  1. good post....

its a tough one, I have always felt we have been too "nice" as a team in recent years. The ninties team would "bully" the 2000 team

Porter was as close to a predator as we've had since the Cobra

Dolan would do the dirty work, leave the boot in etc

Softie - the name explains it all

Lambert with the gyle, over Hughes anyday

who would you want to go in for a 50/50 ball with in the 93/94 team, compared to the 2007 team??

McCormack is still the one that will divide fans, there is no doubt he was the most talented player out them all in a Motherwell top - you could argur Lambert as he went onto Dortmund

Altho who would ever forget Brian Martins goal at Ibrox?!? lol

as for who was shite.......Shannon and Kirk got the most abuse IIRC

  2. i've heard that big sutty regularly scoops with lennon up the west end.

nae idea if lennon would bring someone in because he's a mate.

i heard that Sutton was tee total...............Lennon on the other hand isny! Maybe John just takes him home in his taxi!!

  3. guy in my work has just asked me if i knew of, or had heard anything about Sutton to Smeltic. He's a tim, so I asked him for links etc as to where this was being discussed. He said its on a few of their forums - namely the green brigade forum.

Celtic fans are saying that Lennon is looking for a target man as Daryl Murphy failed to live up to expectations - they have Stokes and Hooper who are similar, so are looking for something different. They were also saying he has limited ability in the sense that he aint going to cut it in Europe, however could certainly do a job domestically.

Would be gutted if he left, great player for us and would be a major loss

    anyone know or heard?!

  4. should we or can we afford to take a chance with Rory McAllister?

looked decent when we played against Brechin earlier in the season, and certainly gave Reynolds a run for his money when it came to pace. IIRC, he is a plumber - so we'd need to offer good money for him to consider chucking that and part time football.

Do managers ever ask players if they know of anyone that is available? eg - does Jones know of anyone who could do a job that maybe McCall isnt aware of? Or ask Randolph if there were youngsters at Charlton who showed some promise?

  5. I dont understand why our tickets cost £20 and Celtics cost them £15

because our family section is "behind the goal" and our non family section is in the main stand

celtic fans can buy tickets in the main stand for £20, just like us. Or they can buy £15 for behind the goal. As we do not have many fans, the £15 "section" is not available to us

i personally think the club have made a booboo here, but I'm sure they know that more "adults" will buy a £20 ticket, than a family ticket - therefore more cash, although it shouldnt matter as the money is split 4 ways

  6. thought hutch had a great game again...........was worried about what NIsh would do, and is previous seasons, Stokes, Riordan, NIsh and Miller have tore us a new one. He got stuck in, put himself in where it hurts and still looks very composed on the ball. Sunday will test his metal - if he continues to play well, he could be the next one on the way out of FP. When Nish came on, he never game him anything - on the deck on in the air. He certainly let him know he was there. Pass marks for everyone on saturday, altho IMO Hately is still never a central midfielder. With Meechan and Page coming on, and the latter doing a great job of breaking everything up -

1 - does that mean that McCall sees more in them than he does in Forbes?

2 - 451 - possibly play that against Rangers, with Page being asked to do that agianst Naismith or Weiss?

3 - can Page get in the team?? if so, where? any time I have seen him, I have been impressed

was surprised at their bench on saturday - wonder if CC decided to drop them all after the Ayr game

would have taken nearly every single one of them for our team.....Hogg, Riordan, Nish, De Graf, Wotherspoon

  7. To say a cup win over Rangers is overdue is an understatement ,I have never seen us beat them in a cup competition and Ive been supporting Motherwell since the late 60,s .Been to most of those games and felt the heartache that went with them. But I'm always pleased when we draw them in a cup because sooner or later we WILL BEAT THEM and I would travel to the ends of the earth to see us beat those BASTARDS.

    BLAME STEVIE WOODS!!!!!

  8. It really isn't. The suggestion that the top of the 1st division is just as good as the SPL or that there are plenty of 'gems' in the lower leagues is total shite.

Stevenson is a bit of an odd one, a Chelsea youth player, you could argue that he's back to the level he should've been at anyway!

well my season ticket wont be getting renewed next season anyway - not value for money, and I cant jusitfy the outlay when I'm not enjoying it and when i now have other commitments

Stephen Cosgrove - a Man Utd youth player................what happened to him when he came to us? went down and down and down. I wouldnt say there are "plenty" of gems, but there are defo players who can make the step up,they just need to be given the chance.

I remember speaking to McFadden at one of the POTY events in Fir Park, although I cant remember the full conversation, it was along the lines of there were other players who he played with that were miles better than him, however he was just lucky that on the day he stood out above others. So luck has alot to do with it, getting a chance to prove yourself is the problem. Teams dont have the spare money to give someone a chance. One of the guys i know used to play for the Well, got released and ended up signing for Stenny after a few weeks of nothing. Two days after he signed for them, he got a call from Celtic saying they had just heard he got released and wanted him. Needless to say, Stenny told him he was under contract and couldnt go

  9. if Motherwell want to pay me to go to Div1,2 or 3 games every week to watch games and try to spot some talented players, then I'd happily do that

it would probably be better than going to FP anyway!!!

there are defo players out there, i think as someone mentioend earlier - we dont have the money to take a risk on them

Frazer Wright from Stranraer to Killie

Ryan Stephenson from Ayr to Hearts

  10. if lasley doesnt make it, then Hately will be in midfield and someone will come in at RB

as for the 3-5-2 mentioned earlier - no chance

    it will be 442 or a 451

if we can get an early goal against them, then I think we could see another 4 goals similar to Dundee, but my head says a Hibs win

  11. IIRC correctly, he's a right footed player who likes to cut in albeit, he isnt afraid to have a go with his left peg

he's a tall gangly player who can hopefully help us create chances and get the ball in the box for Sutton

I'm not overly concerned that he's 34 - we could have brought in younger players who could be just as bad............malcolm, keegan, molloy and numerous other players who we have had on trial

I think we need to accept that if a player is great in every sense, then they WONT be signing for Motherwell - he WILL have some shortcomings

Jamie Murphy is a talented player - but he wont make the top grade cos he's too slight

John Sutton is a great player for us - but he wont make it as he's not as quick as other strikers

Mark Reynolds is a another example - great player, but wont make the top grade as he isnt as bulky as other centre halves

We are Motherwell - and sometimes I think we forget that. yes, we all want the best we can get, but we have to be realistic. As long as these guys give 100%, then that will do for me

  12. i dont think there is anything wrong with what he has said

he knows he's here to get games, and if he plays well, he knows he will have a better chance of getting into the Leeds team

fingers crossed he does as well as Lukas and Nick, but as mentioned above - what will McCalls strongest strike force be now?

I think its fair to say that Casagolda is bottom of the list.........will it be Grella and Murphy? Grella and Sutton? Maybe see Murphy pushed out wide, and keep Jones and Humprey on their toes??? Surely its not going to be Murphy and Sutton?!?! Not that Im compaining about that patnership, but if it is, then I dont see the point in bringing this guy in

  13. good luck to him

I've liked what I have seen of him - he just hasn't had as much game time as he'd have liked

fingers crossed he gets some goals and comes back full of confidence

anyone know what came of Liam Buchanan? highly thought of a few seasons back

  14. Just got a text from a die-hard Rangers supporting mate asking how good he is...he says from what he's heard (and he's one of these guys that is always usually right when guessing players to come/go to Ibrox) there's definately an interest been shown.

the way i look at it is this.............Rangers do not have money, they can not go out and spend £12m on Flo, they can not go out and buy Goodwillie(even though he doesnt want to go), they can not buy back Kris Boyd, they can not buy anyone from the Championship

so what do they do..........they will look at the SPL and see who is available. They will know his contract is up and they will look to see someone who is proven at this level. If you can score a reasonable amount of goals for a Motherwell, a St Mirren, a Falkirk - you really should be able to score goals for Rangers or Celtic with the amount of chances they make. As soon as John Sutton or anyone else who plays for a smaller team, is aware that one of the big two are interested - they will be keen to go there. Any player can realistically treble/quadruple their money going to the OF and they will still think its a bargain

another player, who if he does go (even though I think its highly unlikely and he will probably be laughing about us talking about this) will go with my best wishes as he has continually gave us his all

  15. i really cant understand the "anti" John Sutton campaign that goes on in here.

he is totally the type of player we need at our club - I accept his ability may be limited, but his attitude and commitment to the club are 100% spot on

we should be doing all we can to keep him

(200k.......if we only got 100k for Wattie, absolutely no chance)
