If they are derisory then its in terms of what footballers earn and what they individually have been earning. It can't and shouldn't be compared to a 'normal' salary otherwise. Also we should defintely only pay what we can afford but it does not mean it can't also be derisory. If Lasley and Hammell, for example? have been on 1200 a week and they get offered 600 to play and continue coaching then they may deem it derisory wether we can pay more or not. However, if a 'normal' person is on 200 a week and is offered 600 a week then it clearly isnt derisory. If I am on 80k year for example and someone offers me a new job using rhe same skillset for 40k it's derisory. But to someone else it clearly wouldn't be. Can't compare the two.

McManus signs 2 year deal. Others wont be but I am happy with that.

Sounds like we might see some big changes if all those in the know are right. I could live with losing Ainsworth and Law. Hammell I am 50/50 but that's because we have no one to step right in (I don't count Chalmers. Fear). Lasley I would like to see around for another year. McManus and McDonald I would really like to keep. For their faults we would be pressed to find others with similar experience who can play nearly every game in the season. For those with info how are the other contract offers looking?

Not a huge surprise. Ainsworth didn't really take his (small) chances when given them by McGhee after the Thistle game. If McGhee is t going to play him it's better use of a wage on someone else in the tight budget we have

As a selling club ouur best chance of real money is Moult, Johnson, Cadden or Thomas having a rip roaring start to the season and selling them at the end of August or January 2017. By the time we get to next summer they only have a year on their deal left. (which highlights the 2 years contract point in Cadden a case)

That's the way I see it. For me Ainsworth is tipping into the latter now.

I am a fan of Ainsworth but I think if we can get some return on him then we say thanks and make the deal happen. Thomas and maybe MacLean can be pushing for that backup winger role next year hopefully. I don't think Ainsworth is going to make it in a McGhee team and if we have the opportunity to sell him with a year to go we can hopefully get a small fee.

I dont think its a shite comp because we get knocked out every year. I never said the format was bad.....but I don't think there is anything wrong with changing it. The league cup just never has done anything for me at all. It's the runt of the 3 comps we play in, has no euro spot.... I just don't care much for it. The new format gets me in interested in it so wee bit so it's all good.

1 yr deals for Moore and Ferguson is exactly right in my eyes. The 2 of them are in the 'last chance' category rather than 'extremely promising and sellable' category such as Thomas, Cadden, Hall etc.

That's a fair point. Ruddy was sold for 450k after his season with us though so it can be done.
