Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson could force Motherwell to face his side on March 29, for a Scottish Cup replay – despite the fact Well will be without skipper Stephen Craigan and keeper Darren Randolph who are slated to appear on international duty. It is understood both side’s managers, Stuart McCall and Peter Houston, are amenable to a change of date as the game falls two days after Scotland play Brazil at the Emirates Stadium, with several United players in contention for a place in the squad. United gaffer Houston and Motherwell assistant Kenny Black will be away with Scotland as part of Craig Levein’s back-room staff. But tough-talking Thompson says he is not for changing the date of the Fir Park clash, despite Well ace Randolph being called up for the Republic of Ireland squad and team-mate Craigan on duty with Northern Ireland. The Tannadice supremo said: “Both clubs agreed to the replay date before the game on Sunday and knew the possibilities of players getting called-up. Motherwell should have known their captain could have been called up and not agreed the date. “I feel the SFA will ultimately have to decide what happens. If someone comes up with a solution we will look at it.”

United are playing Hearts on Wednesday so it looks like the replay wont be this week.

Its 30 years ago today that Ally Mcleod took his Motherwell side to Tanadice in the quarter final of the Scottish cup. Lets hope we do better on Sunday than we did that day we lost 6-1.

What is worrying isn't the defeats themselves ,Motherwell don't have any right to be beating Inverness or StMirren ,but its the manner of them. 90 mins and hardly a decent attempt on goal seems to becoming the rule rather than the exception in a lot of our games. A lots been made about our striking problems but the problem isn't so much missing chances its surly down to our inability to create goalscoring opportunities. The games in which we have played well recently Killie ,Aberdeen and Celtic were open games these teams didn't get everyone behind the ball and hit on the break they played football and in doing so allowed us to play. But with Hamilton ,St Mirren and to a certain extent Inverness yesterday it was more of a cautious approach getting men behind the ball stopping us playing and were clueless in that type of scenario ,totally devoid of ideas or a plan B.

An eye for what players, can guarantee he never saw Gunning before he signed ,and Jones and Jeffers have done nothing and will do nothing of note .And you dont get points for what you should have or could have done .And yes it was great to beat Celtic last week but that result is sandwiched between our two worst results of the season i.m.o 0-1 to st mirren and 3-0 to inverness today. Rant over .Most wont agree but that's my opinion for what its worth.

Hope it has something to do with his resignation.

Well that was more like it ,every player did there part today from Randy to Sutton be a positive forum tonight.

.Motherwell U19s were demolished 8-1 by Rangers at Murray Park this afternoon........just gettin a wee taste of what its like should they ever become first team players.

Whats the bettin for motherwell winning 1/2 time and full time . 1-0 half time 2-0 full time. Ye just know it.

They aint so thrilled when the old firm visit, the tendency then is to shit their pants and do nothing if there's an incident.

Everyone keeps talking about the players he will bring in during the summer ,lets just hope he has some cash to bring in these players . I genuinely worry about just where M.F.C and Scottish fitbaw in general are heading. Stuart McCall has a difficult job on his hands in many ways .

McCall is only here till the end of the season then hes away to Ibrox as Ally McCoist's assistant. The guy has stepped in to help when nobody wanted the job so cut him a bit of slack. .I know a lot will be thinking what a load of crap but wait and see .

I thought it was dire on Saturday that was worse ,we didn't have a player tonight .Utter shite, Ive went to the main stand for the last two games £44 quid .......worth the money?

Was impressed by Gunning on Saturday and Jeffers had a few nice touches ,but I haven't been overly impressed by Jones in the games Ive seen him play.

I went through to the livi game when we played them in the cup and t.b.h they were so much better than us in many ways.
