I agree with some of the earlier stuff, get rid of the old firm, vote the wankers out. Start from scratch with a new league format that suits everyone. Advertisers and sponsors will always need the platform and exposure that football in Scotland provides, with or without the Glasgow gits and tv will always provide that. Reduce the wage bills for players. No matter what clubs might end up paying them it is still a more attractive option for most young players early in their careers, especially the way things are going with the economy. We can't hold onto players these days regardless of what we pay them. Think again about gate prices. Clubs could integrate themselves more with the local community because more than ever they need them. I don't think all this would be easy but I would love to give it a go and give the old firm a fright. For too long that pair have moaned their tits off about our football and done zero to help it along while blaming everything and everyone in Scottish football. I'm sure there is a place for them, maybe we should decide where it is. Dunno if I have articulated myself the way I wanted but that's the best I could manage.

I read the full article in the paper this morning and it listed all the factors that allowed them to set generous odds on a red card in this game. No feud between the teams etc. It also said that the ref hadn't sent a player off since August.......he sent a player off in the Dunfermline game last Saturday for fuck sake. If thats the strategy they employ prior to games to determine odds and subsequently hang a player out to dry then fuck them. Innocent until proven otherwise.

Some excellent posts on this thread. Melvin Bragg has made some very accurate comments that sadly reflect my own feelings. I don't think it can be seen as some sort of misguided nostalgia either. I went with my 2 brothers to almost every game home and away for almost thirty years and saw far more mince than silky football. Was the same every summer, would the 'bug' kick in again and would we renew our season ticket. It never failed and we always did. A few years ago one brother stopped going. This season the 2nd one announced that not only was he not renewing, he wasn't bothered about going at all. To date he has made only the Tynecastle match. This was a guy who went everywhere. Now I'm starting to feel the same, partly financial I suppose but a bigger part is boredom. I don't even know who 90% of opposition players are because who can be arsed watching Sportscene or any Scottish Sky match that doesn't involve Motherwell. The quality isn't great, the stadia are boring and I think the whole Sat/Sun/ 12,1,2,2.15 whenever the games go ahead thing doesn't help. After all that I'm still planning to go for the moment but I am getting close to packing it in. I would be curious to hear what some of the younger folk on here think and if folk are genuinely enjoying still going then brilliant.

Don't think we should be brickin it just because that mob of tossers have found a bit of form. Looking forward to the game and we can give them plenty of problems. A win for us

For me it would be, apart from the odd one or two, any game at Swynecastle in the 80's and 90's. Always got beat, the team always got battered (so did we from time to time) and it was always raining. Hated Mercer, hated their fans and hated the ground. Dinnae even start on the refs
