  1. John Boyle is a legend, no doubt about it. His business decisions saved our Club and he gave and still gives 100% to his/our team. We owe him and we won't forget his contributions financially and as a supporter.

    John Boyle, thank you.!

  2. Yabba,

    Nice one!

Not sure where I'll be- could be onsite in Tianjin; which would mean a hotel stream and maybe a blocked ISP. :wallbash:

If I'm home in Shanghai, I know a pub that has a proxy, which I think is reasonable speed, though I will check beforehand.

Hey, I've maybe got myself deported in writing that.....

That means, I make the game after all.....

Was a real chance I could be in Warrington office w/c 16th May; doubtful now as project has slipped.

    Great gesture, anyway mate. :drinks:

Any chance of an avi/mpg file of Sutton's goal somewhere? E-mail or a file share? Chancing it, I know.....

The BBC clocks my IP address and Youtube seriously banned over here.

    Cheers

Hi Dave. I have a paid UK proxy through Foxy Proxy, costs about $11.00 Canadian a month which I subscribe to only during the football season. I am certain you know about proxy servers so I won't bore you with the limited knowledge I have but will say it works great because I get all the BBC Sportscene highlights and of course all game commentary and the odd BBC Scotland live game. Just something you might consider, if you have not already, which I expect you have.

  3. You fall into the same perceived trap as those you criticise. How do you know John Boyle "insulted" Craig Brown? Is it possible that JB simply said something that CB didn't like? How do you know what was said? Did John Boyle run away? As far as I can see from the video footage, he turned and walked off and just about had his jacket ripped off his back. For someone who promised not to comment further, Craig Brown has said quite a lot since the incident.

Oh come on, he certainly did not compliment him, that is obvious from the video.

  4. With respect to Moe's comment, the "gentlemanly" thing to do in that instance would be to just smile and be content with yourself not to take the bait. I for one, think that nobody likes being told the hard truth ......

The way Boyle went about things could have worked out better for the club, in terms of timing and media exposure, however I'll defend his right to tell anyone inside his business his opinion.

OK he is excitable (Cardiff City on Sky Sports News for example). I'd prefer if it wasn't caught on camera just because of the subsequent fallout. Let's put what he has done recently in context though, the guy is walking away gifting the club his shares without looking for any recompense for the £10m he has injected over his tenure, he has earned the right and even if he hadn't, he is still the chairman and owner.

Secondly I'd draw attention to the statement the Dons put out in December:

    Aberdeen Statement

For those who know media-speak, read between the lines, as underboyleheating's signature confirms, "The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn't being said".

For me Brown has betrayed the trust of a few Motherwell employees for personal gain, made an arse of himself in the media with his u-turn in December, cited "embarrassing" the club and how Youngie called to apologise for the events further shows how a) low he can stoop to try to maintain his perception among the wider public and b) how he tries to circumvent the "no comment" request imposed by Strathclyde's finest.

If he was called a "mercenary" as reported then that would be both correct and tame.

Another very good post Ladywelltoi. Can't help think though, in retrospect (although I wasn't one) how the Scottish public drooled over Craig Brown's appointment as Scotland manager, considering he was, and I'll say it again, a schoolteacher.

What's going on now behind the scenes goes on in corporate places of work all the time. I think there is far too much attention paid to it. The club screwed up when they didn't have him sign a contract. Brown left when he said he wasn't. Boyle said something in the public eye he probably shouldn't have. Everybody loses. We need to get over this and move on.

  5. As much of a tit as Gerry McNee was he saw through Craig Brown years ago and I can't believe what an easy ride he continues to get from the media. Craig Brown has had several slurs on his character over the years and he seems to come throught them all with his self-proclaimed "dignity" intact. He was a Judas to his wife, a Judas to his Scotland backroom team and a Judas to Motherwell. If he had any dirt to dish on Motherwell I'm pretty sure he would have at least alluded to it when he left to join Aberdeen. He is a shaky voiced little worm of a man and the sooner he gets what he deserves the better. Well done to John Boyle for winding the wee prick up to the extent that he he shows his true colours again.

I have to laugh though. When he was appointed Scotland manager the vast majority were in favour of the appointment. He was a school teacher for god's sakes. Tell you this, if I had been negative towards his appointment as Scotland manager at the time I would have been in the wrong 99.9%.

It's OK looking back, but I think this vendetta has gone on long enough. Never wanted Brown as manager in the first place but I was wrong because he did a very good job, way better than I thought (because of the above). This does not do anyone any good continuing this, especially now Boyle got involved. Time to leave the man alone and get on with it, it's becoming childish, stupid and quite frankly annoying.

  6. At this time I have no conviction nor reason to believe we will finish in the top six. Our recent league form has been poor to say the least and I don't really see any reason for improvement, so I voted no, but hope I am wrong.

  7. Need an 'idiot guide' to help me hide the Shoutbox, I can't find how to do it in my settings :(

Click on the box that says "My Prefs" beside the shoutbox and something will come up to allow you to change your preferences like disable it for now or whatever.

  8. i might move it to the bottom at a later date, but going to leave it at the top for now. Don't want to fanny about with the coding till everything is settled in, cos I really don't want to have to go through the whole process of putting it in again.

    Fair enough Gaag.

  9. That's the Shout Box up there, not the chat room... you can turn off the shout box altogether in your settings, if you want.

Ooops, it was the Shout Box I meant, thanks for clarifying that and yes I see you can turn it off.

and I thought wee Johnny wasn't meant to be in here so his mum should have a word with herself

EDIT: since when were sprogs welcome in here

Shocked, Johnnys maw was wondering where he was learning all that dodgey stuff

that's what COPPA validation is for

as was mentioned above it's very easy to turn it off in the settings if you don't intend to regularly use it

Rightyo. What do others think about its placement on the forum though? Top or bottom (:( not in the biblical sense).

  10. I wonder if it would be best to move it to the bottom of the forum or the home page? It's just that as soon as you log in you are "distracted" by the comments and one I saw earlier was a bit over the top so it might not be the best place for wee Johnny's mum to see when he logs in. :(
