  1. Also, with us now being 2 first team midfielders short from where we started the season, surely we're looking to strengthen there?
  2. When a player is ready to leave us there isn't much we can do. Money is one factor, but taking on a new challenge and progressing is another. The club is pretty vocal about our model of selling players, and they might as well embrace it because that's the way it's going to be anyway. Campbell is the poster boy for our academy due to how driven he is, and how hard he has worked to meet his goals and make the most of his career. I'd be surprised if his ambitions ended with us. While it would be nice if he signed a deal so that we could make some money off him, and I hope he does, we can't force him to . Since we would be due compensation anyway, I'd prefer we kept him until the end of his contract rather than cash in now, but things aren't that simple when human beings are involved. Either way, who is next in line to graduate from the academy and give us 100 appearances?
  3. The stream went down for me for about a minute in the first half after the goal, then for a shorter period in the second half. That was the first time I had any issues this season, outside of that test game against rangers. I doubt much of it is within our control, and don't know how many companies are lining up to replace these folk, but I'm curious as to whether the other clubs are having issues with the streaming platform.
  4. White should have been off the park with the initial injury. We had enough on the bench, so there was no need to risk him. I hope he doesn't have a concussion, wouldn't wish that on anyone.
  5. It was a hard fought a game, and we did what we needed to win, so I'll take it. Only 3pts off of 5th now. Lamie really switched off on 2 occasions and only inept play from St J saved us from conceding each time. Outside of those mistakes, they had a couple of crosses and not much else. I can't really fault Bevis, he was pretty solid again. Watt and Lang worked hard, and Watt did a decent job of holding onto the ball, something that we've missed. We didn't manage to get crosses into the box as promised though, until white came on. I thought he looked more of a nuisance today and it was a shame he had to come off. We will be absolutely fucked when Campbell goes.
  6. Where are we with mcginley and Carroll? They used to have an injury list on the website but I can't find it anymore. And Dunne, forgot about him.
  7. Not going to over analyze this one as most of us expected this result. However, the mistakes we made would have lost us any game, and has been the story of our season. I assume it was O'Hara that lost his man for the 2nd goal, which is also something he seems to do. Going forward we didn't offer much, and our best chance of taking anything from the game would have been 0-0. Grimshaw did well against forest, but was lost against Frimpong. O'donnell was also shaky. We never seemed to be in the game after their goal, so I didn't have a problem with the substitutions at the time, it was worth a try, but they didn't work.
  8. We've been decent defensively, with grimshaw handling the left back position ok, and mugabi gaining the confidence to try and take on Celtic on his own. Going forward we've been disjointed, with our best piece of play leading to Watt's chance at the end of the half. We've seen halves like this against the OF before, hopefully we stay competitive in the second. A lot of mistakes for their goal, o'donnells terrible cross left half the team stranded, O'Hara failing to bring down macgregor, then the defending in the box.
  9. Thanks for reminding me of Scott Howie. I mind him apologising publically for being shite against hearts at tynecastle.
  10. We can't play those 2 wing backs against Celtic. I feel bad for grimshaw, but he's having a terrible start to the season. How long until any of our left backs return?
  11. Good to see a range of options for a change. I went for long because he ran all game and confirmed what we all know, that he plays better in a front 2. Polworth had a good game too, and will be a key player again this season. Have to agree with the shouts for Mugabi, he has improved and is growing in confidence on the ball.
  12. That could go so many different ways, at first glance I thought it was 4-3-1-2 with grimshaw in midfield and polworth as the 1, but who knows. Hopefully the 2 up front is correct and we're not doing some weirdness with long and lang on the wings.
  13. This undisclosed business is common across most clubs, but as said above, the truth will be in the accounts. Either way, it might be the most money we've ever had, so I'm hoping we sign someone who can play in all 11 positions and is really funny on twitter.
  14. I think making him our record player for returns, when he never seems to want to be here, and pairing him with long up front would at least be good for the banter.
  15. Pretty sure the last deal we had with them had a sell on, so don't see why we wouldn't have one this time. I'd expect a similar fee from last time, with some of the upfront money being moved to add ons for games played, to mitigate the injury risk.
  16. It’s hard to imagine that we won’t strengthen the team somehow if we bring in the expected amount for Turnbull. However, offloading players, as much as folk may dislike them, just doesn’t happen that easily.
  17. Think I’ve depressed myself, I’m going to drink beer, watch wrestling, and change my mind about moving back.
  18. From the above, I find it hard to see where he’s exploiting inefficiencies in the English lower leagues to our benefit. Many of our best signings recently have been Scottish - Gallagher, O’Hara, Polworth we’re all a big part of last season, supplemented by Scott and Campbell. Donnelly and Gillespie are definite plus signings from him. Outside of Kipre. Our previous fees were Heneghan and Johnson, and then we have Scott and Hastie who came through our system. Our next bunch of sales will be Campbell, Turnbull and maybe Gallagher.
  19. I saw him mentioned on the Robbo thread, and thought we could look at his signings since he joined in 2016ish and assess whether we think he’s been good or not. This is a list of what I got from Wikipedia or the top of my head, might be the wrong years, but a start. I’ll update if needed. Since foyle is the head of recruitment i think he should be held responsible for all transfers in good or bad, otherwise it’s hard to draw the line where he identified a player or whether it was someone Robinson knew, or Gallagher’s mate, or a dodgy YouTube video. What constitutes success? That’s definitely up for discussion. Did the player actually play a decent amount of games? Did we sell him? Did he go on to “better” things? 2020 - Lang, McGinley, Fox, Lamie, O’Donnell, White, Hastie 2019 - Gallagher, Polworth, Carroll, Sloth, Hylton, Long, Seedorf, Ilic, Manzinga, Mugabi, Watt, McIver, Robinson, Aarons, Cole, O’Hara 2018 - Gillespie, Johnson, Taylor-Sinclair, Donnelly, Gorrin, Mbulu, Ariyibi, Sammon, McCormack 2017 - Fisher, Bigi, Tanner, Carson, Rose, Griffiths, Dunne, Kipre, Newell, Plummer, Ferguson, Petravicius, Grimshaw, Hartley, Main, Aldred, Gordon , Hendrie, Ciftci 2016 - don’t know who were his signings or the other guy’s. In the same rough period, players to come through our system and play more than a token game or two: Cadden, Campbell, Hastie, Turnbull, Maguire, Scott, Semple
  20. Get a hold of yourselves, even joking about Hughes is a step too far, he’s fucking rubbish. If Robinson goes, Lasley is our next manager. But Robinson isn’t going anywhere.
  21. There’s a big difference between dominating a game and being allowed to have possession. We had a five minute spell at the start of the second half where we put them under real pressure, but that was it. Throwing in all the strikers at the end like we were all over them was a huge mistake, at that point it was clear that accies were waiting for their opportunity, and we handed it right to them. they beat us because they have the mentality of underdogs that have to fight for every point, while we strolled about thinking we were a big deal. Seedorf has a habit of hiding then making his run when it’s too late, giving the impression he has space, when he is just terrible, and hylton just isn’t offering anything. If white hadn’t given away a foul I’d have forgot all about him. I had to go online and check when long came on, seems like he was operating in the same black hole as white.
  22. Absolutely woeful. We have been well and truly sussed out by everyone, and we’re stuck with who we’ve signed now.
  23. Bevis had so much of the ball because Hibs were happy to let him have it. Either way, he was fine and deserves just as much credit for the clean sheet as anyone else. In fact the worst pass of the day goes to Turnbull, but I’ll get over it. It was good to see Gallagher stroll a game again.
  24. Far better showing today, and I felt that we were the better team. I’ll go with the old cliche of taking a point before the game though, cos I thought we were going to get hammered. Lamie and O’Hara looked far better today, and we weren’t troubled by their wingers at all. O’Donnell made a huge difference, and fuck knows how Turnbull was able to play him in at center forward at some point. Campbell was immense and I sincerely hope he gets back what he’s put into his game. As great as Turnbull is, watching Campbell improve is a joy. Lang certainly offers something, but we still look ineffective up front. White improved when he started coming short, but I’m still not convinced by him.
  25. We were rubbish midweek, but wasn't Lamie the only one out of position? Maybe O'Hara?
