The system was a disaster in the first half. Cadden and Pearson were constantly caught between two Killie players and McDonald was having to go side to side helping them. It should probably have been all over by half time given the chances Killie had but thankfully we got a chance to get back in the game. The attention will probably go to the subs but changing from one holding to two changed the game. Two goals from set pieces which I think matches our total for the season before today. I thought it was a penalty but we're a long way away. The gamemanship probably put Boyd off and it was great to see us showing a bit of fight, I think they've finally had the wake up call that we were getting relegated unless we picked up. Bowman had his best performance. Moult and McDonald should always be on but he showed he can contribute in a relegation scrap.

The Garner one was a red. With the goalie at normal speed it's impossible for the ref or the assistant to be sure when he actually makes contact with the ball.

It would be better if they learned their lesson and actually brought the players back on a date that allowed them to be fit for our first competitive game.

Watching the Celtic game last night reminded of the time Jim wanted to send Ruddy back to Everton and buy Owain Fon Williams.

McDonald and Moult are doing fine it's the rest of the squad. Tait has one, Bowman one, Clay one, Cadden one, Ainsworth three. Everyone else zero. And to make matters worse Bowman's goal was utterly pointless, Cadden's was a tap in from a yard and Clay's was a wind assisted fluke.

Getting relegated doesn't bear thinking about. If Martin Canning's Accies and Clark and McCulloch's Killie finish above us it would require a complete clear out at Fir Park.

I've already explained that there is constant dialouge on all issues. There are society board meetings, email chains and interaction on match days.

He could be looking at it more from the position of long term career prospects rather than short term gain.

Jules has been thrown in at the deep end, there is no need to vilify the guy. He is here because McGhee burned his bridges with Laing and Kennedy which left us short of a centre half. That we have essentially paid Laing to go and play for a relegation rival is another black mark against McGhee.

Kieran Kennedy is back.

The problem isn't the senior players. It's that we have only signed four decent players - Moult, McHugh, Tait, Henneghan - in the past four transfer windows and one of them is a right back who can't defend. The other clubs around us are building teams to survive in the league while we are playing a demented version of bargain hunt in English lower league football. Our recruitment this season has been horrendous and our entire transfer policy needs to a rethink. Hopefully Frear and Bowman will be a wake up call.

Cadden will be here next season.
