this should be vs a NI select
It should be against whoever Craigan chooses, and he's decided to go with Thistle.

With us having secured the services of Higdon, Law & Devlin, along with resigning Craigan & hopefully Jennings to new deals I have to say that I'm impressed by McCalls moves thus far.
I feared that we would have lost more than just Sutton by this point.
-
No one is forcing you to go. The match is about Craigan, not some chance to see some club from whereever who's fans have no idea who Craigan is.
At least Thistle mean something to Craigan and his career as a footballer!
Exactly.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing a testimonial that would appear to be about more than just being a moneyspinner.
I'm sure he could have chosen a bigger side to play against than Thistle, but obviously chose them for a reason.
I know personally that if I had played for two clubs in my sixteen year career, I'd jump at the chance of having both of them, and their supporters, play a part in my testimonial.
A classy move by Craigan, and I'm sure it'll be a night to remember.

I'll be there, especially if we manage to sort out a few new signings before the game takes place.
-
Isn't that what the Supporters Advisory Committee is for?
The Trust is completely independent of the club, which is always important.

FFS steelboy and Al B can you take it elsewhere, trying to see if there are any updates about anyone is signing for the club and its you two bitch slapping each other, take it to compost corner and keep this thread for what its for
Fair point, let's keep it to on-topic chit-chat lads.

Am I the only one that wouldn't dream about pishing away £300+ on some sort of 'feel good' trip?
What you do with your own money is entirely up to you of course, but if someone decides that £300 (or more) is worth paying for a say, no matter how small, in the running of their club then that's their choice.
Also, knowing that your money is being put away to help maintain the financial stability of the club is more than just a "feel good" trip in my book.
I like the look of the idea, and look forward to hearing the final details as they become available.
-
I'll be there if I have the cash & the price of the tickets is reasonable.
Unlike a lot of folk on here, I don't really watch any other football outside of Scotland & Motherwell. I don't even subscribe to Sky Sports.
Saying that, if a particularly tasty game in the Champions league is on council telly I'll usually give it a watch.

We can all surely look forward to Broon's pals in the media giving him YET ANOTHER easy ride over this, despite the facts!
-
you do realise you have the unofficial champions of europe coming to town.
So, when we win will that make us the unofficial champions of Europe?
-
Hopefully it will be soon though, as that's a cracker of a game to have on our pre-season calendar.
-
As far as Porter goes, it's perhaps unlikely that he wouldn't come back to us but it's not completely out of the question I think.
If he has no club at present, he may think of Motherwell as an opportunity to put himself back on the map. He's already played here so he knows what the script is.
-
It appears that if Jennings does leave he'll head back down south, which is fair enough I guess.
I don't think I could have lived with him ending up at Aber-fucking-deen.
-
It's clear to see that Hughes would be a very polarizing signing for the club if the reaction on here is anything to go by.
-
Eremenko did say he was desperate to stay in scotland and wanted either of the old firm to buy him
I would think he has more prospect of actually playing at Rangers. Celtics midfield is pretty packed already.
Wouldn't mind seeing us going for McCourt if he was avilable on loan! The chant is already there for the taking of "Paddy McCourts steelmen army"
-
My only issue is that he's no better that Sutton and I always think players we sign should be better than the player they replace, mind you Motherwell can't afford to do that all the time (we just have to develop them ourselves)
I agree that we should replace players that we choose to move on with someone better, but Sutton left because he was offered a better deal by a bigger club, so I don't think it applies here.
Higdon is exactly the kind of striker that we need. Hopefully he can do a job for us next season.
-
Good point.
Let's keep the chat to Motherwell and the cup final from here on lads. If anyone wants to continue the current discussion feel free to move it to the off-topic section.
Cheers.

Glad to see Hutchinson sign on again with the club. He's obviously impressed with the plans McCall has for taking the club forward.
I don't take any account of anything you write on here since reading your drivel around the time of the Celtic Remembrance Day protest.

"Why Aye Man"
Expect a contract extension for an integral member of our defence .... announcement in about 20 mins.
Leaking out info before the official site makes the announcement?
Have you never read Spider-Man? "With great power comes great responsibility"
-
A replacement for Randolph? Where's he going like?
The last time I checked he was barely a year into a three year contract. I think your being a bit premature with that kind of chat.
-
A wee pre-season local tournament would be good. Not sure there's enough time now right enough, we only have something like 6 or 7 weeks between seasons.
-
With the announcement of our first pre-season game I figured I'd throw up a thread for those of us desperate enough to want to discuss our games against lower league opposition this summer.
Thus far, we have games with the following sides confirmed;
Dumbarton (away) - July 9th
One of Motherwell’s first pre-season games of the 2011/2012 season will be at Dumbarton’s Strathclyde Homes Stadium. The game, arranged as part of the deal that will see young Nicky Devlin join up at Fir Park for next season, will take place on Saturday July 9th.
A combination of first-team players and U19 prospects will play in the match with former Sons loans Ross Forbes and Jordan Halsman likely to feature.
Further information on kick-off times and ticketing arrangements will be confirmed soon.
I know it's pretty sad, but I'm actually looking forward to going to the game. I miss football already
-
Surprised we are not trying to keep Ross or Jeffers.
I would have loved to seen Jeffers after pre season training.
guess McCall has a few players up his sleeve, he has done ok so far.
I'm guessing that a deal would have been struck with Jeffers if he wanted to hang around?

I have no idea why the board would be for a 10 team league.
It would appear they were represented at a meeting of clubs that voted unanimously in favour of a 14, so I gather that they aren't in favour of a 10.

Has anyone heard from him or his family? Maybe he's not keen on life down south?
He could do worse than come back to Motherwell.
