You don't have interviews then hire the shitest one. Whether he's an outstanding manager and whether he was the outstanding candidate from a group of 5 based on whatever our criteria is is two different things. I am not particularly excited about this appointment, just because he's not new and we all like new things, but the fans criteria of someone different who's not an unknown , and knows our game without being a usual suspect, and has been successful but we can afford him, is always going to be difficult to match.

Cadden, Thomas, and Jules all called up to the Scotland u21s
-
We took applications last week, drew up a shortlist, and have been holding interviews since Monday, hardly sounds like we're scrambling.
-
I don't think it says he was interviewed, just that 3 had been interviewed and yogi was the bookies favorite now, with 2 more interviews to go. I'm guessing the club gave him the numbers and a bookies website gave him the names.
-
Or he wears a hat, Dick Campbell maybe
-
And according to the motherwell times online we have 2 more interviews tomorrow.

Since we're being made to wait, can we just pre-emptively complain about a presumed candidate each day? Is John Hughes much better than Stephen Presley? I group them in the same category. Both strike me as guys who talk a load of shite and give themselves the impression that their teams play good football, despite their teams being generally shite. By all accounts ICT's relative success under yogi was due to Russell Latapy. Why is he in the list of names if he already has a club? Would we pay money for Hughes?

Betting odds are great, John Hughes now favorite and simo down to 14-1 on skybet. Are 10 quid bets swinging this thing?

From our fearless leader on the twitter: "Still going through the process, ... Making sure we get 'under the bonnet' with all candidates."

There's a week off between the st j and rangers games, that's what I was thinking of, followed by 3 games in a week. If nothing else, if we can negotiate the st Johnstone game, we have a couple of weeks to get injuries sorted and get acquainted to the new manager.

Having games against Partick, ict, and accies pre-split, with the latter two at home gives us a great chance to ensure our own safety early. Is there a break in between these fixtures? Dundee have the worst of the fixtures, and I think Partick will sneak 6th, although a win for us this week could make it interesting. Getting at least a point though would take the pressure off a little for the trip to ibrox, where a result isn't totally out of the question.

Maybe he said that after the interviews were done?

I think that for the job of trying to keep us up, Robinson is probably the best fit. He has organized us a little better, and has the backing of the players. Bringing in someone with new ideas, and who wants to make a name for themselves, at this stage of the season could backfire if they are unable to get the players on board. I'm not sure that Robinson is the best fit for the annual rebuilding job though, but I don't know who is. I assume simo probably won't apply for a third time.
-
It's also possible that we never considered Presley, and he just ruled himself out so that people know he's around and we didn't knock him back. Or the sun just made it up.
-
if Lennon is what we're looking at, then I'd rather just keep Robinson. He didn't do a particularly good job at Alloa. As for Presley, I'm happy that I now know it won't be him.

Make sure you're reading the right rule book, since there are 3: 1 - Old firm game rules 2 - Old firm v anyone else rules 3 - The actual rules of football

Might as well throw in Darren young from that list, had done well at Albion rovers. McPherson gives me the fear.

Burley has come up the last couple of times, but seems to be off the radar this time around for some reason. I'd like him here, he'd fit the "craig brown type" profile. Mixu is still kicking about too, and I think we agreed last time that he'd be shite.
-
So for speculation's sake, we can probably discount anyone who is employed, so let's drop Duffy and Hughes. This would also cover previous popular applicants like nijholt and vdg. Alex Neil would be great, but there's no way he would take a job just a couple of days after being fired. Then we know coyle, Davies and mcculloch haven't applied. Assuming our short list is of applicants, and not a wish list: Robinson has definitely applied, and valakari apparently flew to Scotland last week, and he did apply last time so we can be pretty sure he's one of the short list. This leaves names like butcher, Presley, Lomas, who will all know what the job involves and be in our price range. Then outsiders like dickov and freedman. So I'm now sure that it will be Robinson.

I figured since interviews are on Monday that some of the runners would be at the game today, but nothing has been mentioned.

Before the game most of us were happy to just not take a doing, but ffs, to switch off at the last minute is criminal. -

We're capable of shipping 5 goals in a half. Let's hope we didn't just switch halves -
Has there been any talk of finding ways to entice fans in other countries to join, maybe in the form of a campaign specifically targeting them? pulling on the heartstrings with some nostalgia or stuff like "you're not here but you can help", or "you don't have to watch this, but we do, so give us money". Is this an effort that could be an opportunity for an exile member to have something to do? I don't know the size of our international fan base, but if there are two of us in memphis then there must be loads in cities and countries that are nice.

He's dead to me if he can't be selected on a Saturday. ...or I clicked the wrong thread.
