  1. Aye, for the less stable members of the board he was a Paul Hegarty reincarnate
  2. On Robinson - seems a good extension to me and gives us that continuity as someone above mentioned. On Moore - Been out on loan, scored 11 in 21 starts (24 appearances) at League 1 level. Has done himself no harm in getting a contract extension on the face of it. I am sure if the management team think he is worth a new contract he will be. May be a choice between extending Moore or Fletcher perhaps as I cant see us extending both? With Moore being 21 and Fletcher 25 then Moore might edge it and get that chance. Be interesting to see what happens anyway.
  3. Good update on membership and progress etc. For those not on social media or haven't checked the site: http://www.thewellsociety.co.uk/2016/04/14/progress-march-2016-figures/
  4. 4th should be the target and team setup should reflect that. But it does not have to be one choice over the other. We can also introduce some young players and give them a bit more time than we have e.g. depending on the game give Thomas 30 mins, give MacLean 20mins, give Watt 20 mins etc. Better than a 2 min cameo and likely does not disrupt the game too much. We can balance both without chucking the chances of 4th away I think.
  5. Aye seems something else completely. The Sun print edition had more quotes from the what looks like the same interview where Mixu said he understood why he did what he did on the park more or less because he couldn't kick it out and didnt want to let the other team advance. Very odd.
  6. Mixu in the papers saying it wasn't just to do with the injury/picking up the ball thing either. The plot thickens. I liked Gunning when he was with us but seems to have lost his way a bit in regards fufilling his potential after injury down south.
  7. Played a fair bit last season. Not so much this season. Last 1st team game was in January.
  8. Correct! We seriously hamper the chances of being done over by former employees by re-signing them as well. Maybe that's the plan!
  9. The whole Gunning thing with Utd is bizarre!
  10. Wigan will be looking to play him or sell him I would think - with 1 year left on his deal come the summer.
  11. Hahaha. Very good point. My heads up my arse. Short notice for us then!
  12. Just noticed that ourselves, Ross County and St J all have 2 homes/3 away. So, no home/away advantage for those going for 4th.
  13. Quite short notice for that. Easier for Motherwell and fans, but Ross County fans and club would have to only now start planning the trip 4 days before hand. I, for one, have plans this weekend as it was going to be a blank league week.
  14. Personally quite pleased with them. Our homes games are Saturday at 3pm, we dont play St J or Ross County on the last day and the fact we play Celtic and are on the telly means I might get the chance to see it when I am in the USA on holiday (poor planning on my part, yes) If I was being picky I would have preferred Aberdeen and St J to be switched so I could make both games but then the SPFL did not speak to me before releasing the fixtures. Poor.
  15. I think in theory the tactic of keeping it fairly tight with the back 4 and defending within the 18 yard box is probably correct with the wingers tracking back wide. But there needs to be some better decision making inside the heads of the defenders at times if we are saying the reason Law and Hammell dont move out wide is because its tactical. For the first Celtic goal, Tierney was well inside the box when he crossed the ball. For me, a couple of things should/could have happened. 1. Johnson should have been more aware and possibly tracked Tierney from the edge of the 18 yard box in. Instead he was ball watching in the middle. 2. Law should have been more aware of the situation and taken a step wider earlier rather than being drawn into the middle ball watching also. He and Kennedy both move for the ball nearer the penalty spot when Johanssen has it before making the pass but are too far away to really do anything. Anyway, it's done now and I hope we learn from the mistake.....but given its been happening all season I wont hold my breath!
  16. Very good point! Forgetting the whole setup changed.
  17. I like the vision of a football player shooing another one. Haha.
  18. Pretty sure it wasnt just a one year deal thing. But Aberdeen did vote against the change to 11/1 voting.
  19. I think the answer is probably somewhere in the middle actually. Johnson should be keeping an eye on late runs in but was ball watching. Law was also ball watching but I think should have reacted much quicker as he was the one facing the right way to see the advancing Tierney. Instead they both get drawn in and don't mark anyone. Tierney didn't exactly make the run from his own 18 yard box...he was well up the park. Personally I think Law should have done better as he didn't have anyone to mark and had no reason to stay in so tight to the centre half.
  20. Moult and Cadden. Nae bother.
  21. Pretty sure we did lose out on prize money when we finished 2nd. Didn't alter the bonus structure so it was a double whammy. This was in the directors statement:There was an agreement to alter the distribution of the SPL's commercial pot that included a substantial reduction in the prize money allocated to the runner up position but the club's bonus deal with the football staff is not mirror that change.
  22. I think we need to be targeting 4th spot now. Well within our grasp and we shouldn't give the excuse of 'look where we were in January'. At the same time if we finish 6th it won't be a huge disappointment. Europe aside the extra money could do wonders I regards the Les/Well Society situation.
  23. It was more like the width of the 6 yard box for the goal. Pure pish.
