you know what i mean. it seems like the fans attitudes to our players is changing. i'm only 26 so i don't actually know if joe was as revered during his playing days as he is now but the guys in our team who are creeping up to near his appearance total get very little respect from the fans. a lot of people seemed to be spoiled by watching so much high class football on tv and taken in by the andy gray/hansen nonsense where every goal is analysed like the zappruder film and blame apportioned.

a bit harsh on danny murphy. not the best player but he played a blinder against ivan sproule at hibs and i'm sure got motm when he scored the cheeky wee free kick at dundee united. he's someone who never recovered from having a dodgy first few games at fir park even although he played well away from home. molloy and keegan were apocolyptically bad.

simo - big jim smith must have had a fetish for finnish good looks. the guy got a move to the premiership and was an international ffs. he was popular because he was brave, commited and massively improved himself as a player in his time here. foran - he scored 35 goals in 105 appearances from midfield. as far as i know he's the only motherwell player to score in two semi finals. dougie arnott - not even worth responding to. mcdonald - great player for us and has proved his class since he left. he also didn't celebrate after scoring his first hat trick for celtic against us and only started when he got pelters back at fir park. lasley - a shite point at any time but after the start of the broon era it's ridiculous bordering on retarded. a better question is why are so many well fans these days keen to put down players who are commited to the club and work hard on the park. hammell, craigan and lasley are club legends and have shown recently thay still have loads to contribute yet people consistently want to put them down and this season we've had threads in which posters (diddies) say they're finished and should be punted. i remember my dad telling me how him and all the guys from his pub wrote a letter to john philliben after the 91 final because they were that guttted for him they didn't play. would something like that happen these days? what would be the reaction to some of our club legends from modern fans. imagine the reaction to wullie p coming back with fhw and united and i bet there would be threads about how it was time for joe wark to retire. we've been extremely lucky over the years and especially so recently that we've had a good combination of talented players and also quite a few who truly have the club at heart. the players we've had in my time have been far better than what fans at the other non city clubs have had to watch so can we not maybe just be grateful we're not st mirren fans and give our guys a bit of support and recognition.

anybody know if we've got a sell on with mcdonald. it looks like he's on his way out of celtic (monkeyheid must have money on rangers to win the league) and it would be ideal if we could get some of the dough. looks like we're not bringing anyone in which i'm not too bothered about. even with slane, mcgarry and yas leaving we've still got 23 players who have played this season plus darren smith, i think we're set.

it was a magic day out. great game and a good laugh pre and post match. the only bad thing was the weather and that the replacement bus didn't have a pisher on the the way up from dundee and i thought my bladder was going to explode. other than it was about as close to a perfect away day as we're likely to get. superb to see another clean sheet. i'm sure someone said it would be impossible for our team to go a full game without conceding but it turns out that if you play your two best centrehalfs together and have a real right back it can be done pretty easily, who'd have thunk it. we had excellent performances all through the team. the core four of crags, las, reynolds and hammell were outstanding again. ruddy and juke again showed that they're a class above. tom hateley was his usual reliable self, jennings looked right up for it from the off, fitzy showed he can contribute and JOB was electric. special mention for sutton from me as well, i've been a critic of his but his application and effort in the last half dozen games has been unreal, long may it continue.

giles has been treading a fine line with his tackles all season, he likes to jump in a bit too much and was lucky he wasn't sent off in the dons game and a couple of others as well. good effort from everyone tonight. as the game was winding down to half time i thought we've had a few decent chances (forbes and craigan) and we'll score in the second half. obviously the red card changed everything and the second half was all about working hard and everyone got their sleeves rolled up and got stuck in. the back 4 were superb, lasley tackled anything that moved and sutton and murphy put in great shifts. as much as coke deserved his card what were hateley and forbes doing with the free kick also thought we had a strong penalty claim when sutton looked to be pushed under the ball from lasley's cross just after half time.

i'm not sure i agree with that. jim o'brien put in a good shift defensively on saturday and humphrey is good at getting back in due to his pace. plus i think hammell and o'brien work well together and the combination of hateley's passing and humphs speed could be dangerous. forbes lack of pace hurts us both ways when he's at left mid. he's always likely to get outpaced and he's never going to beat a fullback.

the juke was brutal up at pittodrie but improved a bit in each of the next games and has been flying since he got that double at st mirren. great news

getting hammell a new deal should be a top priority. 320 appearances at 27 years old. if he signs a three year deal he'll be closing in on joe wark

i think we could be dodging a bullet if we don't get mcglinchey. i'd much rather see humph, pollock or darren smith get a chance in the first team. the few times i've seen mcglinchey play before he's been murder.

half a million would be a good deal in my opinion. to get a really good price for a player you need a combination of a decent length of contract and a few different clubs really wanting the player which i don't think we have.

the club isn't in any position to give up loads of their match day income and past initiatives have shown that lower prices don't increase gates enough to make up for it. the fans should pay because we're the reason the club exists. if money doesn't come from the fans where exactly should it come from?

i disagree. the clubs exists because of the fans. it costs a lot to put a decent team on the park and maintain a pitch and a stadium, if motherwell fans aren't willing to pay for that then who is going to provide the money? we support a club that relatively very few people care about, if the people who claim to care about the club aren't willing to put their hands in their pockets then we'll be stuck watching continually worse football in a rotting stadium until we wind up due to lack of interest. the problem with scottish football is that too many people want to talk about what's wrong but not enough people are actually willing to commit time and money to making things better.

if we can only get 3000 for for a home game what right have we to expect to be able to compete with hearts, hibs or aberdeen?

shite support again today, people need to realise that motherwell fc only exists for motherwell fans and therefore motherwell fans are the ones who have to put their hands in their pockets to ensure the club can survive. 15 thousand at the CIS final, 3000 in nancy but only 200 on monday and just over 3000 today. if there's a good day out involved or a bit of glamour you'll have well fans coming out your ears (and they'll be signed up online moaning about ticket allocation) but the week to week support that club needs to thrive is never going to be there.

if we regularly have less than 400 on a saturday then it's not much of a suprise that we had such a small a crowd on monday. netherton - where are all the thousands that want to watch the team in regular away spl matches, motherwell fans must be the poorest, longest working folk in europe.

i might be in the minority but me my brother and big conn enjoy going to games. in my opinion eight less games a season would be shite. i actually like watching the well.

very poor show from the team tonight. poor show from the well fans as well, less than 200. if we beat st mirren i will not give a france. if anyone knows the old boot who grassed in me and wellayrshire for having a snout at halftime can you give her my best wishes. even although you went down and got the stewards and explicitly tried to get a couple of good well fans who had travelled 300 miles to support the team chucked it doesn't make you a bad person. i like things the way they are. there's plenty of other stuff do in the summer and the idea of january and febraury without any games would be torture. surely the last two games are proof that winter football is working - good games, good travelling support and a great atmosphere. there were also a few threads on P&B where posters demonstrated that if we were to maintain a 38 game season with two cups the "summer season" would have to run from the end of february to the start of december. does anyone actually want to see the scottish cup final played in november or december? we live in a country with shite infrastructre and unpredictable weather, i think we just have to accept that call offs will happen. the main thing is ensuring that fans get plenty of notice (which to be fair we have had).
