers. Hopefully too the future of of our ooc players will be settled soon. We don't want that dragging on ad nauseum. Set a reasonable deadline and stick to it.

What goes around comes around in Livingston's case. Hopefully we'll have some news on Saturday, after many contracts expire.
-
As anticipated on this board some months ago. Could Killie not have waited another 48 hours to announce this? He is a signed Livingston player until midnight tomorrow.
-
There's still no word of the mysteriously missing Jon Obika. I've checked the Official website daily for updates or corrections but, nothing. If its an error of omission no-one has bothered to rectify it. If it isn't that then why is it so mysterious?

Partick will be playing us at Fir Park.
-
Given that Partick will be playing a Premiership team, namely us, there must be a good chance that the game will be televised.
-
Reece McAlear signs a PCA with Livingston.
-
Yes there have indeed been rumours. Did the SPFL ask for guarantees before including them in the draw?
-
It was odds on we'd draw either Raith or Partick but at least its at home. At least we didn't draw Annan, Morton or QoS. Sadly we missed out on a trip to stimulate the ground collectors. A trip to the likes of Brechin, Bonnyrigg, East Kilbride, Peterhead, Buckie, or Kelty would have been nice.
-
I've always loved that term. Far better than Indonesia.
-
Seeding for the last 16 hasn't really worked for us. Hopefully we'll avoid Morton, QOS and Annan.
-
I'd say that midfield is an area we badly need to bolster. In addition to replacing Spittal we also require a physical defensive type to shield the defence. The absence of just such a player was one of the reasons we conceded so many last season.

Jamaica? No, she went of her own accord.
-
Both. Seems to be some substance to it, but it is a rumour.

Dylan Easton rumours discussed and largely confirmed on Raith P & B thread. You'd imagine PCAs will start to be confirmed after the end of the month. Transfer window opens on 14 June.
