  1. Sounds about right to me, again without checking. Don't forget Andy Lynch day, what a laugh that was.
  2. I remember a cup win in about 1975, I'd have to go searching for an exact date. We were 0 - 2 down at half time and won 3 - 2, Pettigrew scored twice, can't remember who scored the other, Vic Davidson possibly. That was a great day, greater team. Skippy Sunday could have been better if he had squared the ball to Gerry Britton, I would have loved to have seen the look on his face if he had a tap in against his beloved Celtic. (I suspect it would have hit the corner flag though)
  3. Went with the obvious, KVV. Spittal and Johnston also had great games and Kelly looked more like the keeper we had last season.
  4. We battered them – battered them. We were a class above them.
  5. I always target 38 points before I can relax and think about how high we can finish and not how low, and in the last 15 or so years, only twice has the team finishing 11th exceeded that total, I suspect this season won't buck that trend, so 38 points should be plenty. 11 games to go, 11 points required, I think ( and hope ) that we will manage that.
  6. And no one has even mentioned Willie Watson yet.
  7. I'd imagine they took about 4 seconds to deny it. The real question is why the ref only gave a yellow card to begin with.
  8. Probably not, and definitely not a Scottish referee. 😁
  9. I've no doubt that would have happened, and as I said, I was happy not to play against 10 men, but if the referee waits for a break in play to make a booking, eg, Van Veen's stupid hand ball, why is a goal different from a throw in?
  10. What a pleasant way to start a Sunday afternoon, thoroughly deserved three points. The BBC report, and a couple on here, have talked about Shankland hitting the post, it was actually a great save from Kelly and it, arguably, sent us on our way. Everyone contributed to that win and pretty much anyone could have been the man of the match. Having an organiser in Butcher allows us to look much more comfortable with and without the ball and at no point today was I tempted to start chewing my nails. If anything, I'm disappointed we didn't win by more. One final thought, I was surprised that their no. 3 wasn't even spoken to after the second goal, he had Dean in a bear hug then wrestled him to the ground in the 6 yard box before Spittal put the ball in the net. Given our record against ten men I'm happy nothing happened, and I'm also happy to admit that I don't know that specific rule, but I thought some sort of action would have been in order. Huge result though, 'mon the 'Well.
  11. Two games in a row we have been given a really hard decision to make. I went with Goss because he is now influencing games with a littlle bit of skill but is also working hard off the ball. Honourable mentions to Kelly, Butcher, Cornelius, Spittal & Obika. I could make a case for most of the team in all honesty.
  12. Confident as ever I see. Your invincible favourites (Hearts) won at Fir Park earlier this year in a game even their fud of a manager said they were lucky to win, and beat us courtesy of a late penalty at Tynecastle. Both games against a Motherwell team that was really struggling. You may be right that we will lose, but I hope to F@#k that the players don't share your opinion of the jambos. If we get the effort and commitment we saw last night, we can hopefully get up their noses and take something from this one.
  13. I went with the much maligned Blair Spittal, nice to have a few options for a change.
  14. Alan Sneddon playing for Linlithgow tonight, must be a fair age now.
  15. I know what you mean, but it is Aberdeen, managed by Jim Goodwin, I'm going to snigger for a while.
  16. For what it is worth: Kelly: Nothing much to do, caught a 20 yarder which was straight at him and was fouled (possibly) at a cross which he dropped. Johnston: Composed under pressure, made some good forward runs and linked well with the the forward players. Caught out of position a couple of times, but all in all a good solid performance. Blaney: My MOM, won a lot in the air, comfortable with the ball at his feet and seems like a good communicator. Early days and against lower league opponents, but an impressive start. Lamie: A man totally devoid of confidence. McGinn: Got forward very when the opportunity arose and was generally solid playing on the wrong side. Was tending to drift inside towards his natural position as the game wore on though. Slattery: Made himself available to the defence, but didn't do much when he got the ball, should do better. Goss: One of his poorer performances. Spittal: Worked hard and at least tries to play head up football. Unfortunately his main failings are pace and stamina but at least he doesn't hide. Mandron: Took a short time to adjust to the pace of the game and the pitch. Did well enough though, some nice touches and linked up well. Plus two goals, the first one was virtually unmissable but he was in the right position. Seems a good addition so far. Crankshaw: Looked ok on the right, but fell out of the game when he switched wings. Judgement reserved. McKinstry: Looking better every week. Very unselfish at the opener and should have got on the score sheet in the second half. Subs: KVV: Nice back heel in the build up to the second goal, stupid booking. He is what he is. Cornelius: Did what he does, works hard and tries to get forward. Deserving of more game time IMHO. Shields: Not on long enough to contribute. All in all, better than I expected but we could have made it more comfortable if we had taken at least one of the chances earlier in the second half. Arbroath never really threatened but a clean sheet will hopefully give us some confidence. Goss
  17. Just back from a decent day out. Blaney for me, an impressive debut. Mandron did well in parts as did McKinstry and McGinn.
  18. That's exactly my position, the constant negativity from certain posters just wear you down. I'm more apathetic about our fans than I am about the team. Oh, and I'm going to Arbroath and this is my first post in this thread.
  19. You and I are obviously of a similar vintage. I would add T.C. (M'Lord) to your list of players I have seen personally. Cooper, Coyne & Graham all came to the club as established players, and without discounting their abilities, we didn't see the best of them at Fir Park. McFadden moved on before we saw the best of him but 48 caps and 16 goals in a pretty poor Scotland set up (with managers like Levein ) puts him right up there. Willie P also moved on, watching him in a Heart's strip was heart-breaking. So for me it would be Joe Wark, it still annoys me that he didn't get the international recognition he deserved. That all said, I can't offer an opinion on those I didn't see personally thus making this an impossible debate, an interesting one though.
  20. Tough call, no great failures and no real stand outs. Went with Slattery for pushing Shields out the road to get to the ball for his goal.
  21. No twitter links at the bottom, that will put Elon Musk in his place. 😁
  22. I remember him scoring the only goal in a 1-0 at Parkhead at new year circa 1978, my brother and I hadn't been at Parkhead before and ended up at the wrong end in amongst several thousand drunk twats, not easy trying not to laugh too hard for a full hour. Also featured prominently in a 5-4 win over Killie at Fir Park, one of my favourite all time 'Well games. Great wee player, RIP Jim.
  23. I agree wholeheartedly, I don't see it ever happening unfortunately. If it did though, the one proviso I would have is that they go completely, they would probably want their B-teams to play in Scotland as a safety net and our organising authorities (and probably the club boards) would bend over to accommodate them.
