I've got a feeling that the refs have been told to crack down on deliberate fouls this year. Quite a few games have been unwatchable recently because teams foul almost every time they lose their shape. It makes for a better product if the game flows and we see some attacking football with ball in play rather than endless free kicks. St Johnstone are by far the worst for it but we were pretty bad under GA and Celtic are incredibly cynical if you look at the high number of fouls they commit despite having 80% possession most games. Lundstrum got sent off today for the same tackle Callum Lang saw red for at Dingwall. It was the correct decision but it needs to be 100% consistent.

Getting the first home win at the third attempt is huge, especially since it felt like a decent size crowd today. We are still lacking some quality in the final third and having a wholly right footed left hand side of the park isn't viable long term but right now it's just about getting points on the board and getting some breathing space while all the pressure piles onto our next two opponents Dundee United and Killie.

Jake Hastie got an assist for Hartlepool in the early kick off against Bradford. Hopefully he screws the nut now he's off the Rangers gravy train. Euan Murray is down there as well.
-
Big Sol won everything against Nouble to the extent they moved him out wide. A big performance after getting the vote of confidence from Hammell.
-
There's not really anyone from the academy ready to come in who Johnston would be competing with. It's the same with McKinstry.
-
When he came in at first he looked like a guy who hadn't played much football. In 20-21 he was pretty average. When he came back after that summer he looked a lot stronger and leaner.
-
His improvement in fitness happened 6 months after Robinson left. I would guess it was more down to entering the final 12 months of his contract than either manager.
-
He went to primary school in the Gallowgate according to this https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/robert-snodgrass-trained-rangers---5176196

Snodgrass has had 14 years down South earning big money so moving back to Glasgow and working with a manager he knows might be worth more to him than the extra wages from Aberdeen or a League One side. I saw him on TV a couple of times last season when he was playing with wee Al and his form was decent. If we do sign him then you'd have to wonder if we would still be looking for cover for KVV or gambling that he won't be injured and suspended too often. Quality in the final third wins you games so spending whatever budget we have there might be the smart move. It's worth remembering that this a unique window in that we only need players to get us through to the 12th of November so there is less to fear from injuries and suspensions than a normal season.

Hopefully McKinstry is on the bench on Saturday. He should be desperate to show what he can do after being around the Leeds first team squad last season.
-
He burnt his bridges on the way out the door.
-
He misses out the bit where he was refusing to play and got suspended from the club for a few weeks but apart from that it's a fair comment. I would guess that if we offered the same wages as Aberdeen and Dundee United guys like him and Watt would be happy to stay at Fir Park but that's not how it is and it's a short career for them.

Big Obileye at the back for Livi eats up any high balls so it'll be another day for getting the ball down and playing some football. As others have said we were a surprise package on Saturday and Goodwin couldn't deal with it. Martindale is a shrewd manager and will have a plan to frustrate us but hopefully we can score early again and put the pressure onto them.
-
We clearly got the best 6 months of his career when he was motivated to earn a big contract. Whether this actually happened or not it's definitely true.
-
With Aberdeen, Hibs and Dundee United having slow starts it's possible that a relatively low points total will take 4th and 5th again. Obviously we still have a lot to prove but if we get through the first two rounds in the mix then it's achievable. Hopefully Killie and County get marooned in the bottom two spots to give us some breathing space.

"Brewdog in town this weekend celebrating their AGM, massive event. Private jets from all over stacked at ABZ. Meanwhile, at beach, the Famous turned over by a bunch of socially-housed minks, with zero history. How could this be? An utter travesty, beyond comprehension. I blame the recruitment process. On joining , never mind taking these newbies [and their entourage] around the Audi garages and private schools. Perhaps first they should be educated about the city and it’s business , the history, what the men of Aberdeen expect, their expectations. If you want to play for Aberdeen then losing is not allowed. A slim defeat to the filth, having tried fucking hard , is occasionally understood, sometimes. We are Aberdeen. A big rich city, with history. We do not lose to tower-block minks from scumville. Simple. " Amazing scenes on the Sheep board.

Reading the Aberdeen forum they are unhappy they have 'only' spent £1.3m this summer. None of their new signings were impressive so I don't think it'll be long until they turn on Goodwin. That was the best midfield performance from us for a long, long time. Anytime we have played any football recently it's been with Goss, Slattery and Dean playing. If Hammell can get Goss and Slattery playing to their potential we will be ok. The cherry on the cake yesterday was Faddy proudly nailing his colours to the mast on Sportscene. I almost considered paying my license fee.....

That's the most football we've played all year. Hopefully we can keep it going second half.
-
A point today would be huge.
-
That's an old school way of looking at it. These days managers come and go so they shouldn't have a free hand to make decisions that are likely to have a serious impact on the club and everyone who works there beyond their tenure.
-
Burrows has to take some blame. When Alexander comes to you and asks for Paul McGinn point to Stephen O'Donnell's contract that he signed off on 12 months ago. When he wants Blair Spittal point to Cornelius, Goss and Slattery and ask how he fits in. When he wants 31 year old journeyman Morris just say no. We have only signed three players and we didn't need any of them. Managers are financially insulated from failure by the nature of their contracts, they cannot be allowed to control the club's budget with no oversight.

We are in a precarious position in the league. We have probably the worst attack in the league along with St Mirren and the single worst defence in the league. We also have the most inexperienced manager. How much money we have in the bank won't matter if we finish bottom. It's also likely that when the transfer window closes fans are going to get pissed off that we spent millions levelling a perfectly fine pitch and are stuck watching Josh Morris and Joe Efford week in, week out.
-
Given who was on the shortlist this is the best appointment. Simo was too big a risk considering our current position and the other candidates were poor. Hammell's only job this season is to keep us up which will be very difficult. Hopefully the lack of interest in the job from credible managers gives Burrows and the other key decision makers at the club a kick up the arse regarding our transfer policy. We have been burning piles of cash on dross for too long and it's left us in a very precarious position. Something has to change on that front. No more Effords, no more Grimmys, no more Niernolds, Ojalas, Sloths.

In all seriousness he is a mentally ill alcoholic with a history of domestic abuse and criminal connections. I'd take him ahead of Robinson but that's about it.

Lennon would at least give us something to shout about.
