  1. We're currently 6 points clear of 11th, and 7 points clear of 12th. Our next six games are against Aberdeen and Celtic at home, and Livingston, St Johnstone, Hearts and Celtic away. St Mirren's next six games are against Hearts, Aberdeen, and Hamilton at home, and Hibs, Livingston and us away. Dundee have got Accies and Rangers at home, and Hibs, Killie, Aberdeen and Celtic away. All ifs, buts and maybe's, but if we're honest we could just as easily end up three or four points off St Mirren in 11th as we could pull away from them. I personally wouldn't risk binning the manager and bringing someone new in to develop the kids when the threat of relegation is still very much a possibility. Sacking a manager mid-season is a last resort.
  2. I don't think anyone is assuming anything, but many of us believe there's a better chance of survival under Robinson, despite the football being turgid and not all that effective against sides in the top six, than there is of removing him and bringing in someone entirely new midway through the season. Personally, I think it's probably time for a change in the summer, when a new man can come in and bring in some of his own players and get the time to bed into the job.
  3. It has nothing to do with last season at all, and everything to do with getting to the end of this season with our Premiership status intact. If and when we do that then we can look at Robinson's record and decide where to go next. But what would sacking him mid-season accomplish? Very little. But it could result in disruption and a tailspin. Under him this season we look like we'll do enough to stay up.
  4. I agree entirely with everything you've said, but for me his job shouldn't be under threat mid-season unless we're in serious danger of going down. Come the summer it's a different kettle of fish though, where he should be judged on a whole manner of things, including performance, results, transfer dealings etc. But barring the potential disaster of relegation I don't support binning a manager mid-season.
  5. I see no need to push the panic button this season unless we drop into the relegation spots. If we avoid that we can assess at the end of the season.
  6. This season we've seen Rangers put five past St Johnstone, and four past Accies as well. St Johnstone then went on to ship six against Celtic a few weeks later. It happens. Personally, I'd have been more concerned had we lost either game against St Mirren or Dundee by a solitary goal than a drubbing by Rangers or Celtic.
  7. I know some may say it's not the game for doing so, but I'd love to see a change of personnel up front. I don't think the Main/Bowman partnership is working.
  8. If Robinson does go we'll more than likely be linked with the usual suspects, won't we? It'll be talk of Van Der Gaag, Valakari, with Nijholt getting the odd mention. And no doubt Edgar Davids will have his CV on Flow's desk before Robinson has even cleared out his office and said his goodbye's.
  9. Any word on who's going to be there?
  10. Oh absolutely, I can understand why he doesn't make the step up, but as a fan I'd love to see it. Don't give up the day job quite yet.
  11. Bigi for me. Looked like the only player in a claret and amber shirt who actually wanted to play football.
  12. If only the manager of this well-performing youth side would entertain making the step up to the first team. That's what's frustrated me over the past few years. And yeah, I know he enjoys his BT gig and all that jazz, but still, he's looking like someone who could step up and do a job in the senior game.
  13. Bigi looked like the most accomplished player on the park, and considering the money spent by Rangers on players, that's a noteworthy accomplishment.
  14. Storybook ending for the big man. Nose surrender!
  15. Going on our form so far we should probably lose this one pretty handily, but I'd not be surprised at all if we are on here after the game talking about how the point we got from the game is more two points lost than one gained.
  16. Those calling for the managers heads should be fully aware that we don't have a reactionary leadership at this club, he'll be given until the end of October at least unless we do something mental like not winning a single game over the next five to seven ties.
  17. Another bad day at the office, and while it's certainly cause for concern it's not the end of the world as some would have us believe. I'm actually surprised half the posts on here don't contain more errors, as it must be difficult to type with your knees jerking all over the shop. First of all, we were shite. I'm not defending the team or the manager at all. This is the part where Robinson either proves his managerial acumen by changing things up and giving the opposition something different to think about, or he continues as he is and ultimately fails. Time will tell in that regard. Personally, he's got until about the end of October to get things in order. If we're still sitting in a relegation spot then serious questions will have to be asked, especially if we're still playing as we are. I also think people need to get a grip with the Bigi chat. No one claimed he was the fucking messiah, what I saw people saying was "he likes to play football on the deck, why not play him in an attempt to change things up a bit?" That doesn't mean he comes into a poor side, plays equally as poor as the rest of the team in a poor game against Accies and should be shot down as rubbish and dismissed. How many games has he played this season? Do you think he's match fit? If Robinson decides to try and implement a Plan B then there's a good chance that Bigi should be a part of that. Not the central piece, not the fucking messiah, just a part of it. He offers something different in the middle of the park, simple as that. Dundee is looking like a crucial game for us, surrounded as it is by games against Rangers, Hearts, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock. Assuming we get nothing from the other games (which, if I'm honest, is a long shot, as we always fear these games then somehow spring a win against one of these sides) then the Dundee game is critical. We need to win that one. October will be important. With home games against Livingston and St Johnstone, and away games with St Mirren and Celtic, if we come out of October in the relegation zone then it could be time to make some changes at managerial level.
  18. Truth is, none of us really know much about these new signings, same as we didn't know much about the new signings last year, or the year before. Give it a month or two and then we'll know a bit more.
  19. I'm just thoroughly disappointed and appalled that an admin is taking part in these shenanigans.
  20. An agents fee is his own business, no one else's. He's paid what the club and/or player agrees to pay him.
  21. I don't necessarily think it's anything to do with the youth setup, it's just that the current bunch of kids we have at the moment either aren't quite ready for first-team football or they're not good enough. No youth setup on the planet consistently churns out top-class talent, we're even seeing Barcelona's famed La Masia go through a bit of a dry spell. At the moment we have Barry McGuire, Chris Cadden & Allan Campbell either in the team or on the fringes and probably some other names that I'm forgetting, so it's not too bad. As the old saying goes, if they're good enough they'll play.
  22. Agreed. A luxury we can't really afford in my opinion. He'll likely be on his travels again by January after getting sent off and gaining 25lbs.
  23. Thing for me as far as Ciftci goes is that his last show of being anything close to a decent football was three years ago, and since then he's been at five clubs in three years. Among his highlights over those years has been involvement in a mass brawl, and criticism in the media and from management about his fitness and application. He's scored 11 goals in 50 games over those three years. I know some see him as being worth a punt, but I just don't think he has the attitude and application to get back to where he was three years ago, let alone fit in with a team that has one of the highest work ethics in the league.
  24. Anyone able to maybe snap a few photos if they're out and about this week? Would be cool to see what it all looks like.
  25. That's why your average fan (young people or those who play sports aside) should do what I do, and just buy a nice club polo shirt and accept that fact that the days of fitting into something like the modern football tops are long gone.
