  1. Still don't know what to say.
  2. The big worry is a midfield without both Jennings and Lasley may begin to resemble whovever Hibs put in the engine room. I suppose if Coke makes it then we can stick him and Hateley in the middle with O'Brien,Murphy, Sutton and the Duke all involved somewhere. First goal will be crucial, as per in the SPL. We won't make it easy on ourselves but I'll go for a 1-0 home win.
  3. So close to the English Premier£hip, so far from Sky('s cash).
  4. Sheeeee-it, spoilt a bit by being top of the page. I never really know hwo to judge goal of the season style polls/comps. I find it hard to compare long range strikes form team goals, diving headers from volleys and so on. It's a ll just a matter of taste I suppose. And what about the importance of the goal, does that matter or play a part in the selection. I went for Murphy's against the Accies but could have picked any really. Surprised Forbes' is such a clear front-runner.

    Rhys Weston

We could do with some smeddum-guid Scots word- in our side.
  6. It's an outrage etc. Plus we'll lose
  7. Not really had the breaks with injury etc but can only echo other posters sentiments.
  8. Jennings must be the priority.
  9. My sentiments exactly. They're a vile lot. Lennon's OK though, I quite like the real wind-up merchants.

    Jim O'Brien

While recognising that O'Brien flatters to deceive and is a deeply frustrating player at times I'd be pleased if he stayed on. He's mildly entertaining.
  11. Thread hijack alert. Dearie me. It's a historical ranking. The SPL is just as relevant as the first 10 seasons of league football. I'll be really pedantic and point out Queen's last trophy wasn't in 1893. Can't be arsed to look it up but thy've won a least 2 lower league flags since then, which garnered points in that link's ranking system. Of course Dundee Utd are a bigger club than Queen's Park, but yet again you've spectularly missed the point.
  12. I'm filled with dread for this one. But that's usually when we manage a surpise or two. Like to see Brown stick with the front four type carry-on(Murphy,Sutton,O'Brien and the Duke-fitness permitting).
  13. Dundee Utd were irrelevant until about 1960, when Jerry Kerr bought in a whole load of Scandinavians and even then they never did much in the top league. I don't have the figures to hand but i'd be surprised if from 1909(when they were formed) until 1959(first fifty years) if they played 10 seasons in the top flight. It's only a historical ranking, you can't just dismiss the early years. EDIT: good post from OP.
  14. Boyle seeking some from of compensation mechanism to be put in place. Story from the Beeb Interesting that he says: "The problem is that this has had catastrophic effects on Motherwell's finances. We made a loss last year; this year, we were heading towards a small but decent profit and that's been completely blown out the window because, obviously, you budget for a Celtic or a Rangers game and, hopefully, if it's an important one, it can be a big money-spinner." I thought we budgeted for a 11th place finish and early cup-exits. This suggest we now expect to be a top six side. Granted the league is full of utter rubbish like Killie etc. but still, ity could lead to nervous times, especially if we get player/manager recruitment wrong at some stage.
  15. Tuffey at Thistle looks good. Only seen him once, mind, but he gets fine write-ups(admittedly in the laughably pro-Thistle Herald. Probably a non-starter, his contracts up in the summer and half of the English Division Two is after the boy.
  16. His Adriano_Pellegrino Wikipedia page contains a gem of a line. Not quite in Ross Tokley's class though. Och, Tokley's has been fixed.
  17. You touch on an important point there, Lobey Dosser. Going to matches is a habit-forming activity. Once you start to miss a few games, be they away to the OF, a long trip to ICT, cold midweek game, unappealing Cup tie not covered by your season book or whatever, then you realise you can do with it. It's then not that much of a stretch to give up your season and pick and choose even home games. After that, well, it's a small leap to not going at all-except for really big games. That's what happened to me, plus I got old and discovered football's a load of shite. Hopefully the whole edifice goes tits-up and we can get our game back. You know, equal league structure, standing at games, afforabale tickets, folk not treated like criminals for having a sing-song etc.
  18. It was so much easier when Fitzpatrick was involved.

    Greg Denholm

    Fuck him, he's pish.
  20. This disinterested fraud has robbed loyal fans like myself for years. How he can look in the mirror after some of his displays is beyond me. I'll be heckling the "skillful" forward at every opportunity. After all, I pay my money each week. That rat-tailed clown Eric Garcin, well, don't get me started.

    Jim O'brien

He's fuckin' shite. I'd also punt Craigan, who's slow and cannae pass. What about Reynolds? A weakling ginger at centre-half? PSV??? They can have him, on a free. Young boys like Forbes, Murphy and Hateley can also get to fuck. Guys like this just aren't Motherwell standard. And John Sutton. What a shit striker. Did you see him tonight? Gash.
