  1. VAR will still be run by the same incompetents we have now. It will be used to benefit the OF more. With 40k seething mutants screaming about every decision and demanding var, and the constant media pressure in the uglies favour, the VAR folk will go out of their way to appease the masses. It's not going to be the leveller some are hoping for. They'll have a work experience student looking at motherwell v livi games, since there's nothing at stake for them.
  2. That was the first clean sheet in a long time that actually felt deserved. Usually we rely on a save or two, and usually the opposition failing to take a chance, but other than the snap shot from Goncalves late on, they had nothing. We did a great job of not conceding silly fouls in our third, and we handled their physicality like it wasn't a thing.
  3. Difficult one. There were no standouts in an attacking sense. Our midfield 3 and back 4 were solid all game, and it was one of Sol's best games. I went with O'Donnell though. His forward runs and pressing really make a difference, and he didn't put a foot wrong defensively.
  4. Based on recent experience, now that we're in third every other team will conspire to keep us there.
  5. Pretty flat from both teams. Battle of the half time team talks now.
  6. As marginally better as lamie is over mugabi and sol, I don't think he should walk right back into the team considering he nearly sold the jerseys with the tackle that led to the suspension. I'd prob go with the team that started last week, as I don't think anyone made a case for being dropped.
  7. Allan looks to have played 2 full seasons in about 12 years, one of which was in the championship. I think he benefits from having friends in the media, because the hype around him is unwarranted.
  8. It didn't seem to be that bad before, either it's a symptom of long COVID, or maybe my old Twitter account had the right level of mute/block-age.
  9. That is actually the only thing that's worse.
  10. The reports were that he was doing his medical, so theres all that and the other paperwork, plus we like to wait on clearance before making official announcements. On the subject of announcements, people who reply to any and every motherwell tweet with "announce x" are cringey as fuck. Also saw someone tag in the official account in a tweet from one of the tabloids asking for confirmation. Weird.
  11. Was really hoping he was going to greet at the end. They really drill the delusion into Aberdeen fans at an early age. There aren't many perks of being a Motherwell fan, but it's nice that, regardless of our form and league placing, losing to us really causes opposing fans to have an existential crisis. We could be bought by Elon Musk tomorrow, rebuild the galacticos, and still get the "no disrespect, but teams like motherwell" chat. Love it.
  12. Nah, we should move on, he can be another 10 clubs problem.
  13. Without even taking into account the health issues, he barely played last year, then didn't have a pre season, and he says himself that he needs six games to get up to speed. He's probably a luxury player when fully fit, so carrying him in the first team until he is fit seems like a big risk Someone may benefit from signing him, but I'd be surprised if it was us since we're trying to address immediate issues.
  14. "We are Aberdeen. A big rich city, with history. We do not lose to tower-block minks from scumville. Simple" But they kind of do, and quite often. Also, "history" doesn't mean what he thinks it means. We all have our roasters, but he's prime roaster.
  15. If I had to choose between a winger and a CB, I'd go with the former. We desperately need pace. Sheilds and efford have a fair bit of pace and power, but having someone who can really threaten on the break would make a huge difference. We may just have to see if we can build a partnership out of the center backs we have. All off them have had good spells and shown glimpses of being good, but are too prone to mistakes. Having a functional midfield will be huge for them, as this should hopefully give them more options to get rid of the ball. O'Donnell was fine at left back, but with the other two injured for a while, we still need someone there. We're hosed if we ever need to rely on Lamie there.
  16. Neilsen said that the reports of ginelly being free to go we're bollocks.
  17. During Alexanders tenure every game was so stressfull to watch, as the only thing we could cling on to was a potential result, because the football itself is shite. You can forgive a lot when the team plays like that, with attacking intent and maximum effort. As shite as our inevitable losses are going to be, you can take it as part of the process, and be annoyed at the result without the feeling of futility you got with the previous guy. I reserve the right to take this back if we lose to livi :-)
  18. In his interview yesterday he was coy when asked if signings we're imminent, he probably thought at the time he had a wee surprise up his sleeve, like Aberdeen with Clarkson last week.
  19. Difficult one, everyone performed well, with no one player standing out to a degree. I thought the starting three in the midfield all had good games, and all three were involved in an attacking sense at different points. I went with Cornelius because it was one of his best games for us. He pressed really well and ran himself into the ground. I don't think comparisons to Alan campbell are miles off. I also thought O'Donnell fared well at left back, and him running across to put the fear of God into the guy who was one on one after Sol slipped was awesome.
  20. Interesting, were they just not done in time, or did they fall through?
  21. That was a huge difference from a few weeks ago, with the same group of players. I was impressed with how well organized we were, and how everyone was working for each other to stay organized. We didn't do anything fancy in an attacking sense, but we used the ball a lot better and played with intent from the start. The safety first, defensive, approach from Alexander had everyone playing too tentatively, which just invites pressure, whereas today the players were free to take the ball into space and play tight passes. It was interesting to hear Hammell's comment on Slattery about the positions he needs to take up, as we need more goals from our midfielders. Cornelius had a really good game. Hopefully he's going to keep getting time, as if he can add a bit of composure to his game he will be an excellent player for us.
  22. We need some pace, and the way we're pressing it makes sense to switch out Spittal
